We loved our stay at Zanzibar Coffee House! The building is beautiful, with loads of transitional features retained. The location is also great to be right in the heart of old stone town, within easy walking of all the sights. |Breakfast was wonderful, and the setting in the roof terrace made it even more special. |Finally, the staff were all wonderful, friendly and welcoming. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place, we loved it!

We arrived to be greeted by really friendly staff who showed us round our rooms. The rooms are beautiful with fantastic carved beds and mosquito nets. Silks covering the windows. Lovely bathrooms. Winding staircase with tropical plants. The café downstairs is busy and vibrant and the café on the roof where we had breakfast, could’ve spent all day in! The food was delicious for breakfast and lunch and staff were so helpful, so happy and so lovely.

We stayed here 2 nights. The room was nice and clean, the coffee tasty and strong. The service friendly and impeccable. The hotel let's you use the rooftop terrace even after closing hours, so you can enjoy peaceful views of stone Town with a pleasant breeze.

We stayed at the Coffee House Hotel, located right in the center of Stone Town, just a short walk from the Mkunazimi market. Our taxi dropped us off a few dozen meters away at Darajani Market, as cars can't access the narrow alleys leading to the hotel. Thankfully, the driver and a few friendly locals helped us carry our luggage to the entrance. |At first, the area didn’t give the best impression—it felt a bit chaotic and perhaps even unsafe. However, that turned out to be a completely wrong assumption. Once we settled in and stepped out to explore the vibrant streets around the Mkunazimi market, filled with souvenir shops and local life, we fell in love with the atmosphere.|The hotel itself is delightful. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and also equipped with fans, all furnished in beautiful Arab-style decor. We were welcomed with complimentary drinks, which was a lovely touch.|There’s a café on the ground floor, but the real highlight is the rooftop terrace, where we had an excellent breakfast the next morning. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay.|All in all, it was a wonderful experience and a perfect introduction to Zanzibar and Stone Town.|The only downside: there are quite a few stairs. If you have mobility issues, this hotel might not be suitable for you.

Good things first:||The location is amazing in the heart of Stone Town.||The rooms are so characterful and felt both boutique and luxury. They were named after coffees too- a treat as we love coffee.||The terrace on the top is incredible- we loved going there for a welcome coffee to see the sunset and having breakfast there too.||The coffee was delicious, they make their own.||The only bad thing was that the person who picked us up from the airport (on the hotel's behalf) couldn't have been much worse. Went to the wrong terminal, implied it was our fault (it wasn't) didn't apologize, didn't explain in advance that the streets are too narrow for cars near the hotel so you have to walk with your bags (no problem for us but it would have been good to know). It started our introduction to the island together on completely the wrong footing, thankfully everything was uphill from there!

What a beautiful, authentic place in the heart of Stone Town! It’s got such character. The staff is so friendly and the rooms super comfy. ACs work well, comfy beds, hot shower and they also have an option of booking a day room if your flight is late at night like ours was. Really loved this place and if we return to Zanzibar we’ll definitely stay here again!

The Zanzibar coffee house hotel staff are very gracious, professional, and helpful. Rooms are charming and comfortable with antique furniture and air conditioning. Rooftop terrace for generous breakfast is cool and lovely. The hotel is ideally located for Stone Town shopping and restaurants.
