stayed at the Zanzibar over the Thanksgiving holiday after flying in from the U.S. and planning to spend a few days in Dublin. The front desk kindly allowed me to check in early (for an additional fee), which I appreciated. However, upon arriving in my room—located on the back side of the building—I discovered that there was massive construction taking place directly outside my window.
This was not light maintenance. It involved jackhammering, power saws, metal pipes being dropped, and multiple power tools running simultaneously. The work started at 7:00 a.m. sharp and continued until 7:00 p.m. every single day of my stay. For someone arriving jet-lagged and expecting a relaxing, premium experience, this made the stay extremely uncomfortable.
I paid a premium rate for my room, and this level of noise—and the fact that it was literally right outside the window—was absolutely not reflective of the price point or the expectations set by the hotel. I emailed hotel management and even sent videos documenting the noise beginning at 7:00 a.m., yet I have received zero response.
Overall, while the staff were polite, the lack of communication from management and the failure to disclose such significant construction made the experience incredibly disappointing. I would not have booked this property had I known.
