Great hotel great staff, amazing breakfast (avocado toast are excellent) and good for dinner too. The rooms are cozy. And the lounge restaurant area very cute. The pool is protected from the wind making it very comfortable to use in the afternoon. Yes there is high and low tide, at low tide you can have a refreshing bath but can not swim properly.

If you are already thinking about booking this hotel, do it! It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed at. From your beautiful bungalow you get incredible views of the ocean that differ a lot between low and high tide. There are some other hotels in the area, but it is still a very quiet place that isn't overcrowded by tourists, with locals still using the beach as well. Everything was very clean and well kept. The food is very good, especially during live music nights when they have a special menu. One of our highlights was the all-day breakfast, allowing us to start our day at our own pace from your private terrace. The best thing about the place was the amazing staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive. We got the impression that they truly enjoyed and took pride in working at this hotel. We also loved that it felt very inclusive, which became especially apparent during our reef walk which was guided by a deaf-mute staff member. Things that you might want to consider: - There is no air conditioning. The bungalows are built in a way that allows the air to flow through, and there are some fans. In our opinion the temperature in the room was fine, but you should be aware that you cannot regulate it yourself. - You will have sand everywhere. There are no paved pathways through the hotel, you will be walking on sand all day. We loved it and it added to the overall atmosphere of the hotel, but it might not be for everyone. - If you want to participate in a lot of activities, party or just walk around some interesting sights, this might not be the place for you, as it is kind of secluded. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax it will be perfect. - Half-board might not be worth it even if you are planning to eat at the hotel every night. The food is great, but even with half-board you order from the regular menu. Looking at the prices for dishes you have to order 3 courses on the more expensive side to match the price for half-board. So, if you might want to eat out just once or not need 3 courses every night, you might just want to pay for what you eat.

What an amazing hotel! The rooms, food and staff were all amazing. Location is right on the beach which is perfect for some lazy days! Recommend that you do the village walk and reef walk, really interesting and eye opening. The staff were brilliant, and I highly recommend the ginger tea for a sore throat!! Only downside was that we couldn't stay there longer!

Such a magical place to spend 4 luxurious days after our safari. We walked straight onto the stunning beach from our accommodation, enjoyed time relaxing, swimming and reading by the pool, and ate wonderful breakfasts and dinners while there. Farah was an amazing host of the property, even lending my husband her husband's bathing suit after we realized my husband had forgotten his. She gave us a great history of the property and of the island, and ran a lovely yoga class every day. Perfect ending to our time in Tanzania. Couldn't recommend this more highly.

Wauw, Zanzibar Sunrise is one of the best places we have ever stayed at. It has it all: beautiful location right on the beach, greenery all around, super friendly and helpfull staff and last but not least, an amazing restaurant and cook. Also highly recommend the free yoga classes, taught by Farah :) The place has a very mellow and relaxed vibe with lots of attention to detail. Had an amazing time here.

After a week of safari in Tanzania, we were looking forward to recovery and lazy days by the beach. We arrived at Zanzibar Sunrise and were welcomed by friendly staff, a beautiful garden with pool and peaceful background music. ||The breakfast alone is a reason to stay at Sunrise, choosing from fresh fruit and vegetables, egg dishes and great coffee, at any point of the day. We had a base of shakshuka all mornings, because of delicious. ||The staff helped us find and book activities for our stay, a private boat picked us up outside our house and took us snorkeling with fish and dolphins at the reef of Mnemba. We went reef walking with one of the hotel’s knowledgable gardeners, to see sea urchins, starfish, sea cucumber and more, the tide can be quite dramatic on this side of the island. ||The lovely manager Farah handled some early quirks with our stay in a swift, understanding and professional attitude, we couldn’t be more grateful for that. The entertainment manager Michael played a key part in creating a life memory of a romantic honeymoon dinner, with flowers, small lamps. white cloth and an exuberance of flowers framed the evening. This memory will be with us always. ||The food overall was so good and we didn’t find the need to visit other hotels for dinner. The wine list was mainly south african and somewhat scarce due to the approaching end of season, but we had some great pairings to fish and seafood. (The tiger prawn curry in papadum bowl is to die for). ||Thanks for making our honey moon so special, we cannot recommend this place highly enough!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely unforgettable stay! From the moment we arrived at Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas, we felt not just like guests, but like part of a warm and caring family. Farah and the entire team went above and beyond to make our time truly special — even celebrating with us several important family occasions. Every gesture, every smile, and every detail of our stay made it magical and full of joy. The kindness, professionalism, and unique atmosphere of this beautiful place on Zanzibar are simply unmatched. The food was another highlight — fresh, healthy, and wonderfully varied, with every meal offering new and delicious flavours. Dining here was a true pleasure from start to finish. We will treasure these memories for a lifetime and always speak of Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas with great fondness. We can’t wait to return! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️ — Ewa, Mikołaj, Wiktoria & Kamil

I just had the best stay ever at Zanzibar Sunrise, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning paradise beach that stretches along the coastline. The beauty of the surroundings truly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a dream. The huts at Zanzibar Sunrise are designed to melt seamlessly into the natural decor, offering a unique blend of comfort and a genuine connection to nature. Waking up to the sound of waves and the gentle rustle of leaves was an experience I will never forget. The cuisine at the hotel was nothing short of exquisite. Each meal was a delightful journey of flavors, featuring fresh, local ingredients that truly celebrate the essence of Zanzibar. Dining while overlooking the beach added an extra touch of magic to every meal. The service was exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Their warmth and attention to detail made me feel welcomed and valued throughout my visit. Overall, my stay at Zanzibar Sunrise was nothing short of perfect. If you're looking for a slice of paradise, this is the place to be! I can't wait to return.
