Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas

What an amazing hotel! The rooms, food and staff were all amazing. Location is right on the beach which is perfect for some lazy days! Recommend that you do the village walk and reef walk, really interesting and eye opening. The staff were brilliant, and I highly recommend the ginger tea for a sore throat!! Only downside was that we couldn't stay there longer!

I just had the best stay ever at Zanzibar Sunrise, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning paradise beach that stretches along the coastline. The beauty of the surroundings truly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a dream. The huts at Zanzibar Sunrise are designed to melt seamlessly into the natural decor, offering a unique blend of comfort and a genuine connection to nature. Waking up to the sound of waves and the gentle rustle of leaves was an experience I will never forget. The cuisine at the hotel was nothing short of exquisite. Each meal was a delightful journey of flavors, featuring fresh, local ingredients that truly celebrate the essence of Zanzibar. Dining while overlooking the beach added an extra touch of magic to every meal. The service was exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Their warmth and attention to detail made me feel welcomed and valued throughout my visit. Overall, my stay at Zanzibar Sunrise was nothing short of perfect. If you're looking for a slice of paradise, this is the place to be! I can't wait to return.

After a week of safari in Tanzania, we were looking forward to recovery and lazy days by the beach. We arrived at Zanzibar Sunrise and were welcomed by friendly staff, a beautiful garden with pool and peaceful background music. ||The breakfast alone is a reason to stay at Sunrise, choosing from fresh fruit and vegetables, egg dishes and great coffee, at any point of the day. We had a base of shakshuka all mornings, because of delicious. ||The staff helped us find and book activities for our stay, a private boat picked us up outside our house and took us snorkeling with fish and dolphins at the reef of Mnemba. We went reef walking with one of the hotel’s knowledgable gardeners, to see sea urchins, starfish, sea cucumber and more, the tide can be quite dramatic on this side of the island. ||The lovely manager Farah handled some early quirks with our stay in a swift, understanding and professional attitude, we couldn’t be more grateful for that. The entertainment manager Michael played a key part in creating a life memory of a romantic honeymoon dinner, with flowers, small lamps. white cloth and an exuberance of flowers framed the evening. This memory will be with us always. ||The food overall was so good and we didn’t find the need to visit other hotels for dinner. The wine list was mainly south african and somewhat scarce due to the approaching end of season, but we had some great pairings to fish and seafood. (The tiger prawn curry in papadum bowl is to die for). ||Thanks for making our honey moon so special, we cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Absolutely fantastic hotel! It is currently one of my favourite places I have stayed in all my years of travelling! From the moment we got to the hotel we fell in love with the place and the staff. Every member of the staff team at the hotel were wonderful! Always smiling, laughing and happy to help. The hotel rooms were amazing, very traditional and cooled by the sea breeze! Housekeeping took wonderful care of us and the rooms, they came back in the evening to spray for mosquitoes and drop the mosquitoes net around the bed. Loved the anytime breakfast option and this suit us some mornings when we wanted to lay in. You can also have breakfast on your terrace over looking the sea. We did the reef walk, yoga classes and village tour with the hotel staff, but were interesting and you learnt a lot. You can also take advantage of the sea kayaks and bikes if you want to. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel every night as we wanted to try some local restaurants, but the food was good! Really wish we had spent longer at the hotel, a week wasn’t enough! We will definitely be back.

This is a beautiful venue and is very well run. If it were not for two major flaws it would get 5 stars... The first is the unfortunate location which is very much affected by the tides... for half the day there is no swimming at all because the tide is so far out ... and there are a massive amount of sea urchins... making the location not great for swimming at all ... The rooms are idylic but don't have aircon.. so when its really hot the rooms are uncomfortable... THe hotel is beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is lovely

Amazing place to spend relaxing vacation in an incredible spot. The hotel has everything you need for a perfect time. The great staff make your stay even better. Special mention to Luka who is always willing to help you with an smile and great attitude/energy.

We stayed in the beach front bungalow which was great to sit on our terrace and watch the tide come in and out and a nice touch to have individual bungalow beach loungers with shade. The room was clean and a good size with a decent hot shower. Nice big bed with mozzie net but for some reason, despite seeming quite comfortable, every morning we woke with sore backs which I think was possibly more down to the bouncy pillows than the mattress (obvs personal opinion). The staff were all really friendly and welcoming but some additional training and added touches would make a huge difference to the service. Although it didn’t ruin the stay, I don’t think we had a single meal where we got exactly what we ordered, although generally all meals were really nice. It would have been great for a little more service around the pool, or beach/rooms, we would likely have spent a lot more on drinks/snacks if staff wandered around and offered a bit more table/lounger service. The chill zone pool area was lovely, decent size to relax and cool off in. All in all a nice stay, very relaxed and although not loads going on in the immediate are, any activities organised were super easy through the property.

This place is magical. Sunrise at Bandas is a place that absorbs you from the very first minute. As soon as you arrive, the place is astonishing; an idyllic setting that brings peace and is cared for down to the finest detail. It continues to amaze, as the entire accommodation is beautiful, with two pools and a restaurant that is a delight. Each room is a spacious, independent villa, offering a unique experience. The experience at Sunrise at Bandas is wonderful thanks to the staff, who are always attentive with a smile, taking care of the guests and every detail with care. They are attentive to all aspects: restaurant, cleanliness, etc. Additionally, they offer extra services that turn it into an oasis, such as yoga, kayaking, bikes, or excursions to make the most of this peaceful yet beautiful area of the island. We stayed here for a week on our honeymoon, and without a doubt, it was the best decision.
