ZANZISTAR LODGE & RESTAURANT

We absolutely loved our stay at Zanzistar. Arriving at the hotel felt like stepping into a little forest oasis, immediately giving us a sense of peace and relaxation. Its location is perfect—close enough to the beach for an easy walk, yet tucked away just enough to enjoy privacy and calm whenever we wanted. The true highlight, however, was the food. Every seafood dish we tried was exceptional, fresh, and full of flavor. We enjoyed every meal. The staff were wonderful—warm, attentive, and always making sure we had everything we needed. In particular Peter, the manager, was incredibly helpful and really supported us in organizing our trips, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The design was beautiful and thoughtful, created with a love for every detail. Our room was both cozy and airy, with an inviting atmosphere that made us feel instantly at home. We would return to Zanzistar in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable getaway.

We had an amazing stay at Zanzistar ! The hotel is nice and cosy, the beach bar is great to spend some time tanning, chatting, drink or grab a bite. The staff (Peter, Esther, Eli, Din and the others) was amazingly friendly and caring. The food was also great, very tasty, even for french picky eaters like us. We ended up eating only at the hotel and trying almost everything on the menu ! The room was great, clean and the bed was quite confortable. Thank you all for the amazing time !!!

Very welcoming environment and the staff are great. Based on the photos advertised on booking.com you may be expecting this to be a beach front place, but it’s unfortunately not. Food and drinks on offer at breakfast/dinner are great

Zanzistar is a truly charming and cozy hotel with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. What really sets this place apart is the incredibly kind and attentive staff — everyone we met was warm, helpful, and genuinely caring. The manager was especially thoughtful and engaged, making sure everything ran smoothly and that guests felt truly looked after. The hotel also has a fantastic beachside bar and restaurant just a short stroll away — perfect for enjoying a meal or drink with a view of the ocean and your feet in the sand. The food was absolutely delicious — the tuna tartare, in particular, was unforgettable! We spent five wonderful days here after our trek up Kilimanjaro and Meru, and it was exactly the peaceful, friendly environment we needed to relax and recharge. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid-back and memorable stay in Zanzibar. Warm greetings to the whole team from Warsaw, Poland! :) P.S. If we could suggest one small improvement — serving real brewed coffee instead of instant at breakfast would make the mornings even better!

Zanzistsr is one of my favourite places to eat dinner. They have two locations, one at the hotel itself it offers dinner, the other is a bar on the beach with plenty of shade. Ellie was very kind and welcoming will definitly come back ✨

We had such a relaxing stay at Zanzistar! It is even better than the photos with a relaxed, bohemian vibe. The staff were all wonderful! Even though the lodge isn't directly on the beach it is a one minute walk over to their beach bar where you can lounge and order food and drinks. You can leave your things securely at the beach bar if you want to go explore the beach. ||We stayed in the Babu room which faces the street but did not feel noisy. If you're a light sleeper, earplugs are provided. The shower was hot with great pressure which was really nice to rinse off after a day in the salt water. We loved spending time by the pool and watching the monkeys play in the trees overhead. ||We ate most of our meals at the lodge and they really do have some of the best food in the area. We especially loved the tuna sashimi and the detox juice. They have a book full of activity suggestions and we took their recommendation of doing the VIP beach barbecue snorkel tour which was really incredible and worth the splurge! We also had their masseuse come to give us massages in our room which was wonderful. ||Thank you Zanzistar for a wonderful stay :)

We enjoyed our stay at Zanzistar, particularly the wonderful staff and the fabulous food. They are truly top notch!!! If you’re looking for a private spot on the beach, I suggest skipping the chambre de plage. It’s sandwiched between the beach bar and another building -very little breeze and of lot of foot traffic. Nonetheless, we loved our stay and the magic of the Jambiani vibe and the spectacularly dramatic tides!

Peter and his team are most kind and helpful. The breakfast is a feast, rooms are cozy and tastefully decorated. We also dined; menu is well crafted and had an excellent tuna tartare and coconut veggies. The pool is a gift when the sea tide is low!!! Perfect place to relax with a very cool vibe.
