First visit here and found this cozy gem around corner from our hotel. Mix of Basque and Catalan. Food was very good, but highlights were also the friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. We ended back again the next night for a nightcap. Would come back for sure!

Google
Very relaxed Basque restaurant with amazing food and friendly service. Tables are limited ( make a reservation) but you can sit at the bar as well for a meal and drink if you’re ok with that. I had Pulpo ( octopus) for dinner, which was amazing. I went back the next day to have pintxos at the bar because they looked so good on the first day. They tasted as good as they looked .. fantastic ! This is more a local place than a tourist which probably makes it so pleasant.

Excellent food and service. Very interesting fusion of Catalan and Basque cuisine. I was there for lunch with a party of eight so I was able to enjoy several dishes from the menu. The watermelon gazpacho was refreshing and amazing. The grilled calamari was tender and well balanced with the right amount of caramelized onions. Everything was delicious! Save some room for dessert.

Fantastic gem near the train station. Freshly made hot and cold pinxos (basque tapas) that are divine. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Gets busy with locals for a very good reason

Enjoyed our tapas experience with very friendly, hospitable Jorde & Laura! Had a few delicious tapas made fresh everyday. Picturing few here including cod fish (my fav) heated perfectly on a soft, crispy toast😋

Google
One of the best finds in Barcelona! The food here was simple yet delicious. Absolutely amazing grilled calamari with caramelized onions, and we especially loved the pintxos of beef sirloin (really melts in your mouth meat) and foie gras with apple. There is a great selection of wines to go with it too. We ordered by the glass which also has an amazing value for money. Love love love 10/10 recommend this spot!

Google
Nice place if you want to stay for short time, the service is nice they have a long list of wines and plates. But you have to wait a lot, for that reason we just order wines and something fast to eat.

Great place. Amazing variety of pinchos/tapas. Family friendly. Cold beer and smiles all over. We ordered pinchos and some extra plates from the menu. We will be back!

Yelp
I first had the opportunity to try Basque cuisine about 5-6 years ago during a work trip to Boise, Idaho (home to one of the largest Basque communities outside of the Basque Country in France and Spain). That meal turned out to be one of the highlights of that trip, so I was ecstatic to find a Basque restaurant near my hotel in Barcelona. I quickly beelined over to the restaurant for a solo dinner that delivered in spades. While both the service and ambience was satisfactory, the food is what truly mesmerized me and singlehandedly salvaged an otherwise dull day that I had spent resting and recuperating from Barcelona's stealth attack on my sinuses. Le sigh. In terms of the food, the tomato and tuna belly salad was refreshing and delightful. The octopus and pig's feet carpaccio was hands down the single best dish I ate in Spain. The richness of the dish along with the texture and exquisite flavor was akin to eating a gourmet version of souse (or hog's head cheese), which I grew up eating in the US Deep South. I ended the meal on a high note with Basque cheesecake. In summary, here are my final thoughts on this remarkable three course meal: Perfecto! Me gusta mucho Cocina del País Vasco!

Brad B.

Yelp
We wondered over to this place after a Yelp search and were very pleased. Had croquettes, potato's bravas, and the filet de vaca Vella. Finished up with cheesecake (basque style). Everything was on point. Great ingredients with simple presentations. Everything was just right. We were happy at every step along the way with the meal. I hold out for rare occasions to eat red meat and this did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The cheesecake was amazing. The basque style is really a revolution to my American pallet. There is actual real cheese involved with the dessert and the taste reflects it!

Yelp
Everything was top shelf! Reviews are on point.the food, beverages, atmosphere, and service is top notch. You leave full and still light on your toes.

Yelp
Zarautz is an eclectic tapas spot tucked away in a side street in Barcelona. The food consists of mini dishes of different fusions and diverse cultures on a skewer or on top of bread--they also have an a la carte menu. The service is highly enjoyable, the staff regularly check up on you and food comes out fast. The ambiance has me impartial... not much to say about the feel of the restaurant. Overall, enjoyable service, and would highly recommend this place to foodies, might not be for the beginners--easily deserving of at least 4 stars!

Yelp
My wife and I were in Barcelona, Spain in April 2016. It was our first Euro trip and Barcelona was our stop. We took advantage of Spain's Siesta during our 1st evening and napped during the day before going out for our evening meal. We decided to try Zarautz as it was walking distance from our hotel and the food looked promising. We walked in around 10 pm which is extremely late being that we are from the States, but after our long nap we were ready for dinner. We were sat right away and our server gave us English menu's upon our request. The food was amazing and full of flavor. We started with an artichoke appetizer and each had a glass of wine. Our server was kind and was patient towards us while we ordered our food. During our meal, closing time came, but we were never rushed or given a dirty look that made us feel like we had to leave. In fact, a couple walked in shortly before closing and they were graciously seated with what appeared to be no animosity from the staff. This would never be the case in the United States. Overall, it was a great experience and a pleasant evening with the Mrs.

Sam V.

Yelp
Leave the train station and eat here. Its more than worth the short walk. Food and service both were excellent. And they were patience with english speakers trying to order Spanish wine. Nice people.

Yelp
This was an accidental discovery near the Sants train station. I'd gone over to buy a ticket to Madrid for the next day and picked them for lunch, rather than eat at station since they had good ratings and are only a couple of blocks away, straight down the street to your right as you exit the station, past the line of cabs and the giant black metal dragon sculpture. It's a straight shot down the street and easy to spot on the corner on the left side. Zarautz is spotless and very well kept, with a friendly helpful staff. They have a multi-lingual pictorial menu on a video screen above the bar. The tapas looked appealing, and the price of 10 euros for five items and a drink was a deal and a half. Everything was good to excellent. Favorites were the triangular slice of a quiche/kugel potato pie (see photo) and a crab salad. I came back for lunch the next (very rainy) day before taking the afternoon train. The cab dropped me right at the restaurant, but when it was time to head over to the rail station, the rain had intensified. The gentleman behind the bar got a big plastic trash bag and rigged it up over my rolling luggage perfectly - attaching it at the top and bottom so it wouldn't blow off (photo). That goes above and beyond good service. On top of a very convenient location, great prices and excellent food, I'd give them six stars if I could. If you're hungry near Barcelona Sants station, stop in.

Thuy Dan T.

Yelp
This place was really a gem to go to after a long day of walking and being the ultimate tourist! It is conveniently located right next to the station so getting a taxi after is no problem. Service was great, atmosphere is friendly, and price is reasonable! If you sit at the bar, you can also just get their wide selection of tapas! I really enjoyed every dish, but these were the stars of the show: -Balbania baby eels with prawns: well seasoned and the eels were so good! MUST GET! -Boneless pork trotters stuffed with black sausage and shrimps: beautiful presentation with great taste. -Turron donuts: almost like frozen peanut (or almond?) butter covered in powdered sugar and then paired with great complimentary jams! Recommend anyone visiting Barcelona to make a stop here!!

Yelp
I was slightly surprised to see this place was so highly reviewed. This was my first meal in Barcelona. I had my mouth watering for spicy shrimp. What I got was bland shrimp in and old sauce. It may have been old shrimp in a bland sauce. Either way it did not work at all. I thought about ordering more but realized I should relax. The service was ok. I probably wouldn't visit again with several fantastic restaurant in Barcelona.

LaToya K.

Yelp
Came here specifically for the octopus tapas. Unfortunately they didn't have them and only had the full entree available. Since I wasn't hungry enough for a full entree I ordered the "spicy shrimp". The shrimp were far from spicy and weren't really that great in general. I doubt I'll go back to try the octopus.

Yelp
Finding this place is absolutely a classic example of why Yelp is so awesome! After a long week at a huge trade 5 of us decided to go out to eat a really good dinner (as compared to the company supplied "food" we ate during the week). We are all unfamiliar with Barcelona and my colleagues just stared at each other saying "where should we go?" Meanwhile I quickly turned to my trusty Yelp app and started my search! Within just a few minutes I found Zarautz. Even though it was raining and we had to walk half a kilometer, my friends trusted me and trudged on. When we got there we realized that we should have had reservations because the place was packed! If tthere is more than 2 of you - Make A Reservation! However we got lucky because enough seats at the bar opened up for us to all sit together. (See my separate tip about the front door!) I also encourage everyone to sit at the bar because other Yelpers had made a comment in their reviews that it was the place to be. They were right - Sit At The Bar! The menu offers both Basque and Catalan items but there's no way a tourist like me would know which is which. Who cares?! Everything we ate was awesome. We tried at least half of the items on their menu. A digital display about the bar cycles through showing you what each item looks like. A series of platters on the bar offers "pintxos" which are small tapas. You put them on your plate and can eat them cold but I recommend asking for them to be heated up. After just a few minutes your plate will be returned with hot delicious food. The toothpick holding each item together is then placed into a small ramekin so when you're done eating they can figure out your bill. Everything we ate tasted amazing. It's hard to pick out an item and say that it would be better than the others. However I did adventurously try the Mañanico and it was fabulous (see my picture). It's one of those dishes where your brain says no and your tastebuds says hey brain shut the f up because this is goddamn delicious. They serve draft Estrella beer as well as wine and some liquor. We tried two different bottles of red wine - both yummy and well suited for the food. Bartender we had was a really great guy. Attentive and fast. He also graciously offered us free shots of a Basque liquor which tasted faintly of Jaegarmeister but totally without the burn and with a delicious aftertaste. (We got a second round heh) After eating and eating, two beers each, two bottles of wine and desserts the total bill was about 45 euros each (with tip included). An incredible price considering how much food we ate. Zarautz is the perfect magical combination of low price and high quality. Thank you fellow Yelpers for making reviews - I hope I'm paying this forward.

Yelp
The service sucks, but the food isn't bad. Some dishes were pretty good, and some not so much. The Iberian pork risotto, or, as they call it on the menu, "creamy rice", is to die for. The assortment of pinchos are hit and miss. The squid in baked apple sauce was interesting, but in a good way. I didn't think those flavors would work together, but they do. I have never been an olive fan in my entire life, but, for some reason, the olives they served us here were DIVINE. I was popping them back like no tomorrow! If the service was better, I would have upped them to maybe 4 stars, but the service is just absolutely horrible, and it's so difficult to get anyone's attention. Some servers are more fluent in English than others. Free wifi available, just ask for the password.

Ruby C.

Yelp
My first Tapas bar and I loved the experience! The bar area is self service and the dining area is for ordering off the menu. All the Tapas I tried was delicious with a perfect mix of sweet and salty. The service was great and the staff was accommodating for travelers who spoke English. Try their Tapas you will love it! They are super cheap too!

Denny B.

Yelp
Fabulous food experience was made better by great service from our young server, Ibai. He was most courteous and helpful. All four of our meals were delicious along with our appetizers and small plates. Very convenient location near large hotels and Estacion Sants rail station. Favorite place for the locals.

Jess F.

Yelp
What a great experience on our first night in Barcelona. The waiters were polite, knowledgeable and helpful. It was a bonus they spoke English. We had the eels with eggs and ham, the green peppers, spicy prawns and the foie with caramelized apples. For dessert we had the "chocolate orgasm" and another dessert made from foie. If I was going to be picky, I didn't like the hot/cold contrast of the foie/apple and the waiter forgot my girlfriend's wine in the first order. These are really just slight detractions for an awesome and well priced experience!

Yelp
Bienvenido a Barça! The perfect welcome back to my favorite city in the world. For our 2016 trip, this was our first meal in Barcelona and our dinner couldn't have been more perfect. SERVICE: ---------- We were immediately greeted--in English--as soon as we stepped in the door. This is not the norm in Barcelona, as they usually aren't as nice to tourist. Just in case, I busted out the Spanish I'd been practicing for the last half year. TIP: In my experience service is waaaaayy better if you speak even a tiny bit of Spanish. But it didn't matter here because they were just as welcoming to us as to all the locals in the room. And the service throughout the meal was on point. Our server made excellent recommendations and kept the dinner (and drinks) running smoothly. FOOD & DRINK: ----------------- What better way to kick off our first Barcelonian meal than with a pitcher of sangria?! We started with the **Sparkling Sangria** and it was absolutely delightful. Refreshing after our long day of travel and oh-so-delicious. Just the right proportion of wine to fruitiness. Generous emphasis on the wine: immediate 5 stars. Haha just kidding, but it definitely doesn't hurt. :) On to the food... We ordered family style and got many plates to share. Best idea ever because we were able to try so many dishes. **Pinxto Sampler - We ordered 2 platters of these Catalan-style tapas and every single one was tasty. Some had egg, others sausage, cheeses, salmon, and more. **Tuna Fish Sashimi / Tataky with creamy wasabi - Surprisingly one of the best dishes of the meal. One of those amazing recommendations by our server. We didn't expect the fish to be as fresh as it was. **Range Chicken Catalan style with roasted artichokes and leeks - Very tender meat complemented well by the vegetables. **Lamb Shoulder with pear jam and caramelized onion gnocchis - Nice blend of flavors and **Beef Carpaccio with Idiazábal cheese - Another favorite of the night with meat sliced to a perfectly thin degree. **Beef Sirloin with shrimp - Can't go wrong with surf & turf! Didn't disappoint but wasn't one of the highlights. **Duck Breast with apple and nut praline - Very tasty but one of the only dishes that didn't quite make as much sense as the others. Just a tiny bite for each of us! **Homemade Cheesecake - One of the best cheesecakes I've had the privilege to enjoy. We were all surprised that it was as good as it was. I intend to revisit on every future visit to my favorite city. TIP: Go family style so that you too can enjoy many different dishes. DATE TIP: They'll definitely be impressed by all the tapas and dishes. And especially if it starts off and ends with this much deliciousness in a sangria and a cheesecake.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Food is up and down, service is strange and lacking. Walked in on Monday night at 8pm and waited 20 minutes for a table. We were told that the bar was full, and we could only order tapas at the bar, if we sat down it was the dinner menu only, and wine only..too bad because I wanted to try the sangria. Strange! I can't order tapas if I'm sitting at a table?? Whatever. We took the table. And waited and waited for our server to finally come over. He was the only one working, so he was clearly overwhelmed and disorganized. Idk if it was because we were tourists? But we felt like we were being treated differently...otherwise tables came in way after us and got served wayyy before us. Our dinner took 3 hours because we waited so long for service! Ridiculous! I recommend the cherry gazpacho with basil ice cream. Amazing and unique! Tapas selection on the dinner menu was only one choice of a variety of Pinchos (things on bread) and they were just OK. My squid dish over baked apple sauce with savory and sweet and salty and delicious! Great combo of flavors and textures hitting every taste bud. My boyfriend was told they were out of chicken, so he got the Zarautz eggs...which was actually potatoes in an almost raw egg sauce topped with ham. Too salty and the egg was too raw. Wouldn't recommend. For dessert we got the "chocolate orgasm" a rich chocolate and walnut brownie with white chocolate sauce and dark chocolate hazelnut mousse with these pop rock like crunchies...yum!

Yelp
I visited this place almost 3 years ago and still think about their food. Both of the waiters were very nice and loved to keep us all entertained. My family enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and the people. We def went back multiple times during our stay in Barcelona, as it was close to our hotel (even in the rain). Highly recommend visiting this place for some tapas or if you want a quick meal!

Victoria R.

Yelp
We came across Zarautz by chance while walking one evening, and decided to stop in for dinner. The staff was very friendly and welcoming; we were seated without a wait. Our server's English was much better than our Spanish, and he was happy to talk to us about the various food options, and what wines would make good pairings with them. Tip: The dining room here is fairly small; the bar offers pintxos (small finger foods served at bars and taverns throughout the Basque Country) with the toothpick policy. On to our meal! Our starter was the Tuna tartar with wasabi ice cream; a very flavorful dish. Our mains were the cod (one of the best I've had in Barcelona) and the T-bone steak platter. The steak was a beautiful cut that was perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The desserts here are house-made and creative. I never even heard of a gin and tonic sorbet before I came here, but it was delicious. The cheese cake with fresh berry sauce was also quite good. Bottom line: good quality food and service, a reliable place for a good meal that I'm sure I'll return to.

Yelp
Though tapas are the best in Spain and delicious, we were getting a little tired of them and wanted something different. I wanted Catalan or Basque cuisine since I can't get it back home. Luckily Zarazutz was very close to our hotel and open on our last night in Barcelona. I made a reservation using The Fork (owned by TripAdvisor) and was also able to get 30% off our entrees with the reservation. You can dine at the bar if you want pinchos, but most of the clientele throughout our night here dined at a table. I also put in the reservation notes that we were celebrating our anniversary. We were seated before our reservation time of 7PM and at the time there was only one other party dining in the restaurant. It was still early for dinner according to local time though. I was curious about their lobster rice, however they said they were out of lobster that night. I went with the chicken Catalan style with roasted arthicokes and leeks. He got the baked codfish with a garlic mayo and roasted tomato sauce. After ordering they were so sweet and gave us complimentary glasses of Cava for our anniversary. The chicken was delicious! I got two pieces of moist chicken in a wonderful brown wine sauce topped with plenty of leeks, artichokes, and legumes. His cod was hearty and moist, served with a garlic sauce, potatoes and asparagus. I never have room for dessert and was tempted for us to order dessert on our last night in such a wonderful city. He wanted his own though, so I had to muster up the room in my stomach to finish my Chocolate Orgasm, while he ate his bourbon vanilla ice cream. His ice cream, though not really bourbony had a rich vanilla flavor without being heavy. My choocolate orgasm was a decadent mix of a chocolate brownie, white chocolate cream, and dark chocolate mousse with little graham crumbles. It didn't leave me feeling like I had a brick in stomach though, and I also stole some of his vanilla ice cream to mix with this heavenly mix of chocolate flavors. Makeshift brownie a la mode for the win! We were so lucky that our hotel was in a great area (Sants district) next to amazing restaurants that weren't tourist traps, and very close to the metro line. Zarautz was a wonderful ending to our last night in Barcelona.

Jay M.

Yelp
Good food but the portion was small for the price! the chocolate orgasm was really good. Overall quite pricey

Afshan H.

Yelp
Great little spot near the train station. Friendly and cheerful staff that was joking with the kids. The churros and hot chocolate were better than San Germin in Madrid. And the cheesecake was so good we ordered a second slice. Vegetarian options for breakfast were limited but he helped us figure out items that worked for us.

Matt S.

Yelp
We visited this place many times, 12 years ago great. Today, so so on service, it's too bad! You see people come in and leave because the bartender cannot get to them. We felt in welcome here, almost like the bartender wanted to make sure the service was bad enough we'd leave. On this trip to Barcelona we sought this place out, what a disappointment! I am kind of shocked at how in attentive the bartender is tonight. You can really tell he does not want any visitors, locals only get proper service.

Sampath D.

Yelp
I would've given this restaurant 4 stars, but after having so much good food in Barcelona, I realized how mediocre this restaurant is. Just as a general tip, the food gets significantly better as you go closer to the central area of Barcelona, just as in most cities. We mainly ordered tapas. We ordered the Padron green peppers, Patatas Bravas, Cheese Platter, and an assortment of pintxos. The green peppers were very disappointing. They didn't have much seasoning or taste to them and were not even that spicy. Felt like I was just eating raw oiled bell peppers. I asked for a sauce and they said there is no dipping sauce with the peppers and so I had to improvise and ask for a side of cheese which did make the taste of the green peppers a bit more bearable. I thought initially the potatoes were good, but after trying them at nearly every other restaurant in Barcelona, I realized that they were definitely subpar. Although the bravas sauce is decent, the other orange sauce that is paired with it is not great. It has a weird tangy taste to it and also a texture that is inconsistent with the that of the bravas sauce. I tried to avoid that sauce as much as possible when eating the patatas. The cheese platter was pretty decent. The first 3 kinds of cheese were quite good and the one in the middle had just the right amount of sharpness, but the last one was absolutely atrocious. Way too sharp and way too creamy. They also gave some bread with the cheese platter which was nice. I also thought the pintxos were decent too until I went to a place that specialized purely in pintxos. The jam and goat cheese and jalapeño popper ones were really good; all of the other ones were either mediocre or subpar. Decent taste and decent service makes eating here enjoyable, but I would highly recommend looking around a bit more to find a better place.

Erikk H.

Yelp
Slightly off the path which is nice. Gets a healthy crowd but not a lot of tourist traffic. The food is great. Have a great selection of pintxos during the day. Warn atmosphere at night. Everyone was hospitable and accommodating.

Danrong Z.

Yelp
I visited here at the first day in Barcelona. The waiters are just soooo kind and tells us a lot about how to order tapas and so on. The food is delicious too!

Jon H.

Yelp
Friendly service, delicious food, and very beautiful to look at. We will be back next time in Barcelona

Sebastian C.

Yelp
First time in Barcelona and still getting acclimated to some of the different flavors. I wasn't too sure of exactly what Catalan style chicken was (its roasted). The flavors of the gravy along with the roasted chicken were just Amazing. Highly recommend this dish/restaurant. Also this place is small/cozy and the service is first class.

Jaybea R.

Yelp
This is my 2nd time coming here during my stay in barcelona. The first time I came I had the pincho (tapas) by the bar and had their gin and tonics. The place is very friendly and so far the tapas has been fantastic for a reasonable price as well as being convenient (sit by the bar and you'll know why). I ended up eating 6 tapas (I dont remember what they were and forgot to take a pic... yeah i feel stupid.) I am not much of a gin drinker, but I normally drink seagrams back when I didnt know better, so I ordered the seagrams gin and tonic. It tasted amazing, still not into gin, but not bad at all and it paired nicely with the tapas I chose. I ended up bookmarking the place. So it was my last night here in barcelona before I head back to home to the US. My family wanted to eat somewhere (we travel together, but do different activities.) I wanted to give this place another shot because the first time I came here was tooooo perfect. Came here and got the same hospitality. The servers here, even during busy hours, were nice, gave me really good recommendations, and was able to accomodate my english requests. I ordered their foie gras plate and the old fashioned steak with foie gras with a glass of sangria. Definately craving foie gras because back home, we normally get a smaller portion for an expensive price. My sangria came out, it was sweet and strong (hell yeah, I get annoyed because "tourist traps" normally water down their drinks and Zarautz is Legit!) The foie gras came with hard toast, with a fruit side, other fruit sauces and flower petals as garnish. The fruit and foie gras pairing tasted beautiful. It had a sweet and tangy combination that was irresistable, before I knew it was gone. My old fashioned steak with foie gras came out. It came with thinly sliced peppers, potatoe, foie gras on top of a medium rare steak with bulb onions and garnished with those grass type vegetables and a single shrimp. The foie gras tasted buttery this time and made the steak very flavorful. My family ended up going through the "pinchos" they loved it so much they went back for more. My father ordered the pigtrotters which is grounded pig feet. The pigtrotters were very fatty and our server gave us some bread to pair that made the dish taste ten timea more satisfying. We were contempt, but wanted dessert because why not and dinner has been going well. We shared the chocolate orgasm (chocolate brownie with chocolate mouse and white cream.) The presentation is nice. The brownie was soft, the mouse was as creamy as nutella, the white cream was warm and was drizzled on top of the chocolate. I highly recommend this place and would come back if I ever come back to barcelona (barcelona sants estacion area)

Swandi M.

Yelp
So far this is the one I enjoy the food the most. I went here in the middle of the weekday so there were not a whole lot of people nor waiting. I was able to grab a seat the bar table right away. Love the pinchos they serve out on the table (cold one). I also ordered some hot pinchos. After tried the first piece of duck marget with foie, it was so yummy that I ordered 3 more -- fatty, tender, juicy, and meaty. The place is located at the end of the small street, no big sign able to see from the main street. Google map able to bring me there though. I will go back again to try more pinchos if I visit in the future.

David K.

Yelp
A casual tapas bar near Barcelona Sants, Zarautz has a layout of prepared pinchos, to which you can help yourself, as well as an order of special pinchos to order. Stopping in for lunch, we tried a collection of hot pinchos: the chorizo/cheese, the Spanish tortilla, and a stuffed zucchini. These had all been sitting out for a while, and the waitress reheated them for us, but they were simply not the same as when freshly prepared. We also ordered the "mananico" pincho with baby eels cooked over thinly sliced potatoes, ham, and quail egg, which was delicious--eating the baby eels felt a little bit like eating noodles, and the flavor from the ham and quail egg was so hearty and savory, though the dish overall was quite greasy. We also had the tuna sashimi with wasabi cream, which was an interesting take on a Japanese dish, but the quality of the sashimi did not seem great, though the wasabi cream was a surprisingly good pairing!

Yelp
I found this place online when I was waiting for the AVE train to Madrid. The food is amazing!!! I ate Salmon Tartar (out of menu) and was amazing. The best I ever had. If for any reason you are waiting in Barcelona Sants train station just walk to this place (5 min walk). You won't regret it.

Carmen S.

Yelp
Many of the single bites (pinchos) are pre made and sit on the bar... i can only assume this is why my first one, the spicy kabob, was dry. Or maybe because it had to be rewarmed before serving or the combination of sitting out and reheating, either way it was a miss. The cod fish and tomato pincho was flavorful fresh and cooked well. The highlight for us was the duck with foie gras. We ordered two bites, they were amazing! While the croquette pincho itself was good with the bread it, as a bite, it was dry... in my opinion the bread was a disservice to the bite. We tried 4 different pinchos and two were a miss and one was amazing! I'd go back just for the duck with foie gras bite, if in the area. The sangria terrific and the beer was good. Service was okay, not the friendly service we've had at other places and they weren't busy. We sat at the bar and the waiter / tender almost seemed like we were a bother. My hopes were high after reading the yelp reviews and I really wanted to give this place 4 stars but our experience didn't warrant it.

Eyal T.

Yelp
Authentic, gourmet, vibrant and great service. I had the mixed salad which was refreshing and special and the salmon steak over roasted eggplant and some nut paste. One of the best salmon dishes I ever had. They have more salads and choices for vegetarians and pescatarians. Thank you yelp for the recommendation.

It's okay... average to be honest. For the price there are plenty of better ones out there

Yelp
We had to walk a long walk to get there from our house (30 minutes) but what a restaurant, what awesome waiter and waitress they had. The dishes, the pleasant treatment, the atmosphere and at astonishing reasonable prices were exemplary. We are coming again and again and again

Yelp
a friend of mine recommended this place after seeing her food pics. also, just found out that if you sit at the bar, you can order tapas. if you sit down at the tables, you get the menu minus tapas. we had just arrived from the airport and found this out as we sat down. we were tired and hungry, so we opted for the regular food menu. we didn't order sangria but i was told that their sangria is great here. i ordered the oxtail stew. it had a sweet potato puree and a few sliced potatoes. a few sprouts of arugula provided a great finish to the palate. the meat had a slight crust on top. it was delicious! i ate the whole thing! my friend ordered the codfish with like this black garlic mayo crust on top. looks odd but tastes amazing! it's on top of a bed of sautéed tomatoes and it complements the fish well. the cod was cooked perfectly, soft and buttery. the price point is great!! it's only a few steps from our hotel so i'm stoked i was able to come here. definitely recommend!

Yelp
Great tapas and service. We sat at the bar, there they have different trays from which you can choose your own tapas and they charge based on the amount of toothpicks that end up on your plate. We also had Rabo de toro deshuesado which was super soft and very delicious and alcachofas with cheese.

Yelp
Delicious food, worth every penny. Great location and more than friendly staff. I just wish the tapas (pinchos) were a little better tasting. Unfortunately, they were not all that I expected them to be.

Yelp
If you eat at the bar, the price is lower, instead of eating at the table. I am glad they explained that ahead of time, as we were tourists here. The service was good, but they were busy. We had tapas. We liked the experience but the food was ok, not excellent.

Yelp
We stayed at the Gran Torre Catalunya (right around the corner) and were referred to this place for a late dinner. We had such a great experience here. The food was good (we had tapas) and so were the drinks (beer & wine), but the hospitality and service was the best part. We enjoyed the atmosphere and staff here so much, we came back 2 more times. You can either pick and choose from the tapas they have set up like a buffet at the bar, or order from the bar menu. We did a little of both and everything was delicious. Patatas bravas, grilled veggies, cheese with fig dip, steak and potatoes.

Yelp
This place near where we stay in Barcelona. Found this thru good Yelp review. Taps selections are limited but the quality and taste is very good and so is the price. Pretty expensive for the small portion they serve. There is a bar section with Tapa for which we didn't try. We were sitting on the dinner table. That might explain the price difference. Good overall and my family loved the food here though expensive. We might come back for the second time before we head out of Barcelona

Yelp
Every good world traveler knows that you never eat within 1 mile of a tourist area or train station because it will be all overpriced and underwhelming. But Zarautz defies that rule by being walking distance from the main Barcelona train station and having amazing food, great friendly service and wonderful atmosphere. We enjoyed the pear salad, grilled octopus, selection of six "pinchos" (tapas), and house dessert (Bailey's cake) plus the Orgasmic Chocolate dessert. Wow wow wow. First off, the starter olives were the most amazing olives I've ever eaten. And I have had a lot of olives! My husband, as a first timer to grilled octopus, says he was delightfully surprised at the texture (like a seabass) and yet with a subtle octopus flavor. He thought it was amazing. The pinchos were delicious! My faves were the date/bacon (Datil con bacon) -- sweet and savory -- and the jalapeños (not spicy at all but cheesy and so good)! The rest of the family enjoyed the Black Pudding pinchos. The pear salad was flavorful and pleasing to the eye. The desserts were well...orgasmic. Just like it says. Even though I hate brownies with nuts in them, the chocolate orgasmic brownie had nuts and was still incredible! I've never in my life enjoyed a brownie with nuts in it. Doused in a puddle of white chocolate, this dish was beyond delicious! Thank you Zarautz for giving us a wonderful Barcelona experience!

Yelp

Yelp
This is a very good tapas bar - but they call them pintxos here. There are both hot pintxos and cold pintxos. The menu also offers Basque, Catalan, and Castillan dishes. All the food is excellent. Cozy up to the small bar and pick the pintxos/tapas from large plates sitting on tree logs along the bar. A toothpick is inserted in each dish You are charged by the number of toothpicks you collected at the end of the evening. The restaurant does not open for dinner and tapas until 7:30pm, so do not arrive too early.
