A mixed bag at Zaroob - amazing food, but the service needs work.
My friend and I decided to try Zaroob on Sheikh Zayed Road last weekend, and honestly, it was one of those experiences where the food totally saved the day.
We ordered their mixed platter to share, and wow , every single bite was incredible. The flavors were so authentic and fresh, you could tell they really care about their ingredients.
We also ordered some tabbouleh. I'm absolutely not exaggerating when I say it's the best I've had since moving to Dubai. It was so good that I'm already planning my next visit just for that dish alone! :)
The restaurant itself was cozy, nothing fancy but alright ambiance - lots of colors and energy that makes you feel like you're getting the real Lebanese street food experience, just elevated a bit. Plus, being so close to the metro made it super convenient for us to make it to the restaurant.
The only downside was that we were not offered water automatically, perhaps it's cultural? And we waited quite a bit for the bill.
What really caught me off guard was when we asked for water and found out how pricey it was ... like, it's just water, you know?
And then seeing that 10% service charge automatically added to our bill felt a bit presumptuous, especially given how long we'd been waiting around. I would've preferred to decide for myself how much to tip based on the actual service we received.
This aside, don't get me wrong - I'll definitely be back because that food was just too good to pass up. I just really hope they can sort out the service side of things.
With food this amazing, the whole experience could be absolutely perfect if they just paid a bit more attention to taking care of their customers.
