Zax Restaurant

I visited this place while in town for work. I was looking for a good steak, and this place had lots of reviews. The service and the waiter were excellent. The steak was one of the most disappointing steaks i have ever eaten. The cut was bad it wasn't seasoned at all and was cooked by someone who thinks you cook a steak by heating it up in a pan. Way, way overpriced. If this steak had cost $15 I would have been fine with that. Instead it was $39. Do not get the steak here!

The food and service was great. I ordered the honey chicken pizza, pickle fries, and a few drinks which were all delicious. Service was quick and professional. The jalapeño ranch sauce is top-tier. The ambiance was really cool and perfect to sit out on the patio even though it was hot out since they have misters. There is a parking lot is down the street a couple blocks that is spacious enough for trailers, so you don’t have to park on the Main Street.

We enjoyed our pizzas and appetizers. I wouldn't recommend the Peachy Sweet Tea alcohol drink. It was very weak for $9. It wasn't much different than our wives' $3 non alcohol tea. Margaritas were all good. Appetizers come quickly. We are here twice during our stay. Service was great by both of our servers.

Nice corner restaurant! Very popular. Also quite noisy. We sat on the second floor with a view of snow-capped mountains. Fast, attentive (but not overly friendly) service. I had their "Tree Hugger Pizza" which was outstanding in every respect. My wife had their "Zax Burger" which was substantial and tasty. Wide selections of excellent beers on tap as well as the hard stuff. There are a few wines, one of which she ordered and recommends you stick to the beers and margaritas. Handicapped using wheelchairs will find easy access to the first floor only. Be aware that your bill will include a suggested tip starting at 18% which (they do note) does include the 10% tax in their suggested tip calculation.

We tried spinach ravioli and fish and chips. We went on a sunday afternoon after visiting Arches national park. Food was kind of ok but the atmosphere was good enough.

Bravo!! These folks know how to properly use spices and ingredients! I had the steak pasta which was warm and spicy with tender steak and delicious tomatoes and spinach. The chipotle sauce was perfect! My husband had a pepperoni pizza which was surprisingly tasty for what it was! Maybe it was the cheese that made it stand out, but it seemed like the perfect blend of all ingredients cooked just right in the wood fired oven. My in-laws shared fettuccine Alfredo with a chicken kabob. They loved it! The server was efficient and not a pest. He visited often and visually assessed unless someone made eye contact and then he verbally checked on us. Perfect! The atmosphere was laid back and my husband was able to watch some of his football game. I have absolutely zero complaints about this place! Don’t skip this one.

I just ate the world's most PERFECT margherita pizza! My server, Josh, was kind, smiling, and attentive. I also loved getting to see the cute dogs in the outdoor patio. Thank you!

Good food, tried pesto pizza it was yummy. Chicken sandwich was tangy good!

Food was excellent!!! We ordered the Ramon large pizza and 2 sodas and it was delicious. The crust of the pizza was not soggy with grease and was made to perfection. The service was a little slow but the place was packed so this is not a negative but a positive because of busy it was we were expecting it to take longer. Our waiter was on top of everything, I even noticed that the table next to us the waiter asked for some else to bring them something and as he walked by he said he would go get himself and did, so kudos on the service. Ambiance is what it is on a busy night. Lots of hustle and bustle going on, some kids screaming because they are upset about something so if you're expecting a quiet restaurant this not your place. The only downside to the experience is parking. Parking is very limited in the area especially if you're not from like me. While I was waiting for my order to arrive I noticed a policeman outside the restaurant. I went and explained where I was and he very nice and allowed me to park where I was without getting a citation. I thanked him and wished him a happy new year and went back inside and ate a wonderful meal. Maybe they should acquire the lot across the street for additional parking, just a thought.

My husband remembers this restaurant from 12 years ago. I have no idea why. He has no taste so I should have know not to expect much. Haha He remembered eating on the balcony upstairs. There's so much traffic going by it was a bit hard to talk. I ordered the Greek salad. It was like they poured oil in the dish and put the salad on top. The top lettuce pieces were dry. There was no lemon flavor in the dressing. Did they forget? My husband had the fish and chips. He said he liked it. He decided to order ice cream for dessert. He ordered a sundae. It came with nothing on top. Did they forget? He ordered a gin and tonic. It came with club soda. Obviously they did forget which button to push. Too many options to return to Zax!

We love Zax! The food is ALWAYS outstanding. We've had dozens of great meals here. Service is really good. Restaurant and bathrooms are always clean. It's family friendly and reasonably priced. Try the beer cheese soup! It's consistently excellent! We will return.

Bartender Tony was terrific! Very personable. Shout out to apprentice Dillon. Their specialty cocktail Sex in the Desert is awesome as are the margaritas. Individual pizzas were great too - CYO or specialty. There's something for everyone. Be aware Zax closes between 8 and 830 during the off season.

We got there a little after they opened at 11 and had the restaurant to ourselves. We ate inside but they have a great seating area outside. We decided on burgers which they have a great selection of them. I chose the J. Buffet Cheese Burger and the sweet potato fries. The fries were delicious, crisp with a hint of sweetness. My burger was perfectly cooked and the bun was just right. In all our travels, this is one of the best burgers I've tasted. The server was helpful, and the service was fast. I highly recommend this place.

Great atmosphere. Super nice staff! Food was delicious. Noticed while there a few locals came in and they were treated by name by the staff. Kudos!

This gets a 5 star review from me purely for their customer service. We travelled here when our team was in the NIT championship game. Normally not a big deal but our team has been terrible for a super long time and so it was a really big deal for us. We called ahead to see if they had TVs that would be playing it and if we could have any sound. They said yes! Once we got there, they put it on a main tv and turned up the volume loud enough for us to hear. We are soo thankful for them!! As far as food goes, everything was good. We got the spinach and artichoke as an appetizer. It came with either pita chips or tortilla chips so we got half and half. Get the pita chips fried! For entrees, we got the Zax burger and the sweet n' spicy crunchy chicken sandwich. We really really liked the Zax burger and would get it again. However, I didn't love the chicken sandwhich. We also got the Zax Big Cookie with Ice Cream. We didn't think that was worth it either.

Food was delicious our waitress Hidi was great loved her. I had the black and blue burger was amazing. The pickle fries are so good.

This is for a take out review: After reading several reviews and craving pizza after a long drive, we chose this place. It was a 3 minute walk across the street from our hotel. We ordered a large with sausage, mushrooms and olives. And the Apple walnut salad. There was 2 of us. Simple right? The pizza was so bad I barely could eat one slice. It was undercooked, soggy, doughy and not tasty at all! Even the sauce was a big disappointment. The salad was the hit, but very small for $17 Spinach, chicken, fried croutons, candied walnuts and berries with a delicious salad dressing was enjoyable. I would not stop here again! Phone service was pleasant and food was ready in 20 minutes.

Wonderful experience here! Heidi was our server and she was amazing -- super friendly, personable and fast. With it being so hot, before our drinks got empty fast and Heidi refilled them so quickly before we could even ask. The food was great American food and the price was not too bad. We got the Zax Burger, Cobb salad and kids meal Mini Corndogs. The restaurant was clean and the air conditioning felt so good inside. Everything looked very clean from the waiting area to the bathrooms. We definitely recommend this place!

The pizza in our to-go order was not cooked, it was literally cold in the center and yet, somehow, they managed to cook the cheese and toppings. Cold pizza, nearly raw dough. Just awful.

Zax Restaurant is a fun place I love to stop and eat at when I'm in Moab. I got the Zack mac & cheese and it was really good. The noodles were a little hard though so next time I'm there I'll probably try something different. Every time I've been here it is always crowded so the service is a little slow on refilling liquid. The atmosphere is fun and they have lots of seating available. There is no parking so good luck finding somewhere on the street.

If you're indecisive and don't know where to go, promise you, this is the place you want to try. Food was amazing, we got the Cauliflower bites as well, everything was hot fresh and so good. The pizza crust was something I've never had before, I'm a huge pizza person, this was fu^^ing amazinggggg

It was OK. I ordered take out and didn't get a chance to really make some comments about the dining area or the service. But, the dining area is plentiful with inside and outside lower dining as well as outside dining on the second floor. I think it's a little pricey for what you can order elsewhere including the Crispy Cobb Salad and the Ancho Chicken sandwich. For take out, a 15% service fee is added on along with a suggested additional tip. Parking is on the street or around the back.

Stopped here to grab dinner. To our delight they have a dog friendly patio area. For that alone they get 5 stars. The patio is also heated for those cool desert nights. Our food was good. Be sure to try the sweet potato fries! The onion rings were good also. Service was fair, tbh it did take a little while to get water and to order but after that it was great. Also the menu has tons of options.

We had pizza and a burger. All excellent. If you get a burger, do the $2 up charge for the local meat. It was delicious. We sat on the balcony upstairs. Cool atmosphere, good service and excellent food.

Omg! The food was so good! Traveling over the past couple of weeks, we found ourselves hungry in Moab and decided to check out Zax. I had decided no pizza until I walked in. The smell! Pizza was on point and more than enough for two people! Our teen had the BBQ sandwich and was in heaven. Service was wonderful; very friendly. We look forward to visit again!

The first thing to say is that Esther is an excellent server. We had 4 couples at our table not sitting together and she had no problem understanding who was who and coordinating so that those who split a meal with something extra like a salad was taken care of easily. We ate upstairs and had a nice outside view or of baseball games on the TV set above our table. Two different couples ordered pizza and both liked the taste although there was less chicken on the BBQ chicken than usually found at other restaurants and although ordered, pineapple was not put on the pizza as requested. Note for those who are dairy free, they have vegan cheese! The couples that ordered burgers enjoyed theirs as well. Nobody had alcohol as it was lunchtime and as tourists we didn't want to drink at lunchtime. All in all everyone enjoyed the service, the view and the food.

I would say this place is good but not quite great. The staff was super nice and very helpful. The ambience was relaxed and felt between a sports bar and pizza spot. The fried pickles were hands down the best thing we had, give them a try. The pizza was good but it was slightly undercooked which led to a gooey result on the crust and some of the meat not fully hot.

The pizza was exceptional the fettuccine Alfredo was very good. The service was very good and friendly. The atmosphere was a little loud but this was because there was a large group with children near us. Good place and I certainly recommend you try Zac.

We were walking around Moab looking for a place to get a drink that was not our hotel. Oddly enough, a few restaurants we popped into were closing on a weekday night. Walking further, we found Zax and took seats at the bar. We just had beers but it was what we were looking for that night. We can't comment on the food but noticed a few others still ordering meals and I be they were glad the kitchen was open. Our bartender was quick and efficient with our service and bill payment. We're glad we stopped in.

A pleasant surprise! We originally tried to go to another restaurant, but that didn't work out, so we were hungry and ended up at Zax. It was a lovely dinner and worth more than the three stars it currently has on Yelp! Our waiter was a little strange (flat affect, lacking a smile or friendliness, but I think that's part of his background - not American). His service was good and prompt. My chicken sandwich was spicy but good! He got me a side salad instead of fries which I really liked and appreciated! My husband really enjoyed his pizza. The restaurant was large, clean, inviting and service and food was prompt! We even said we would go back if we couldn't find another restaurant the next night! Yum!

Stopped in for dinner with friends in the bar area. Service was quick and friendly. We shared the pickle fries and wings as apps. I had the Greek salad as an entree. The apps were great but the salad was a little lackluster.

Ordered takeout beware 15% tacked on to Every takeout!!!... they do not accommodate preferred time of pick up. Pizza was marginal and salad was disappointing.

Ordered a pesto pizza and got something else that was loaded with veggies and was soggy. Server should have caught this.

It's one of those places that wants you in and out in 20 minutes. They delivered the appetizer and main at the same time. When I commented, the man bringing the food said "It's what the kitchen do". When the server checked in on us I mentioned the appetizer and main arrived and the same time and she said "It's not my fault." Neither said sorry and I guess they weren't sorry because its clearly the business model to turn tables asap.

I will let you know that there is nothing special about the food, nothing that would give you a desire to return. The large meat pizza is smaller than what you would imagine a large pizza to be. The waiter was not very cordial, not like they need to be, just saying. We went there because it was one of the few restaurants open. If you are in a crunch, it will work.

Overall meh, but prices were fantastic. We all agreed that there was a twist on the salads and we would have preferred the originals... example.. the Caesar salad had tomatoes and a different dressing. And the Cobb came with a honey sauce. Ok, but not when I was in the mood for a Caesar salad. We were able to bring the dog on the patio so that was great for traveling and they had mist sprays as well. Parking is available on the street.

The pizza crust may have needed to bake a bit longer as it wasn't crispy. They also charge $2 per topping for a large pizza when doing create your own which seems excessive. Probably would try a different spot next time I'm in Moab craving pizza. The service was good.

Moab doesn't have a lot of 5 star dining. Its a lot of the same things, but this place has a cool atmosphere, wings were good, margarita was decent. Spruced up for the holidays which I appreciate. So would be one of my top 5 picks for a winter trip.

The Greek salad was good, the beer was good, and the waitress was pleasant. The "greeting" we received on the way in and on the way to our table (2 different young ladies) was between disinterest and a sneer. The management should consider training the teenagers (?) who take folks to their table on basic etiquette and how to warmly interact with customers. Some customers care about this.

Good causal spot to dine at. The weather was perfect to be outside. We had dinner and lunch here while we were out here.

My husband had a pizza and I had the fish and chips. The food was good. Tara the waitress was awesome!

Zax is the burger joint of my dreams! Not only do they have a mouth-watering selection of burgers that will make your taste buds do the happy dance, but they also cater to us gluten-free folks. I mean, who knew you could have a gluten-free bun that actually tastes good? Zax does, that's who. And let's not forget the fact that the staff actually knows what gluten is and can help guide you through the menu. So, if you're looking for a place to satisfy your burger cravings without the gluten guilt, Zax is the place to go. Trust me, your stomach will thank you.

Puppy Friendly Patio !!! (Huge!) There were dogs already there and we asked at hostess stand. Very friendly & accommodating staff. No more All You Can Eat Pizza. They said due to Covid. We had a great section to ourselves & the two pups. The hubs & I each got our own personal & split a side of fried pickles! A little salty but still tasty. Plain chicken breast for the pups. They were extremely satisfied! Thank You Zax! *note to self- Next time we should check out the giant upstairs patio ! Curious of the view. (7/6/23)

I was shocked that there was no wait because the place looked packed! We also had a super attentive helpful server. He brought out a bowl to show how but the kid meal was and he brought out a sauce sample for another picky eater in our party. My daughter got a create your own pizza and said it was good and that she loved the bacon. My son got a buffet burger and also enjoyed it plus he said the fries were a nice texture. I'm on a diet and got a cauliflower crust garden veggie pizza with vegan cheese. I didn't like it but good vegan cheese is rare. Once I got a side of pizza sauce I masked that fake cheese and it was much better! I was grateful I could eat at a restaurant with friends with all my dietary restrictions!

We stopped for a quick lunch and were not disappointed. Outdoor or indoor seating, fire on the patio. Fish and chips were tasty, and the pizza delicious. Obviously homemade crust really put it over the top. Truffle fries were very tasty and not too oily. Definitely recommend!

For a perfectly average pizza location with average waiters and disappointed hosts, it's fine for Moab. I'm not impressed and I find that my father would enjoy this place more than I would. The first time I was here I got the pizza to go and it was fairly good by itself, but going inside isn't worth it. If it wants to catch up to the times it should change some environment, menu and menu items. Also this place may need better management to inspire their staff again. I probably won't be coming here again even though the pizza was good enough to eat again.

We stayed in Moab for about three nights and tried a few different local places. We stopped at Zax for pizza and salad. Food was good and prices decent for a vacation/tourist spot. Service was decent. Our service seemed to know the duties of his job, and could perform them, but just wasn't very personable or friendly, but not rude. We'd stop again for a meal.

We had a large pizza and a dill salad. The pizza was burned and super thin crust. The bread in the pizza was not good quality. The salad had potential but then it was crazy small for a $15 salad. Overall disappointed with the money and time spent.

Got the zaks burger. Which was good. But they are over priced and charge a 15 percent mandatory tip on take out orders. Why am I tipping to take food to go?

Arrived in Moab and was craving pizza. Called in and had in ready in 15 minutes. Great service

Everything from the food, service and ambiance was just amazing! We ordered the zax burger, Mac and cheese, and spinach ravioli. All AMAZING! And we had absolutely no wait. It was great!

So down in ole Moab we decided to hit this place up for dinner. The service was better then the food, even though they forgot my fries. The fish was good the tartar sauce I think went thru a blended and was watery. The salad was good but the Bleu cheese dressing mustve gone thru the same blender as the sauce. There was a total of 5 of us for dinner and the unanimous decision was a two star rating. The ribeye steak comes with an over abundance of fat, and not timed properly. So go and enjoy what I consider to be military chow hall quality food, unfortunately not chow hall prices

The blonde host was so extremely rude and disrespectful when seating us that we got up and left after she sat us. Not how u keep customers.

We came in early on a Saturday. We had two servers. Ibo and maybe Fatim (who was being trained). They took great care of us. The food came out quickly. We ordered two different burgers, a chicken sandwich and a Greek salad with a chicken kabob. All were delicious and the serving size was large. We had a great lunch. Great food and great service and would definitely come back.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Food and atmosphere were good. My wife got The club blt which was good. I got The beef hobo which was kind of like a French dip but I found it bland overall. My son split a potato pizza and said it was good. Service stared strong but fizzled a bit by the end.

The service at this establishment was fine. We were seated on the upstairs patio which was a very nice atmosphere. It had plenty of shade so it wasn't too hot and the fresh air was nice. I ordered a large spinach and sun dried tomato pizza. The toppings including the cheese were of high quality which elevated the pizza. My one slight complain is that there is slightly too much cheese and it weighs down the pizza once it is no longer super fresh. To drink I got a tall PBR which paired nicely with the artisan style pizza. The meal was reasonably priced costing me roughly 35 dollars for the large pizza and drink including tip. I would highly recommend stopping to eat here if you are ever in Moab.
