Zazen Boutique Resort Spa, Koh Samui, Thailand - Explore & Book

"The beach is small and can get busy, but that is really the only downside of Zazen Boutique Resort on the north coast of Koh Samui. Sitting at one end of Bo Phut, it’s a romantic and intimate place to escape with a partner, and it prides itself on its restorative qualities ('zazen' is a meditative pose). There’s a spa with a very long treatment list, a romantic restaurant serving Thai fusion cuisine, and you can idle away the days sipping fantastic cocktails by the pool, taking boat trips or exploring the nearby fishermen's village. The 26 bungalows are spacious and spoiling, with enormous beds, open-plan lounges and sleek bathrooms. Scattered through exotic gardens and coconut groves, large windows show off the bird of paradise flowers, and the glass doors give onto private terraces. Active types can go diving and snorkelling, visit an elephant sanctuary, swing through the rainforest canopy or head out into the blue for deep-sea fishing. So if you’re wound up, wiped out or in need of something wonderful, take my advice and treat yourself to a week here. Highs Really easy to get to; just 9km from Koh Samui airport, and a 5-minute taxi ride (or 15-minute beach walk) from Fisherman’s Village Extremely kind staff who get to know you by name, serving chilled face towels and authentic Thai smiles We loved our spacious suite, with its calm decor and its patio with a lazy swinging chair Award-winning restaurant serving exotic Thai fare alongside fine European cuisine - among the island's best dining The spa treatments are superb - our Thai massage was the best of a dozen we tested in southern Thailand Lows The beach is small and can get busy with people and boats; not great for swimming The Suites are only a few metres from each other - opt for a Garden Villa if you can Food and spa treatments aren't cheap, but they're heavenly The music by the pool can be quite loud for what is otherwise a tranquil sanctuary" - Michael Cullen

5 things to do with your family if you only have a day in Koh Samui - SilverKris

"A luxurious, culture-minded retreat that appeals to older families, featuring 65 sq m garden villas with king-size beds and day beds and interiors showcasing regional art and artifacts; the property also includes a shop selling one-off Thai antiques and local art and can arrange experiences such as Thai cooking classes and sailing trips to a nearby marine park aboard a traditional Burmese junk boat." - SilverKris

The location at the end of the beach is really nice, you are about a 2km walk into fisherman's village, which has its benefits and disadvantages. We loved the room, pool, restaurant, staff, and location. |The food is really good, a good breakfast selection and dinner were equally as good. We never had lunch, but a lot of outsiders do come for lunch. There are a few local restaurants nearby that do good cheap Thai meals. Also a few laundromat within 500m walk.|Staff were always friendly and polite. The pool is awesome, big enough, and generally enough sun lounges. The room was clean and tidy, maybe a little on the small side. A couple of things in the room I found unusual. The shower water goes into the main bathroom area, and the only way to stop it is to lay a hand towel at the edge of the shower. Also the raised bed seems strange, it may just be for a point of difference, I see no other reason for it.|The spa is really good and prices are reasonable, much cheaper than other resorts. We would stay again depending on cost.

I recently dined at Zazen Restaurant and would like to share my experience with the hope that it may help improve the level of service provided. While the restaurant itself is beautifully designed and the food including both main dishes and desserts was truly delicious and well-presented, the service unfortunately did not meet the standards I would expect from an establishment of this level. Most of the staff appeared inattentive and disengaged. They did not make eye contact, did not acknowledge guests promptly, and seemed more focused on clearing tables or arranging settings than attending to current customers. Despite calling out multiple times, it was difficult to get their attention. No smile, no eye contact, no welcome The one exception was a staff member named Oil, who stood out with her friendliness and positive demeanor. Her warm service made a strong impression and was greatly appreciated. The bill of the food. I do not regret paying this amount, as the food and ambiance were truly lovely. However, the service charge included in the bill would feel more justified if the service consistently reflected the standard expected of a professional hotel restaurant. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I believe Zazen has great potential with a bit more attention to guest service

Very good location, not far from Fishermans Village. Very nice hotel. Actually boutique - beautiful and very well-maintained garden, cottages integrated into the greenery, great attention to the details of finishing and decor. The service is really great and this applies to everyone, from the reception, to the waiters, bartenders and housekeepers. The cottages are small, but perfectly adequate. Well, and great quality of meals in the restaurant - a class of its own. A great place for a few days stay. However: One small detail - in the shower, painting can happen. And one flaw of great importance - the air conditioning in the cottage was inefficient and insufficient. One wall-mounted air conditioner would certainly work well in a 20-square-meter room, but in a 65-square-meter cottage, despite working at maximum and making a sound like an airplane, it could not manage to cool the room below 26-27 degrees C. During the heat it makes a big difference in comfort - we didn't get enough sleep, both because of the noise of the air conditioner and because of the temperature from which you are sticking to your pillow in the room.

We recently stayed at Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa on Koh Samui, and the location truly is something special. The resort is tucked away in a peaceful area with lush gardens and charming little garden houses that give the whole place a very intimate and relaxing vibe. The view from both the pool and the restaurant is absolutely stunning – especially at sunset. It’s a beautiful spot to unwind and enjoy the island atmosphere.||However, despite the lovely setting, we were a bit disappointed with the level of service. For a resort of this standard and price range, we expected more attentive and professional service. Many staff members had only a very basic level of English, which unfortunately led to several misunderstandings and incorrect orders, particularly with food and drinks.||Another thing worth mentioning is that the resort seems to be quite popular among Instagram influencers and selfie lovers. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it did sometimes take away from the calm and relaxing vibe we were hoping for, as there always seemed to be someone staging photos around the property.||Overall, Zazen is a visually beautiful place with great potential – but for it to truly stand out as a top-tier boutique experience, there needs to be a stronger focus on service quality and guest experience.

We can't thank the Zazen team enough for their kindness and care. Everything was perfect. My son had a wee accident in the pool and Now, one of the team drove him to hospital, picked him back up and also took us for the follow up appointment the following day. They went above and beyond. Massages were brilliant and really reasonable, not over priced like other hotels. It was a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommend 🙏

Zazen Resort is among the best on Koh Samui. We stayed in a beachfront villa, watching the sea and listening to the waves from our bedroom. It was magical. The villa is huge, with a fantastic living room and a spacious bathroom. All the staff are truly exceptional and friendly, but I must highlight Ida and Milk. Their energy, kindness, and smiles brighten the day. Thank you, Zazen. It was wonderful!

We had our daughter's wedding at this venue - The Day was enjoyed by all of us, but the venue is badly let down by disinterested staff and very poor service. The bride and groom were the last to receive their meals for a start.||We paid for tow hours of the 'free bar', but this included only the basic wines and one choice of beer (Chang) - The table service for the second hour was dreadful, and I was informed by the manager (Tita Porn) that with half an hour to go, there was no wine left to be distributed to the diners, who were still eating or waiting for food. At £1600 for two hours, this felt like a complete rip off. Funnily enough the wine was on sale again after the two hours had elapsed. Only one member of staff making cocktails, while other servers stood by meant nearly twenty minutes wait for one round of drinks. Food service during the meal was erratic with tables receiving their dishes at different times, so people were effectively eating on their own. There was only about 45 of us, and we shared the venue with other customers. Considering this was booked well in advance, the venue showed that it cannot cope with even a small function. Prices, compared to the rest of the island that we experienced, were inflated. It is a shame, as the setting is lovely and the service for the wedding was well organised.

One of the best hotel I stayed for my personal taste I love small boutique hotel with lot of attention to details. Beautiful stylish, never crowded, pool and sanbeds are very comfy. Location is nice. Small private beach also amazing. Food is the restaurant is great taste one of the best. I would improve a breakfast section, and make a note that place is located inside jungle area - there is lot of moscitos, but spray will help u with that.
