Heard a lot of good things about this place. Overall it was pretty good. But to be honest the price felt a bit high for what we received. Service was very pleasant and it felt like a real neighborhood spot. Glad we tried it.

Was exciting to try a fondue place in Switzerland. Found this place base on google and reddit recommendation. Arrived this place for our first night in zurich, no wait for a table. This restaurant have a limited menu, ordered fondue and chicken wings with fries. The wings were well season, the fries was too bland. Now comes the fondue, we were disappointed with it, there was a strong alcohol taste in the fondue and we finished amybe 10% of it. One of the review on google mentioned, there is 50% wine in the fondue and I have to agree. Now the bill come and the price for the fondue is $28 X 2, not knowing when the owner asks fondue for 2? Meaning the price is double. I would recommend this place only if someone is into alcohol in the fondue otherwise this place is not for you.

Fondue was amazing, taste even better at the end when the whole thing thickens! Very cute little shop run by a wholesome old man :) only thing is that I wished the language barrier stopped me from buying $6 mineral water when I wanted tap :(

Great fondue, the waiter was not happy about us trying just one portion,but in the end he understood we just wanted to try it. Very tasty and fulfilling, parking just next to the place

Amazingly good fondue although it's provided with bread only. The taste and aroma is perfect. The other item they are good at is the chicken wings. So crispy and nicely spiced with a great dip!

We had cheese fondue and chicken wings with mixed salad, both were very nice and tasty! The owner (who is also the chef & waiter! Superb one-man band!) is very kind and attentive to every customer, we felt very welcomed and enjoyed our dinner very much. We really hope to come back for the great food and meet the great owner again soon! :) P.S. There is no English menu but this warm & cosy restaurant only serves a few specialties so it wouldn’t be difficult to make your order. You may ask the owner for drink recommendations too. While there are more customers in the restaurant please kindly be patient and wait to be served if there is only the owner. He is really nice and professional!

I think maybe I’m a novice when it comes to fondue and how it’s supposed to taste and be made. I’ve tasted in the United States, but maybe we’re not doing right. The way this restaurant did it was not quite to my liking. There was a very heavy alcohol flavor and aftertaste and maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be but it was a little too strong and overpowered the cheese. All I got is the fondue and salad, but all the reviews are raving about the chicken wings.

Well, did not really stay. Just chicken wings, nuggets and bread and cheese. Seemed like a nice place but wanted a wider variety for my fondue experience in Zurich.

Great cozy spot and the owner was really accommodating despite speaking almost no English. Codie was sold for a good price as were the wings.

Super casual place with fondue that is absolutely delicious and a great price for Zurich. The man who is the waiter/chef/owner (?) is very nice and efficient. Would go back next time we're in Switzerland

Food was amazing ! The cheese fondue is a must try, the taste is beyond expectation with a generous portion of bread to come with. We also ordered chicken wings and they were well done, with great flavouring and very crispy. Service was outstanding as well ! A must try spot if you are ever in Switzerland

Zebra Bar is a really cool little place in Zurich. My group and I were on the lookout for Fondu and we found it here at Zebra Bar. When we walked in they were not very busy, and the guy behind the bar was doing pretty much everything. I really think it was a 1 person show who serves, bartends, cooks, cleans and does everything. The guy was super friendly and nice. This place has two things that they are really known for. 1 being the fondu and 2. being they are known for there chicken wings. The fondu is expensive. It was E24.50 per person to do fondu. That is expensive for fondu. So what we did was one person got fondu and we all shared it. The chicken wings here are good. They only have one sauce and that is bbq. It was super good and we needed that change and to have something we were all used to. Overall a really fun and good little place to grab a bite to eat. The fondu is expensive but the other food is really good and not bad in price. The fondu is really tasty and I am sure they don't want you to share, but with such limited staff they would not know. We enjoyed the fondu and would highly recommend this place to people looking for a fun night out in Zurich!

The fondue was disgustingly bad. Much too salty and no cheese flavor at all. And the dipping bread was poor quality too. Don't waste your money on this place.

We stopped by for a "traditional" Swiss fondue experience, and we definitely got one. My husband and I split a pot of fondue (served with cubes of bread) for dinner and it was delicious. As other Yelpers have said, Zebra Bar is run by one guy who was very hospitable to us. He doesn't speak English very well, but you can get by with pointing at the menu and saying "danke." It is a less expensive version of fondue with all the same taste, so I would recommend it to friends! It was 25 Francs per person for the fondue where it would easily be 45-50 Francs per person at other establishments in Zurich.

We were actually on a search for a fondue spot when we fortunately ended up at this location. In that regard, we've determined that for the most part, unless you get to a restaurant at a relatively early time for fondue, you will definitely need a reservation. Going back to the Zebra Bar, we arrived at a relatively late hour to an empty venue. We sat with caution and doubt toward the quality of food being that we were the only other group dining there. The Zebra Bar is a bit tucked away from the downtown area, while the entrance is not too spectacular relative to other restaurants. The menu itself was sparse in options, mainly offering a wide selection of drinks rather than food. There was only one fondue option, along with a handful of bar-grill style food. This further cast doubt on our dining party, however, we were already committed. We ended up ordering the fondue for 3, with a side order of 14 wings paired with the house white wine. We were delightfully surprised on the quality of food and service. I'm not sure if there is a way to mess up fondue at this point, but the fondue here was great. Compared to another restaurant specializing in fondue, the fondue serve here at the Zebra Bar was a bit more fluid and "watery" in consistency. Along with the mild flavor of the cheese, it made the consumption less monotonous and heavy in my personal opinion; after eating cheese and bread for a while, I find that my taste buds get tired of the taste and eating any more would not be advantageous. Paired with white wine, you cannot go wrong. The wings were bomb. These are probably some of the best wings I've had at any restaurant. They reminded me of the chicken wings served at a restaurant by the name of Capitols in the San Francisco Chinatown, just without the garlic. They come with a dipping sauce, but they were simply amazing by themselves. Shout out to the other Yelpers who have commented on how great these were. The service itself was great. There was only one server at the time, this happy older gentlemen. He was very pleasant to talk with and was super friendly. and helpful. He made what could have been a tank-of-a-dining choice into a overall great experience. Overall, very neat spot, and would recommend to anyone looking for a more quiet and hole-in-a-wall, divy dining experience.

Perfect example of a neighborhood bar. Small menu, went for the fondue and wasn't disappointed. As others have mentioned run by an older gentleman that didn't really speak any English but that wasn't a problem at all. He was very friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for Swiss fondue it is a great place to go. It is right off the tram so it is easy to get to.

Just in town for a few hours on a Thursday morning. Stumbled across this well reviewed place on Yelp and it certainly didn't disappoint! When in Switzerland, one must dip into the staples and this does them very well. The fondue is 24 Swiss francs a person and totally worth it! Add a local pint and you are up to 30 francs. You won't regret it!

After reading the reviews, my girlfriend and I decided to try this place out since we wanted to try fondue. I will admit that walking in, we were the only ones there and we were a bit skeptical. The elderly gentleman that served us was extremely polite and only spoke German. We ordered fondue and chicken wings and fries and it was extraordinary! It was pricey but I would go here over and over again, I absolutely loved it. The gentleman was such a sweet and caring guy and I wish I spoke German so I could have a conversation with him. If you're thinking of going here, don't think, just go and you'll love it!!

Wanted fondue in Zurich and Zebra Bar close to our hotel. Excellent cheese fondue. We also tried the wings and they were delicious as well. Amazing service and food!

BEST CHICKEN WINGS IN TOWN!!! If you pass by this place it doesn't look like much but once you step inside and meet Josef, the owner, you don't want to leave anymore. Especially after you have tried his delicious chicken wings with this amaaazing spicy sauce! The owner is a very friendly guy, who runs this place all by himself (service, kitchen, etc.) - a real ONE MAN SHOW! Oh and not to forget to mention, in winter you can have a delicious Fondue - for all the cheese lovers :)

Husband and i went for Fondue while on vacation in Zurich, and we were not disappointed. I ignored the "top fondue restaurant" recommendations, and opted for this place after reading the only other review about how the owner operates as a one man show. Figured we would support a super small business. Definitely a great value (if you are in Zurich, you know how costly it is, so this is a big bonus). The owner is a very sweet man, who clearly cares about his work and the food is FANTASTIC. He even brought us complimentary digestif shot after our meal. If we find ourselves in Zurich again, we will definitely be back. I am sorry I could not write this in German, I'm not the best at written German. BUT DEFINITELY GO EAT HERE.

Anyone that knows me knows I live by Yelp when it comes to restaurants and I haven't been let down yet! We went to The Zebra Bar tonight for fondue and it had 4 1/2 stars so we said what the heck! Walked in and no one was in there at about 7pm and it looked on the older side. An elderly gentleman greeted us and we ordered the chicken wings with pomme frites and cheese fondue, what everyone raves about. Wow, it was amazing and the gentleman was the sweetest and he did everything on his own. Never judge a book by its cover! If you ever get the chance, check this place out!! 5

Great fondue with no frills. It's a bit of a trek from the downtown area for anyone relying on getting places on foot, but well worth it if you're not looking to drop $40 on fondue. Like other reviewers, went with the fondue and an order of the wings. The owners generously gave us a few extra wings--a fantastic dry rub, not spicy and delicious--for us to share. The highlight really was the fondue. We sat around a while and took our time with the meal, but the owner noticed our empty bread basket and hurriedly rushed to get us more without us asking (+1 since we didn't speak the language). We had a lovely meal despite the language barrier!

I was looking for authentic cheese fondue at a reasonable price in Zurich and Zebra Bar was perfect. My travel partner did not want fondue but loved the chicken wings. We went around 7pm during the week and there was no wait. The waiter was not fluent in English but was friendly and knew enough to help us with our order. Very authentic atmosphere - definitely recommend!

We really wanted to like this place. It seems like a small local business. We came here when the original fondue place we planned to eat didn't have availability. We should've turned around when we saw only one other couple in the restaurant. The waiter was helpful with us and our limited German. We ordered fondue and chicken wings. The chicken wings were good, but fondue wasn't nearly as good as I've had at another restaurant in the city. I could taste the wine. My friend thought it was fine until she had some the following day in Lucerne. She realized that what we had wasn't good. The service was very, very slow. Which is fine, esp if you aren't in a rush. The waiter was also the cook. Our guess is that he's the owner. He was having a drink with the other couple in the restaurant. This is also why we had an issue getting the bill.

Don't pass this place up. This place is great. We went by the yelp reviews and not one thing was disappointing. The fondue was great and the chicken wings were a nice addition to just cheese. Much respect to the older gentleman running the place. He was attentive and service was great.

Reviews were spot on. Thee is one man running it. Super nice. Limited English but fine. Credit cards accepted. Chf 25 per person for amazing cheese fondue. Youngest child with us was 9 and he didn't charge us for him. A few glasses of wine and this was perfect. Right near 8 tram stop Backeranlage. Not touristy at all.

The best food i had while visiting Zürich. The small restaurant is run by an older man who doesn't speak much English but is so sweet and passionate. You have to get the fondue and it is much cheaper than other restaurants that offer the same foods! This restaurant is so underrated and so good!!
