My family stopped in for a bite and had a most enjoyable experience. delicious cucumber water served immediately, greatful because we were all thirty. Terrific and clever cocktails my son had a basil smash and my hubby had a Margherita. Food was great. My gluten-free pizza Margherita was done to perfection. So glad we popped in it made our vacation.

Crispy Mahi Tacos 🌮 very tasty served by a very approachable and efficient server Alyssa C. Thanks for helping this old guy with my iPhone. Bread Pudding dessert generous proportion definitely enough for two. Cozy patio dining area or indoor bar & tables. Great location in beautiful Del Mar.

Google
Beautiful venue, we sat outside on the patio, which is dog friendly. They have a fire pit to keep the area warm on cool nights. There was a group singing and playing guitars. Classic rock. The waitress was attentive. I ordered the fish of the day. It was grouper with a lemon bernaisa (sp). And it was delightful! The squash that came with it was a perfect complement. We also got the ceviche and it was done to perfection. The pizza was also baked very well. I would definitely be a regular we’re I a local.

Google
Such a great place for lunch! The staff was so friendly. I loved all their menu options, there’s quite a few vegetarian options as well. I got the pizza with ricotta and mushrooms, and it was delicious! It came with a little pot of honey to drizzle over the pizza which was so fun and such a nice touch. I’ll definitely be coming back here again.

Google
The service was great and we enjoyed the happy hour fried calimari. The ambience is casual with views looking West. Reasonable prices. We had the Heirloom tomato salad with arugula and watermelon with herb citrus burrata and white balsamic dressing. Light and refreshing. The other entree was the Monday night special of grilled cheese sandwich made with heirloom tomatoes, basil and Havarta cheese. Accompanying the sandwich was tomato soup. Fantastic flavors and a refreshing take on typical comfort foods. You will not be disappointed.

A walk around to find some dinner, where to go?! Try Zel’s at Del Mar! Outdoor dining, nice service and they have the basics from pizza (including gluten free) to burgers covered! Good food, good prices, good service!

Google
Tasty breakfast in a nice setting. Wonderful service. We enjoyed the chicken and egg on a biscuit with gravy and a breakfast sandwich with egg bacon and avocado. Outside seating was heated. Great for year round. Kudos Zel’s

Dear Zels - where have you gone? We’ve known you for many years now and it seems you strayed from what you are good at. Paper napkins instead of cloth. Undercooked pizza instead of a few inspired, yet simple, hearty entrees. You were the upscale neighborhood staple and then, for reasons I suspect to be differentiation from Jake’s/Spiga/Poseidon decided to become a pizza and burger place. But that’s not your thing and never will be. Please go back to the perfect Zel’s that was our home away from home ❤️

Yelp
Very good food and excellent ambiance for dinner with friends. Would definitely go back again.

Yelp
I think this place is no longer in business? Their phone number says they're not in operation, and not to leave a message.

Breanna M.

Yelp
Happy hour delight! Great prices and delicious food! A friend and I met here on a Wednesday afternoon for happy hour. I had never been to Zel's but was looking forward to trying something new. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant. The place was cute, quaint, updated and very clean. The bartender/ our server Alison was so kind and treated us like we were regulars. We ordered a few things to share and every single thing was so good. I wouldn't get the salad again - it wasn't anything special but everything else I'd revisit. I would definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Everything was terrific! Seven of us Del Mar beach walkers slid into Zel's famished on a Saturday morning. We were quickly seated in the bar area, stragglers and all, with the promise that yes, we would need all of the seats requested Our server was marvelous, she never missed a beat adding menus and drinks as we regrouped. The photo is of a delicious thin cracker-like crust pizza, it is mine, and I devoured 1/2 in short order. Another party raved about the Huevos con Mole;another had Shakshuka(?), did I spell this correctly, and she was very happy. I remember another ordered salad, happy;another Benedict, happy;another Avocado Toast, happy. Despite the very busy restaurant, our check splitting, and raucous conversation, I am delighted to say every one of us give Zel's kudos!

Yelp
Came here for dinner while visiting friends who live down here. The view is beautiful on a nice night and Steven C., our server, was excellent. My fish tacos were really good and my wife enjoyed her salad. Our friends really like it and we'd come back next time we're down here visiting.

Ned T.

Yelp
We had a party of 4 adult last night with a table at 4:30 in the dining area. The food is always good. At about 5 amatuer "open mic" musicians began playing and it was beyond loud... then around 5:30 the management sat a party of at least 15 children and adults for a 6 year old's birthday party behind us. Totally ruined our dining experience...we left immediately as the noise level was beyond intolerable. I've never had a restaurant be so openly in disregard to conflicting dining experiences ... in our experience this is not the type of restaurant which should entertain a 6 year birthday party with adults ...you can't even imagine the amount of screaming .... and couple that with bad music in the bar area ...well with the price of dining out these days in Del Mar ...there are better venues that are much more respectful.

Yelp
An interesting place that's half outside and half indoors with a nice ambiance, especially at night. A large tree is either on or right near the restaurant property and kind of grown into the open restaurant area which I liked. Our waitress was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. The menu isn't particularly large but has nice variety and diverse options, like pizzas, a few types of burgers, great and high quality salads with lots of ingredients that people in my party really enjoyed, and plenty of starters. I love steak, so I ordered the medium rare pan seared 12 oz. New York steak in a Moroccan chermoula sauce, parsley, and these nice red chili threads/strands on top that gave the steak a really nice smoky flavor. The sides were also interesting to say the least, consisting of a fava bean puree and honey roasted sunchokes which essentially act as sliced potatoes but are a little denser. The steak tasted great and was full of flavor, and the sides were nice too. I split it all with another person, and it's plenty of food for two. We also ordered a basket of delicious fries with a little garnish on it and truffle aioli on the side. All in all a very unique dish that I'm very glad to have ordered. Zel's is one of the best restaurants in the Del Mar area, and I'd happily return when I visit again!

Laura W.

Yelp
Tanner is the New Chef and he's Amazing!!! The short rib dish here is to die for!! I'll have to post again in a minute when he brings out the beat Dish that he's going to let me taste as a special treat ‍ I. Can't believe I forgot to take a picture of the short ribs

Nicole D.

Yelp
This spot is extremely charming and has a great location. They had a good amount of vegetarian options. We opted for the burrata appetizer and I had the house-made veggie burger. I was not disappointed by either! The fries that came with the burger were heavenly. I tried the Garden Tonic and the lavender lemon drop, both were refreshing and light. When I came the live music was absolutely lovely. I think I might become a regular!

Michelle G.

Yelp
Everything about our visit to Zel's was fabulous. Our server was great and his recommendations were on point to the mood we were in. Once the food came we were in aw. Everything looked so delicious. Well, it all tasted better than it looked. Loved everything and we can't wait to return next time we are in the area.

Nick Y.

Yelp
Zel's is a wonderful spot! We had the most amazing waitress who had the best recommendations. I wasn't feeling anything specific but asked my waitress some of her favorites and most popular dishes was given some amazing options. We had the "Burrata and Stone Fruit" that was delicious, definitely a 5/5. The "Our Naughty Bar Food Item" was a solid 4/5. The shrimp on the top, the tater tots, the sauce, all super good. I think it was just very dense, and the Old Bay was a little overpowering. The "Del Mar Warm Chicken Salad" was phenomenal. I can't remember the last time I have had chicken that good. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It was kept, in a great location, and classy for a more casual restaurant. I highly recommend trying Zel's and especially trying their "Burrata and Stone Fruit"!

Yelp
Do not come during Friday night peak hours or you will be disappointed. My family and I made the mistake of choosing this Zel's to dine at due to it being the only restaurant in that area that was not on a wait. We should have used that as an indicator but instead gave it a chance. We had a party of four plus an infant and were seated promptly in the back corner. We were served water and it took 15 minutes for our server to come by to even take our drink order. We wanted to order both food and beverage by the time he came to the table as we could sense that he was overwhelmed and the place was understaffed. Or server was not functioning well under stress and I sincerely felt bad for him, however sadly he was rude and dismissive and wanted to rush us by not answering our questions about the menu and instead walking away stating he could give us more time. I managed to place just 1/4 of our food order in before he abandoned us. Which led to only my food and not my kids coming out since it took him another 15 minutes to approach us again. I felt it would be selfish to eat without my kids having their food so my food was cold by the time theirs came. So I nice night out turned into a bad experience. We would have ordered desert but at this point it was obvious our server didn't want to deal with us so we just asked for the check (which was the only thing he did quickly) . Also , side note, there is no military discount.

Yvonne C.

Yelp
Came here before going to concert at a The Sound. The location was convenient and the reviews were good-that's why we chose it. Sorry to say we were really disappointed with the food, which was a shame because the server was nice. I ordered a Margherita Pizza and added chicken, my husband ordered the Del Mar Warm Chicken Salad and we also ordered a loaf of bread with butter. The pizza and bread were fine, nothing special. The salad however was awful! Bagged lettuce with a few cut up tomatoes and marinated onions and the driest chicken breast ever. We had to drown it in dressing to make it edible. Was hoping this could be our go to before a concert, but I doubt we'll ever come back.

Laura B.

Yelp
Really amazing to watch, Madi, a new bartender, be trained. Alyssa was so thorough and thoughtful and they were just wonderful Energy watching them together... They make really good drinks there and it was fun to hear how they are made. Zel's is very lucky to have such talented staff

Kimberly C.

Yelp
A great spot for brunch with a friend! The food is great and there's a nice patio seating if you bring your dog. Love the location as it's on the main strip of Del Mar with lots of walkable shops and restaurants closeby.

Kyrsten D.

Yelp
Best avocado toast I have ever had!! Also dog friendly patio is a huge plus. Cute coffee shop out front as well that offers lattes etc.

Madi S.

Yelp
The wait staff was very nice. The food wasn't great, and they had limited options. I like the outdoor seating. The scramble with fennel was an odd addition that I didn't enjoy, and I was bummed they didn't have any dairy free coffee creamer.

Martha W.

Yelp
Great happy hour Sunday through Thursday and open mic on Sunday afternoon and the performances were great . I had the calamari app for dinner. Afterwards my friend and I walked down to the beach and went for a swim. A great time was had by all. My friend Jamie King performed and all of them were great. I will be back.

Lori R.

Yelp
I ended up enjoying this place more than I thought! They had some good gluten free options, and the server was very nice working through specific questions for people with celiac. He was able to make sure I had a safe dinner to eat. The price point is a little high but it is Del Mar and right by the beach. Parking is......frustrating but that's not the fault of the restaurant. The decor is very nice and it's all sort of indoor but outdoor at the same time. Big glass walls that are open to the outside, nice patio seating with a fire pit. There were three kids in our group and they were accommodating and patient. The pacing of the meal was a little slow but we managed to wrangle the boys. They had a nice selection of kids items to eat. I had the cauliflower crust pizza with Italian sausage and pepperoni and it was tasty. I hated the Maracuya cocktail, it was waaaaay too smoky so I passed that to my husband. The Paloma was better. Nice dinner either way.

Katherine P.

Yelp
Ordered to go. Person at hosts desk spent more time visiting with others than watching food coming out of the kitchen. Order took twice as long to prepare as stated. Salad came with container of dressing only 1/4 full. Hamburger and fries had 12 fries; yes count them-10. Will not go back primarily over the attitude/service offered by host.

Leila E.

Yelp
Zels is a good, "we have no other options" place. After finishing a long run I stopped in here for a bite to eat. The food itself was fine, nothing special albeit the portion sizes were quite small. While I could handle subpar food because I was super hungry, the extremely slow service was quite unfortunate. After being seated and having ordered, it took around an hour for our food to come out. Seeing as the restaurant wasn't extremely packed I thought that was strange. Not only this, after asking to pay the bill we were made to wait another half hour. Finally we got annoyed and took our bill to the hostess after waiting for such a long time. With all things considered, I won't be coming back to Zel's. It's a skip for me.

Kirsten D.

Yelp
Great location, great staff, excellent service but the food was outrageously expensive and very lackluster. This place could be stellar but undercooked gnocchi that tasted like flour , overcooked sea bass, and the bread pudding had a great description but I could taste refrigerator on it. Actually. They comped the gnocchi and the dessert and the manager and server were awesome but the food is really pretty mediocre at best. I hope they get a new chef and a better menu and make this place fantastic. There's a lot of new competition in the neighbourhood and this spot could do much better

Bryan W.

Yelp
Great waitstaff! Great views! Decent menu and food. Good beer selection. We had a burger and a pizza.

Linda M.

Yelp
Great restaurant. Everyone there was very pleasant and kind, from the hostess to our waiter and servers. The employees were attentive, the food was amazing and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. I would visit this restaurant again. You need to make reservations as they get very busy.

Chip V.

Yelp
Zel's is a sold choice for intimate small group dining. A "go to" of mine to catch up with colleagues. The service and food are predictably well above average. Highly recommend!

Trang L.

Yelp
Came here with a couple of friends for happy hour on a Friday evening and it was a nice time. We sat at the patio near the fire so the ambiance was really chill. It's a cool little spot. Parking can be tough but it such a small neighborhood so it's expected. I ordered wine and they were pretty generous on the pour. As for bites, we ordered the calamari, prosciutto flat bread and their egg rolls. Calamari was chewy which was disappointing. Flat bread was tasty and the egg rolls were unique- bit pricey but it's a filet mignon egg roll. Overall it was a nice experience. I would actually rate this 3.5 stars but Yelp doesn't have that option for half stars. Looking for a chill happy hour spot? This is not a bad option especially if you sit out on the patio. Nice way to start your weekend.

J.C. M.

Yelp
Great happy hour in Del Mar, and the quality of food and value is high; I recommend the fish tacos. Ambiance is not as lively as what you may get closer to 15th Street, but they have live music. Bartenders are also very friendly and attentive.

Vl D.

Yelp
Judged as a CA coastal restaurant with somewhat elevated food, it comes up not bad at all, right alongside its neighbor on the same block, the Beeside Balcony. We have visited on Friday, last-moment reservations (by phone only!) were possible. The place is very good if this restaurant is treated as a place for appetizers and cocktails, many appetizers represent the (much) improved familiar finger food (I particularly liked the fish tacos in its "fried" incarnation). When ordering the main dishes, the kitchen hiccups become visible: long delays, uninspiring results. With main dishes, expect a $70 bill per person for a dinner with a drink (cocktails are in a $14-$18 range). Ambience is quite good considering the location (on the side of a major throughfare few small blocks away from the beach with no major view). The space is divided into three parts, all classic California coastal chic: true outdoor seating (with glass walls insulating from the wind and the hassle of the street), a large room with roof and glass walls somewhat away from Camino Del Mar (technically still outdoors, but does not feel like it), and a smaller room with the bar, music, and action. The lighting is creative (I would not divulge the details, explore on your own). Level of noise (excluding live music, see below) is just right - it is hard to overhear the other tables, but there is no need to strain one's voice talking to your (small) party. Tips: * street parking on the busy days is somewhat a challenge, try the opposite side of the Camino Del Mar (the one closer to the ocean) and side street s there; * for us, the live music was a nuisance, so I would suggest avoiding these times or at least seat far away from the musicians. Overall: good for an informal dinner with a small group of friends, casual date.

Yelp
Reluctantly have to say Zel's has not stood the test of time. I've eaten here many times and the overall food quality has proved to be pretty inconsistent. They've reduced their menu, often are out of dishes on the menu and sometimes close early if they don't have enough business despite their posted hours. Very unfortunate. They were off to such a great start. Hopefully they will recover.

Brittani W.

Yelp
If y'all are ever in San Diego go check out Zel's! The food was amazing!!! The owners and staff are so attentive and really care about everyone's experience at the restaurant!

Scott C.

Yelp
Service was a bit lackluster, but the food was good once we got it. I think they might be suffering from the same staffing issues as most restaurants.

Michelle Y.

Yelp
As always I was on the hunt for new brunch spots with bottomless mimosas, so we ended up taking a trip to Del Mar to check out Zel's. They only have maybe 5 parking spots in their parking lot so I would expect to have to street park. Most of which seems to be a 2 hour limit. And I did see a meter maid walking around on a mission so I wouldn't risk thinking you won't actually get a ticket. (I ended up moving my car mid brunch to one that opened in their lot to avoid getting a ticket) We originally sat under the covered section to the left of the host stand but the black covering made it feel like the heaters were on. We opted to move to the outdoor patio and get some of the breeze. Bottomless mimosas are $15 and go until 3. **The restaurant closes from 3-4 to switch to dinner.** The bottomless mimosas are made in a pitcher, so no room to have mimosas the way you like them, and have way too much OJ. I asked our server if we could get less OJ and she came back saying the batch was already made so sorry but it was a no go. I did see someone in the bar area who seemed to have a much better looking champagne/oj ratio so maybe you have more pull if sitting in the actual bar. Food was okay, nothing super exciting to write home. The breakfast sandwich and toasts are massive and the potatoes were probably the best thing we had. Server was gone for long periods at a time but overall service was good. Moral of the story: I'd probably go back if in the area and looking for something but not drive to Del Mar just for Zel's brunch. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Susie T.

Yelp
People joke I have a membership here I come so often. I love coming here with friends, or alone when I have long work days. The staff are knowledgeable, fun with hearts of gold. Burger is very popular, my favorite the lemon, Caesar salad . The bar has such a cool cosy vibe, the decor is beautiful.

Abby W.

Yelp
The good news is that the Ribeye Panini was an almost perfect sandwich. The truffle aioli sold the sandwich to me immediately and loved the white cheddar mixed with the chili rubbed ribeye that had a nice flavor and wasn't spicy at all despite the chili. I dislike onions so I omittrf the caramelized red onions from my sandwich. The only thing that would have made the sandwich better would have been if the meat was trimmed a little better. I had a few pieces of fat that I didn't care for and had to pick off the meat. The sandwich came with a side of fries (or a side salad, I think) and I was disappointed to learn that the restaurant doesn't carry ranch and could only offer ketchup or Chipotle for a dip. Not sure why the aioli that came on the sandwich couldn't be used as a dip because it would be a suitable ranch substitute. So what's the bad news, you may ask? I took half of my sandwich to go as it was large and too much for me to eat in one sitting. Unfortunately, it never made it home. I stopped by to check on a dog that I take care of and brought my sandwich inside and set it on the dining room table while I went in the backyard with the dog. While I was outside, the household cat hopped up on the table and stole all the meat from my sandwich! Sneaky cat!

Yelp
Beautiful place to dine and enjoy your meal. Music is great view is beautiful. Food was delicious. Love that I can come here and try something different every week. Great staff and chef. This will always be my spot to come eat and enjoy the view.

Caron M.

Yelp
I stopped in after walking around Del Mar for a snack and a beverage. They were only 10 minutes left before the kitchen closed, so I ordered their gluten-free brownie dessert. It was delicious, Rich and flavorful, and served with excellent vanilla ice cream and caramel. I also had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which would've been perfect on its own yet also managed to complement my dessert perfectly. The bathroom left something to be desired, as did the patio. But the food and drink was an excellent addition to my day.

Alex G.

Yelp
I invariable spring for a benedict whenever I'm out for brunch. My reasoning is that it's one of the few breakfast foods that I enjoy that I don't make for myself at home. This was no different - tried the crab cake benedict. It was... good. It wasn't spectacular, but it satisfied. One egg yolk was perfect and one was hard (overdone). Overall, the dish wasn't bad but I wouldn't order it again. The bottomless mimosas are worth it if you consume eat least two. I consumed four and found the intoxication roughly equivalent to two normal mimosas. They are a bit light on the alcohol in those, though it's somewhat to be expected. The Bloody Mary was particularly good. Kudos! I felt like the menu selection was relatively small with respect to other brunch spots around SD generally, but also better than most of the spots in the immediate vicinity. There is a coffee kiosk kind of paired up with them, so your caffeine requirements could be met without going into the restaurant. You can just swing by the cart on your way past! This isn't a bad option if you're in the area. I like the atmosphere and the location. Of the breakfast / brunch spots in the area, this is one of my favorites. Grading on a curve, it gets four stars in my book.

Yelp
Monday night grilled cheese and tomato soup was delicious. Ribs grilled done perfectly and delicious bison burger. The server was so nice and accommodating...

Elena N.

Yelp
Service is very good. Nice atmosphere, amazing live music. Food is bad... Salmon was bad taste, I never had so bad salmon.

Michael B.

Yelp
NOT BAD ! My wife and I had lunch here on a Sunday a while back .We were in the area on our Sunday bike ride and had just bought a couple of hot lattes at a coffee kiosk out the front. In the end we decided to try something at Zel's rather than where we had planned to dine further down the road in Solana Beach. A server Sarah looked after us and not long after Jose delivered a nice looking Prosciutto Flatbread Pizza to our table. We've never dined here before and I would have to admit it's a pleasant dining room space with an open airy feel plus an ocean view. Our flatbread pizza tasted good enough and we could see there were lots of other interesting items on the menu. I think this place is more of a night time destination because they put on live music in the bar area on some evenings.

Paul B.

Yelp
My review is unlikely to deter patrons since Zel's already has a following among Del Mar locals but hoping this will deter foodies. The menu here leaves a lot to be desired - very basic flat bread and burger fare. Perhaps they are able to offer good specials but tonight's swordfish wasn't anything to rave about. They were able to seat us outside without a reservation due to expansion onto the sidewalk and we snuck in just in the nick of time as the groups after us all had to wait. They were out of the wine AND the beer we ordered. Forgivable due to Covid but still would be best to announce in advance. The Diablo margarita I ordered was way to spicy and sweet at the same time almost to the point of not drinkable. The food was so so, the bison burger was fine but came with buns even after asking for no bun, the swordfish was probably the healthiest item (special) on the menu but came out just ok. The ahi tuna/crab stack appetizer was the highlight along with the plantain chips that came with it. Nothing impressed at all to stay for dessert. I suppose when they have music playing there may be some redeeming qualities bit otherwise you won't find us here again.

Yelp
Friends suggested to try out Zel's one Sunday for their brunch. Parking wasn't too bad that late Sunday morning. They do have a tiny parking lot with a few spaces. They have an outdoor covered patio. It was warm that day. I don't think there's a/c at all in the restaurant. The guys had already ordered coffee and toast while waiting for me. They claimed I brought them bad jiujius when I sat down as service got slow after I arrived. I think Zel's offers Zumbar's brewed coffee but not any specialty coffees. So I asked if I could just get up and order a specialty coffee from Zumbar, who has a new kiosk, right in front of the restaurant. The server said sure. The latte from Zumbar was the best part of the meal (already wrote a separate review for that). We tried: SIDE OF TOAST: - This toasted bread was deliciously crusty. The jam and butter was perfect with this toast. CHORIZO SCRAMBLE: - Both guys ordered the chorizo scramble. It comes with a side of two tortillas which they immediately knew wouldn't be enough. They both commented that the chorizo didn't taste like Spanish chorizo. The meat tasted off to them - not like real meat they said. They both said the order comes with too much roasted potatoes. They ended up paying more for extra tortillas. FRIED CHICKEN IN A BISCUIT: - They don't really let you modify orders here at Zel's Del Mar. I asked if I could do a salad instead of potatoes and they said no. Extra gravy would cost extra. I requested my eggs to be lightly scrambled but it looked like a dry omelette instead. The two pieces of white meat chicken were fried nicely and had a crunchy batter. The meat didn't taste too dry. I was surprised that we all enjoyed the biscuit the most. It was flaky and buttery. You could definitely taste the fresh chives that were incorporated into the biscuit batter. I think this is the normal portion of gravy that comes with the dish. Unfortunately, it came out cold with the order so we sent it back to have them warm it up. I think they forgot about it as we didn't get the gravy back until we reminded them much later. my blog has more detailed review and pics Service was slow. The restaurant was decently busy but maybe they didn't have a lot of staff. The manager though was nice. She was the one who brought back our gravy after we reminded her. I might come back to try another dish if I was in the area. But I would definitely return to get another latte from Zumbar.

Yelp
We walked up and down the street looking at menus for all the restaurants before coming back to Zel's, the first place we had looked. It lacks the view / proximity to the beach of the other restaurants but had the best menu. The breakfast quesadilla was a huge serving and incredibly filling, albeit a bit dry (I asked for Salsa on the side which definitely improved it). What blew me away though, is the donuts. Wow. I'd come back just for that. We almost didn't get dessert but I'm so glad we did. They are just perfect - the right size, the right sweetness, the right texture, paired perfectly with ice cream.. just get it. The only weird thing is that any coffee beyond "regular" coffee has to be ordered separately at the cart in front of the restaurant. I don't drink coffee so this was a non-issue for me, but it was a bit strange.

Desiree L.

Yelp
Gluten free pizza was yummy and vegan cheese added bonus. Gluten free brownies for dessert was delicious! Server was great, too! We'll be back.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE ZEL'S! I visited this restaurant for the first time after grabbing a drink at Jake's and wanting oysters (Jake's doesn't sell oysters so the bartender suggested we come here) and it did not disappoint! When I got here, it was happy hour so drinks and food were discounted. We ordered 6 oysters on the half, a few drinks, and since it was Monday, we *had* to get a grilled cheese sandwich (Mondays are grilled cheese day here, apparently.) We ordered the jalapeno popper grilled cheese (cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, and jalapeno) and it was unbelievably delicious! My friend ordered a jalapeno drink and you could tell it was made from fresh jalapenos, spicy and not pickled. The bartender doubled as our server along with all others that were dining and she never seemed overwhelmed, was extremely attentive, and nice. I would absolutely come back here again.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a drink / appetizer before heading to an art exhibit and I'm so glad we did! The server was friendly, lavender lemon drop was delicious and the calamari was perfectly fried. I couldn't believe how much calamari you get! Definitely would come back for dinner.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere at a restaurant that welcomes dogs, and excellent service immediately upon arrival by Guero. Friendly, helpful, and courteous. He's very knowledgeable about the menu which is definitely an added plus. Thank you! The food here tastes homemade. Not too greasy or oily. Everything is well created. All around wide-ranging, great flavors. (We needed more of what ever was under the sea bass and broccolini -- so good.) We had the bottom-shelf whiskey, ginger beer, egg rolls, bison burger, zel's burger, sea bass, and the beet and goat cheese salad. From these items, the bison burger is the must order. My father, a picky meat eater and one who doesn't spend money on food nor drives out of his way for food, said: "I'd drive back for this. Probably the best thing I've had. The waiters need to tell those who order a burger to order the bison instead."

Yelp
3.5 stars. Hopefully we will round up, not down with more visits. We hadn't been back here in at least a year. The happy hour is worth going to for price, quantity and taste. Some of the dinner entrees are hit or miss. The service was friendly and there was some live music certain nights.
