Ran into the store last night as my heartburn after the Thai dinner flared it up. The woman was really nice and offered me some options to consider. Bitters, aloe and DGL. The tried the herbal aloe drink and I felt better before I arrived home. No pushy sales person. Totally patient and a pleasure to work with. Will surely shop here again.

I went in here yesterday to get some relief from a severe ankle sprain and nerve damage. The woman was very nice and gave me products that worked pretty well. I think I'll be needing something a little stronger so I'll be back soon. Thanks!

They are so pleasant on the phone. Very nice people. Easy to order and have items ship to your house. My place to go for supplements. They even accommodate hard to obtain supplements.

Chow is amazing in knowing so much about different healthy ways to take care of yourself. She knows what to give me when I'm not feeling as well other issues. I was having major pain in my legs where I couldn't walk for long periods of time (which is not good living in NYC). I had tried everything including PT and Advil. While helped a little, but nothing was taking away the excruciating pain I would feel after walking about 20 blocks. I planned a trip to Greece this last summer and was super worried about how my legs would hold up. So, I went to see Chow and asked her to help me. She recommended a natural supplement for every day use and then another supplement if the pain became excruciating while I was there. To my amazement, both were the life saver that I needed to have the perfect time in Greece. No pain in my legs, but maybe once or twice when we had walked extensively. And now I can't believe it, but I'm completely pain free. If you're suffering from any ailment, I highly recommend you see Chow, she's so knowledgeable and will give you her best recommendation to help you.

Zen Medica - which is pretty much Chow - is one of those gems of New York City. A mid size shop on 72nd Street, Zen has every kind of supplement you could want or need, from western-style supplements (think vitamin D etc) to Eastern-style herbs for everything from menopause to muscle aches. Chow is incredibly knowledgeable about all forms of medicine and gives great advice and recommendations. Chow is a lovely person and it's always a treat receive a greeting from her ever-ubiquitous mom who sits stoically up front. Truly a wonderful NYC mom and pop store.

The owner is very knowledgeable and gives great advice and recommendations based on your needs. She is also helpful - if she's out of stock and you need something and calls you when it comes in.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The owner and manager was beyond rude to me and my friend. We were spending over $70 on VITAMINS. I expressed concern about one of the products she suggested. It contained garlic and I said I didn't want to smell like garlic. Her response was, "HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF CHEWING GUM???" She told us she had an appointment that was more important than helping us. She told us to quickly get our products because she was no longer going to be available to help. She also said there would be no one else available to help us, so we had to check out immediately or else we would not be able to purchase anything. This was at 6:10PM and her store closes at 8PM. I came back and wanted to return one of the items. The garlic one. (Mentioned above). She refused to return it because she couldn't sell it to someone else. She also refused to give store credit or accommodate me in any other way. I said I felt like she was very rude to us. She said she was too busy to talk about it and walked off. She raised her voice and said the person on the phone was more important than helping us. She said it was an emergency. Which was confusing because she had previously said she had a SCHEDULED appointment. I have spent HUNDREDS of dollars here over the last few years. I will never ever return and I will never ever recommend someone shop here again. I will also make sure everyone I talk to knows to never come here. Horrible attitude. Horrible customer service. Horrible experience. No point in paying higher prices when I can just order the same stuff online.

Always a pleasure to shop here! I always leave with new health goodies to try. And everyone I've met at the store has been super helpful and knowledgeable about wellness. I highly recommend picking up a couple pouches of their custom Chinese herb blends, especially the ones to make soups. Zen has an amazing selection to the point where I try to remind myself to stop in before checking Amazon.

Chow treats each and every customer as if they were a family member. When I pulled my back out, Chow recommended a regimen for me that worked within days! I've known Chowie Mok for years. She is not only knowledgeable but also cares about every single person that she meets. She will save you money and help you with your situation. I love her Zen Medica herbal line, and I bought my girlfriend a Zen Medica essential oil and she loved it. I saw a negative review on here, and it's what caused me to want to respond. All of her products are GMP which means that the FDA has regulated them. There is no such things an FDA approved supplement.

I'm perplexed about the reviews regarding customer service....my experience here has been nothing but 5 star each time. I usually interact with Chow who has a vast knowledge of Chinese & Rx medication. Which is very helpful when trying to find alternatives. I've also had a consultation with her and follow up visits regarding health concerns. She's amazing!!!! Her explanation and treatment suggestions make sense, and have worked for me. From shingles related issues to a persistent cough last summer. I've already referred friends & family. It's my go to when my system if if balance.

Great little health store with a wide variety of supplements, including Standard Process brand, which is difficult to find. I get all of my supplement needs met here, and travel across town to go there! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable as well.

It is utterly sad how poor the customer service is here. I am usually not one to write bad reviews but this place has really left a bad taste in my mouth. I came because of the high ratings but was disappointed with how I was treated by the so called "nurse" or aka owner. I was told my illness was something I made up. When I asked about what proper vitamins I could take, I was brushed off and without being given a through explanation. When I asked questions she looked confused and got an attitude as if I should know about HER stores products. I was in the store a few hours before closing and she kept insisting that if I'm not going to buy anything, then I should hurry. When I said I wanted to make the right decision before leaving( as would anyone would) she rolled her eyes and muttered something under her breath. I felt completely un-welcomed and misinformed. Not explaining things to customers before purchasing can lead to a future law suit if anything were to go wrong. As a courtesy and good service I would advise staff at this place to explain things to customers before buying.

I finally stopped into this store for the first time yesterday evening~ I was with my BF who needed some Vitamin D and I suggested that we try this place instead of Fairway or the usual suspects. Upon entering, we were asked by the owner Chow if we needed any help. We chose to look around first and when we finally took her up on her offer, we were pleasantly surprised by her extensive knowledge and information re. not only what we were asking for, but also how it would compliment or work with what we were already taking. I left with an "Advil substitute" for chronic arthritis pain (which I think worked, by the way... and so much better for my system than over the counter stuff!), and a suggestion to take my pre-existing CBS oil just before bedtime, since I have been having major sleep issues. Worked like a charm and I have slept through the night for the past two nights... heaven!!) I love the fact that this is a small Mom and Pop business and will purchase all of my vitamins and supplements and herbal tinctures here from now on. What a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I really don't get these negative reviews... I found Chow to be helpful, generous with her time, funny, and a little off beat, which I like. Perhaps some others might misinterpret this for being curt- I did not feel that at all. I think she's lovely and is the reason I will be back.

I had another terrific visit with Chow! She literally saved my life from a gruesome parasite infection which I also used antibiotic ( that worked in the short term) to treat. It was Chow and her staff that got me on the right regimen so that I could clear out all of the critters some dead some alive who were still trapped and making me look bloated. Also, they understand the growing (no pun intended) issue due to people eating lots of organic food and sushi in the U.S. Because of the nature of this and my travel schedule, I need to be on a six month maintenance plan. I came to her with a kidney problem as well. My mother had, had gallbladder surgery so I am also genetically predisposed to that. Chow and I came up with a plan to pass both the tiny kidney stones and gallstones. ALL with out having to go under the knife. It is working and I feel a million zillion times better. Thank you for helping me with solutions. ALL CLEAR NOW:-) I can't say enough great things about this woman and her staff. They are easy, to work with and well organized.

I met with Chow as she was recommended by someone. I scheduled a full consultation, which took 90 minutes. I wanted to get herbs to help with fertility. I filled out a bunch of paperwork and also brought my blood work results from past blood tests. Chow customized a regimen for me and it was such a pleasure to work with her. She's smart, kind and so knowledgeable. The prices are fair and she does not sell you things that you do not need. She explained everything in full detail and gave me a great cheat sheet with directions on how/when to take all the herbs. I'm very grateful for going to Zen Medica!
