Update November 2024: Warning for Building 5!!!
We have had a persistent German Roach infestation for at least the past 6 months. It's been awful, and it has been sprayed for, fumigated, etc. For so many of the units for MONTHS. The unit that the problem came from 5112 has been dealt with apparently as they no longer live there, and it is back on the market after getting torn apart to remodel and fumigated constantly for MONTHS. We have personally been getting sprays every 3 weeks or more for HALF A YEAR and have done a full fumigation 2x. The problem is that they move from unit to unit.
I'm so tired of being uncomfortable in my own home. And for the rent you pay to live here, it's crazy I'm living like this. Here's our life:
I can barely stand to be in the kitchen anymore, we mostly eat out because of enough jump-scares over the past half-year. We do a nightly roach-check in our bed before going to sleep (because we have found them there), I have accidentally smashed multiple dishes on the floor from them crawling over me DURING dinner and freaking out massively, we've stopped hosting friends and family (which we used to love in this perfect location for it), and I wake up to text messages every morning from my husband reporting new roaches he smashed or vice versa so we can keep track.
They used to tell me it was just me, which honestly really messed with my head because I'm super clean. No shoes inside, garbage out every night, counters disinfected every morning and night, outside-clothes are changed out of when I come inside, dishes done immediately etc. But all the other neighbors have issues too and we all keep each other updated now.
When we get a fumigation, my husband and I each use a day of PTO, pay $60 to get the dog watched while we have to be out, and spend the night before and after doing work for it. Moving appliances, washing down all the surfaces, vacuuming behind the appliances, removing everything from the kitchen etc. They say it's not a big deal, but if you actually follow the list of instructions they give you, it's a lot of effort.
I honestly don't know what else they can do, but we are still finding all life-cyles alive and well here. I'm seriously losing hope. We used to really love it here. See my old review below. It brought me to tears to remember how much I used to love my home.
Old review shortly after we moved in January 2022:
Pro's:
- AMAZING location. You're close to all of the Disney parks, and all of the touristy stuff without being in the middle of it. Definitely feels like a little oasis.
- Beautiful apartments. They definitely feel like luxury with double vanities, a tub and a shower in the bathroom, and walk-in-closets.
- The amenities are awesome, and don't comare to anything else we could find in this area (for some reason other places it's hard to even find a hot tub). Here you have a pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna as well as onsite massage therapist and esthetician.
- There are food trucks all the time and monthly events. Definitely a plus to walk outside and have fun convenient food options.
- Our place is on the 3rd floor, and we have a view facing the lake. We get to watch ospreys, eagles, and herons relax and feed all day from the patio. The patio is GIANT. It's an entire outdoor living space.
Cons:
- Thin floors. If you have this issue, just let your neighbor know. We did and that fixed it.
- People have reactive dogs and leave them out/give them free access to the patio. Building 1 is basically a dog kennel, but it's everywhere. Lots of people don't pick up poop either. So watch out.
- Amenities/doors/elevators are broken fairly often, and unfortunately maintenance can't fix a lot of it because it's all 3rd party vendors that take forever to order parts or come out. The fire pit usually doesn't work, the hot tub is off and on (jets too), the sauna has been good recently but has to manually be reset after the power goes out, so if there is a storm, you'll go all weekend without it.
Overall, 4 stars. We like it and feel lucky to be here.
