I moved into a beautiful, pergola apartment a year ago right when COVID-19 began. I'd like to preface this review with the fact that throughout my 1-year lease, I've seen and reported many problems. A majority of the time, the complaint or problem goes unnoticed and the staff makes little to no effort on fixing said problems. Below is my experience, and I know for fact that these issues are resonated with prior residents who have since moved out:
(1) Throughout this lease, I've seen three different community managers come and go each with their own office staff. The new management does NOT care about the residents and treat you like a number to fill their quota/occupancy rate. In the past two months, it appears more people have moved out than moved in.
(2) The fire pit located in the pool area has been broken for over 6 months- I haven't even bothered checking or asking about if they have fixed it again. Each time I have asked, I got the runaround and even lied to that it was fixed.
(4) The grills are over a year old and have had ignition issues since I've moved in. The second community manager replaced the ignition line for one of the grills. Trying to fix the problem, we appreciated this manager for doing so as it felt like we were listened to and action was taken. Still, to date, the grills are a pain in the ass to light and they don't heat evenly.
(5) The gym has a major water leak and molded carpet in the corner. There has been no attempt to solve this problem. Maintenance goes in each morning around 7am to clean and change out trash. The area hasn't even been cordoned off and the problem has been ignored for a while now.
(6) The dog park has been in bad shape since move-in. It was infested with bugs (can't help that/ it's florida) but the worst part is the lack of grass. The park is, realistically, only dirt. The new management team just put in shredded bark throughout the entire park rather than actual landscaping. Dogs cannot run in this mulch and play fetch? They slip and slide everywhere and who knows if it hurts them as well.
(7) The internet inside the units is non-negotiable at a rate of $115 each month with Spectrum 100/100 mbps. It is a combination of cable, tv, and internet. The internet does not work reliably. I repeat, the internet is GARBAGE (I'm a tech guy). I had FOUR technicians out to my apartment within a span of two months. Nobody could fix the problem. I complained to the community manager and asked for assistance or for some form of resolution. I asked to be credited for these two months as I couldn't stream reliably or have stable internet. The new manager gave me a runaround and told me she's working on it. This was two months ago and I still haven't heard back. The problem is that the complex, when building the last building (#5), hit the main Spectrum fiber line for the entire road. Since this, problems have echoed throughout each building. There has been no acknowledgment to the community, besides one time when management announced Spectrum will be doing some maintenance.
(8) The clubhouse has been completely closed since the beginning of the pandemic. Other properties in the area, that even have worse clubhouses/amenities, have remained open. We haven't been able to use the clubhouse once. I don't understand why this property has the clubhouse remained closed. Social distancing and proper sanitation throughout is the simplest solution that would make residents feel more valued.
(9) Parking is a nightmare at night at certain buildings. I often have to park my car in the front of the community in "future residents only" parking. The only overflow parking is on two opposite ends of the community, both of which are far walks to my building.
(10) Valet trash is unspeakable. Trash is missed often (not because of us putting out wrong trash or something we do), but the valet service misses units frequently. I have complained before, and management told me to leave my trash in the hallway until the next day trash service comes. We should have been refunded for the month.
I've thought about this review and whether it was appropriate to share the information that I shared and I came to the conclusion that it was. I want to paint the most accurate depiction of the complex for young residents (such as myself) and those older. I've always taken reviews with a grain of salt, such that if I saw someone complaining, I'd say: "Oh, well they could've done this and this.." I tried everything for all of my complaints.
