Angel Joy really is an angel of joy! I booked a massage same day, and she made the entire experience amazing. From the moment I walked in and getting slippers and a robe, getting to be in the infrared sauna to get warmed up, being served tea & a French pastry—the entire experience even before the massage started was fabulous. And then the massage itself was even more fabulous. Angel Joy really has a way of listening to what your body needs and working with her intuition in a way that is unparalleled. I appreciated her energy, her vibrancy, and her love for this work. I had such a great night of sleep post visiting the spa & I woke up today feeling grounded and energized. I’ll be back! 💛

This was such an amazing experience! My husband and I came to Highlands for our anniversary. We did the romance package and it was such a relaxing and healing experience. Angel Joy is very talented, the Spa was closed for our session. We had full access to all amenities. Fresh fruit and beverages were available throughout the area. Her training and experience was unprecedented, she tailored our massages to fit our physical and emotional needs. The different pools were truly authentic Japanese pools. I highly recommend this spa for anyone who needs to disconnect, relax, and reset.

My husband and I did some research before booking with Angel and were very impressed with the biography we found about her. We decided to book couples spa day. From the moment we came through the door we were impressed with her hospitality, professionalism and knowledge. Massages were amazing and relaxing. Steam room, sauna, soaking tubs were the added bonus and every station was designed to relax, unwind and help you take the stress away. Attention to detail was mind blowing. After our couples retreat I decided to return for a facial even though I just had a facial done at the high end spa near by which was nothing compared to Angles. Her name suits her well. We felt like we really met the Angel and we are already planning our next trip. Every town needs something like this and I certainly hope she expands her business and comes to Charlotte

Angel Joy is truly a joy!!! She is very knowledgeable and experienced at whatever treatment you choose!!! I had the body scrub its a must do !!! The whole experience was FABULOUS!!!! goin back for a facial next week!! So was she!!! Update after facial. YOU MUST GO FOR A FACIAL !!!!!! SO relaxing and enjoyable!! My face was glowing!! All natural ingredients were used. Love that!!! My hands and feet were pampered too!!

ANGEL JOY is aptly named! What a lovely experience to feel so taken care of and important. I have been having some physical discomfort and she performed a lymphatic massage that provided more relief than I ever imagined it could! She is skilled, intelligent, a master at her art, genuinely kind and a spiritually evolved person. I felt honored to share her space for an hour. I will definitely visit this Angel again!

I have only had one other massage in my life, so I have no real basis for comparison, but my experience with Angel Joy was nothing but wonderful. The spa is beautiful and extremely peaceful. The amount of attention Angel Joy pays to detail is obvious from the moment you walk in. She was attentive to my questions and put me at ease immediately. She explained everything, and is so knowledgeable about her craft. I felt so comfortable and cared for! It is clear to me that Angel Joy is dedicated to her work and her clients, and I would recommend the experience.

This was the best paid for experience we have ever had. I was more relaxed than I had been in 10 years. I work a demanding job and it was perfect for me. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon and for her it was more than just a physically relaxing experience, but a healing one. Angel is so considerate and clearly knows what she is doing, the spa is so beautifully laid out and she clearly pays attention to every detail of your needs and the environment. We did the 2 and a half hour couples experience with the massage and all the spa amenities and it was worth every single penny, she went above and beyond and did more than we were paying for. She has a gift at healing people and is very attentive to peoples individual needs, is very experienced and passionate about what she does. We would love to go back if we are ever given the opportunity. Thank you Angel!

This place is a diamond in the mountains. Zen Spa is the perfect little retreat. The host.spends a lot of time getting everything just right for your amazing experience. From the special drinks to the Japanese copper tub soak, my husband and I were truly blown away! Everything is spotless. Her towels smell amazing! Love you Angel Joy!

Angel curated the most relaxing and romantic experience for my husband and I. Every detail was thoughtfully executed. We started our experience in a gorgeous copper tub with a milk bath. Then explored a circuit of various treatments designed to relax and renew. Starting with steam, hot/cold plunge, infrared dry sauna then ending with traditional Japanese soaking tub. Angel was an absolute wonderful host and even sang me happy birthday at the end. I couldn't recommend Angel and her services high enough. Do not miss this couples experience in Highlands, NC!

Before going into details, I want to say to anyone considering making an appointment at Zen Spa: BUYER BEWARE! As soon as you make your appointment, if you give your credit card number (or if it happens to be on file from a previous visit), you will be CHARGED IN FULL for the service you have yet to receive, and you will not get ANY of your money back if you cancel, even if you cancel well ahead of the 24 hour cancellation policy. You will be given only a gift certificate with extremely limited terms (which, incidentally, appear to be illegal under federal law). I have been to more spas in my life than I can count and never have I faced such a ridiculous policy and such a creepy, unyielding owner. I made appointments for me and my family members; we all expected to be on vacation together in Highlands in the coming week. The very next morning I came down with Covid. I called immediately to cancel the appointments, but the owner told me it was too late to cancel, even though the first appointment was still two days away (the others were three and four days away) and had been on her books for less than 18 hours! Indeed, my card had already been charged. I now hold gift certificates that I will never be able to use because they expire in three months and I live hundreds of miles away. There are so many things I could say. I had actually been to Zen Spa once before and had enjoyed the experience (though it was odd in a number of respects that I won't go into here. Things she said then and said in my more recent experience just don't add up.) You may or may not enjoy your visit to Zen Spa, but be warned, the owner is not an honest broker.

I'm a part-timer in Highlands and tried Zen Spa after a long day of travel culminating in a painful shoulder knot. I'm so glad I did! Now, booking a massage here to reset is one of the first things I do when I get to town. I tend to have a tight neck and shoulders and have found that massage really helps when I'm out of sorts. I average about one appointment per month, so have experienced a lot of different styles and practitioners. All that to say, this is one of the top, perhaps, the top massage I've ever had. To top of it off, the custom oils/aromatherapy are out of this world. 2 thumbs up!

My daughter & I had the herbal ball massage treatment. Angel Joy gave us both a wonderful massage that worked out all my aches & pains. I was bothered by hip, knee & shoulder pain. I walked out of there pain-free. Highly recommend Zen Spa & will go back to try her Japanese facial.

One of the best massages I have ever had in my life and I have had hundreds. Sharon knows her anatomy better than I do, and I'm an ER doctor. She is very kind, mellow and calming. She took time to connect with me and was able to find the exact muscles where I carried my stress - and focus on them but at the same time tend to other areas. She utilized reflexology on my feet which made me feel like I was walking on clouds. I refused to get off the table, but I kind of had to because my wife was next. Next time will be doing more than 60 minutes! May have to drive here from atlanta just for the massage.

Zen Spa is Incredible. It is very difficult to find an excellent therapeutic massage therapist. Angel's ability to connect with the patient, heal the body, and listen to the patients needs is phenomenal. After the massage I felt completely renewed and full of energy. Also scheduling On-Line was a breeze. Thank You Angel.

I have never experienced a massage like this! From the moment you enter this tranquil spa, you become relaxed. Angel's energy is so kind, gentle, positive. Her touch is as firm as you request and she is able to massage away weeks of stress from your neck, back, feet. I am counting the days till I come back to Highlands so I can again treat myself to her healing hands!

This was the best massage I ever had! I have been to other spas in the Highlands and stopped by Zen Spa on a whim based on some of the other reviews. I was not disappointed. I had a baby 6 months ago and didn't know how much I needed a massage until I went to Zen Spa. The Thai Ball massage was AMAZING!!! I feel like a new person and will definitely be back any time I am in town.

Terrible. If you want to pay $160 to have your fingers, toes and leg pulled, this is your place. Personally if I wanted stretching I would go to a yoga class or do it myself. What little time was left in the hour was spent finding muscle knots and just applying static pressure- which can be effective, but not when so little time is spent on each knot. If you think a massage should involve some rubbing action, don't blink or you will miss it. For $160 I would typically get 2 hours of massage for a fly-by-night retail location. This is NOT a Ritz-Carlton quality spa for sure.

Angel Joy is a miracle worker! I can now walk again after suffering from Plantar Fasciitis for months and feel amazing. She is so knowledgeable & professional in every method of massage and the spa is serene & lovely. This is the best gift you can give yourself!

I was just harassed for 30 minutes by text messages from Zen Spa in Highlands, NC. They accused me of making an appointment and not showing for it. The owner of Zen Spa is Angel, however the person who sent me the texts and also who called the Highlands Inn and got nasty with the front desk person will not identify themselves. I did not make any appointments with Zen Spa and I never will. They have a poor attitude. Sincerely, Linda Crabtree
