It’s Thanksgiving Day and I stopped by for coffee. Zendo makes the best coffee. With that said, I’m kinda fed up with this place after many years of repeated visits. Today I waited 30 minutes for my coffee, which is unusual. Yes it was busy but frankly it’s always busy. While I waited I witnessed all three baristas do shots of whiskey behind the counter and they didn’t even attempt to be low key about it. Not cool. The music these kids play, while I find much of it enjoyable, it’s just not the appropriate setting. It’s loud and hyphy and I feel like I’m about to do ten lines of coke. In previous visits they’ve played Kendrick Lamar. I do love me some Kendrick Lamar but again not the appropriate setting. It’s vulgar and people are coming here with their kids. It would be nice if they created a more chill vibe with mellow music. On top of that, the staff are rude. It’s like “I’m too cool” to smile or say thank you and you’re welcome etc. If I thank the barista for my coffee, the proper thing to do is say you’re welcome with a smile instead of silence or a grunt. On top of all that, it’s a total hassle to even find parking. Not worth it. I’m swearing off this place for good. I do think the lady who owns this place is a really nice woman and has a really nice spot. I love the plants and the beautiful tables she put in there and the artwork is cool too as well as the back patio. And the baristas are well trained in how to make good drinks. I hope she will find some mature adults who can handle professionalism but that’s a stretch.
