Held an event for my girlfriends 30th birthday and it was okay. We booked the space ahead of time since her birthday was on a Saturday, but it was not busy at all. Honestly, we probably would have been fine just showing up without an event designation. The food and drinks were fantastic, but the event planning itself left some to be desired.
This is especially considering that it seemed there wasn’t much given to us for reserving the space, we had planned for 20-25 people but the room we had allowed for maybe 10 people seating. There was a food and beverage minimum but we couldn’t have people pay separately, they had to have their items added to our group bill and I had people send me money for what they bought after the fact.
Our coordinator mentioned that there wasn’t any outside food and beverage allowed during our initial conversation, but there was nothing in writing. We ended up bringing cakes because I had forgot this and she mentioned it would be $5/person attending. Which I do get and she did mention before hand, but you would think this would have been sent with additional information through an email but there was a lack of follow up communications.
Overall, we felt like our party was kind of treated like an afterthought. Our event manager didn’t even tell the birthday girl happy birthday, which is a small deal but still something you would think is simple to make someone spending $1,000 feel a little special. It was fun but probably won’t be back for an event.
