Humans are odd creatures. We come to the mountains for snow and unforgiving climates, then seek out somewhere cozy and warm. Yet, it is one of the biggest pleasures and this establishment knows how to cater to it. It is, summed up simply, one of the coziest places on earth.
Upon walking in, it feels like a comfortable lodge from an era that has long escaped us. It feels like a festive room in Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. Put simply, it just does not feel real. Woody yet elegant, it does not look like a tasteless place either in terms of design. As a matter of fact, quite the opposite.
Unsurprisingly, the meal does match to the place rather well. The lamb sausage is simply spectacular, served with traditional Swiss potato cakes and some mustard. It's not a dish to be admired, but rather destroyed quickly. The sausage is so flavorful that there is even a sense of guilt that may appear while dipping it into the mustard. A separate course consisted of their ravioli stuffed with winter vegetables and nuts, also not deviating far from its environment.
When all of the above is finished with a bottle of Swiss wine from Valais, it truly becomes a meal to remember. Kind people, making spectacular food, in a very cozy, beautiful place.
