"Paradeplatz's Iconic Beer Hall Sure, the menu comes in a dozen languages, but Zeughauskeller is no mere tourist trap. Occupying a 15th century building on Paradeplatz, the setting—arched windows, wooden ceiling beams and stone columns—is transportive, while traditional dishes include the Bürgermeister Schwert (veal steaks pounded thin and wrapped around a long sword blade and grilled). The house beer is an exclusive from the local TurbinenBräu brewery."

Google
A very good restaurant. We were here on a weekday, didn't book anything, we were offered a table right away, without waiting. The food was delicious, there were many dishes on the menu, for every taste. The service was professional and fast. The prices were not so low, but this is Switzerland, everything is expensive here )) A good medium-sized dish will cost 20-30 francs.

The food, the atmosphere, the building, the service, and the staff, everything was fantastic! We had such a great experience there. The food was fresh and delicious, served in pots with candles underneath to keep it warm — such a thoughtful touch! The portions were generous, and every dish felt made with care. They have one of the best beer also!

Google
It is a very popular restaurant in Zurich and it is recommended to book a table to shorten the waiting time. The food is delicious and the house beer is a must-try. The staff there must love their job very much as they were really happy and energetic even the restaurant was super busy.

Google
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. But there were so many smokers that it was hard to eat outside. 🚨Please check your change when paying with cash. 🚨I never tipped, so I thought it was a mistake in the calculation, so I asked, and she gave me ALL my change in 10 rappens(sfr0,1🪙), which really pissed me off. I felt she probably thought we were tourists, so she did that on purpose.

Waited approximately for 15 minutes to be seated in the outdoor areas which will be closed at 10pm. English menu is available with descriptions. Prices are generally quite expensive but perhaps it is just normal prices in Zurich. I would not say the food was particularly good or amazing. The smoked sausage was quite dry; the fries were obviously not freshly fried and the buttered rice could be a little bit undercooked to some people. Yet the special curry-garlic sauce was surprisingly good and it made the whole thing just so much better.

The service staff were excellent and efficient. They were also friendly and made suggestions. The food was excellent. Just make sure to arrive early as the place gets packed very quickly especially if you do not have reservations. My favorite was definitely the veal in cream sauce with rosti. The sausage was delicious especially with mustard (chef's kiss). I highly recommend to try a dine at Zeughauskeller on your Zurich trip. Just be early, preferably before it opens.

The food and service here are really good. I’ve been here once before and it’s been packed. Today was busy but not packed so was seated immediately. Many different beer options, the Swiss German food is amazing and this place is truly a Zürich gem!

Google
Easily the most famous Swiss Beer Hall in Zürich. Very similar to the traditional beer hall in Germany in that there are shared tables, traditional comfort food, quick service, and lots of great beer. We made reservations for our 7:30 dinner which I would recommend because the line for walk-ins was very long when we arrived. Inside is very large, it can host many different sized groups, you can easily find a group of a dozen or more at a table, but we were just a party of two and were sat at a table for 4 with another couple so there is a bit of awkwardness there, but it is nice to sit near other travelers. That is if they are in a talking mood or speak the same language. Our waiter was extremely polite and very helpful with the selections and pricing is also very fair. To drink we had the house lager and it was very good. For our meal, we chose the Sausage Combo Plate and the Wienerschnitzel and honestly both were great. The Wienerschnitzel was especially tender and very large and I was able to eat every bite of it because it was that good. The sausages were also very crisp and tasty and we honestly really enjoyed our meal. It is true that this place is very touristy, but it is also very authentic, traditional Swiss food, but reminds me of Germany most of all and is very similar to the beer halls that we visited in Munich. I would definitely recommend to any traveler to try this place at least once while in town.

Yelp
This place looks like it would be touristy but it was awesome! We enjoyed it so much! It is decorated like an old German armory and even has some weapons from back in the day as decor! We sat next to this beautiful wooden clock, great atmosphere. Our server was very friendly. I knew I had to try the German potato salad. My friend had veal sausage and I had a pork shank. Both were phenomenal but the show stopper is the potato salad! Soft potatoes in a creamy mustard sauce. Wow! Beer looked so good but we don't really drink! Definitely recommend coming here if you're in Zurich don't miss this spot!

Yelp
This is a large touristy beer hall/restaurant with lots of typical Swiss specialties. My husband enjoyed Wurst and Rostock while I had a grilled chicken salad. It also features a lot of old firearms which a gun collector might enjoy seeing. Our server was from Croatia and very friendly. Great English. They take reservations which I'd recommend doing in advance as it was very crowded at 7 pm on a Thursday evening.
google avatar

Yelp
A popular beer hall with a lively environment. Make a reservation if you can and be prepared to possibly share a large dining hall style table with another group! Apparently, the building used to be an armory, so there's some interesting decor scattered around. You can read a brief blurb about the history of the building on the placemat at your table. There's even a dish that comes served on a sword that the table next to us ordered, and it was fun seeing the presentation! Good selection of beers and various dishes. Large serving sizes so be prepared to be stuffed! Overall, a fun spot to have some good comfort food.
google avatar

Yelp
A classic Zurich establishment that is worth a visit just to soak up the history. The beer was excellent and very cheap, potato salad was amazing, but Sausage was rather average. Interesting mustard dispenser. Beware kitchen closes 10pm!
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Very, very good food and the beer matches the food ranking! Know this place will be crowded when you get there and you will sharing a table w some others. Also know this will be one of your all time best meals while in Zurich. Wife had the brat and potato salad and I had the sausage and potato salad. Probably the best meal I have had in some time. Servers were attentive and timely. FYI the onion sauce is the "secret sauce". Get it on a meal of you can! Enjoy!

Yelp
Zeughauskeller has popped up as a well-known restaurant in Zurich that serves traditional dishes. I do wonder if there's generally more tourists than locals but even if you don't like the food, this is a great place to just come and drink beers too. Because of the popularity, you absolutely should make a reservation ahead of time. When we arrived, we were told by the host to line up with everyone behind a yellow line. It didn't matter if you had reservations or not, she was going to come down the line and figure it out. They definitely strive for efficiency here and will seat you with strangers to maximize space. Also, if you don't know what you want, they might come off a bit rude just to hurry you up. So if you get stressed in those situations, come prepared and know what you want to order! We were given English menus and our waitress also spoke English. We first ordered a pitcher of beer (so cheap!) to give us some time to figure out what to eat. Like most Switzerland dining establishments, the prices here are kind of steep but they do give a lot of food so I would recommend sharing meals and appetizers. It seems like it's kind of frowned upon to order less dishes than there are people so I would just get a small appetizer if you're trying to share one meal between two people. I ordered the Kalbsgeschnetzeltes nach Zürcher Art, which is pan-fried, sliced veal in a creamy mushroom white-wine sauce. It also comes with rösti, which is a traditional side dish, very similar to hash browns but thicker. Don't let the picture fool you because it looks like the serving size is pretty small. But she actually gave me a metal pot that with more veal so I guess it's to keep it warm as you slowly eat. The veal itself wasn't as tender as I'd like it to be but so good with the mushroom sauce. The rösti was crispy and tasted even better with the mushroom sauce. Our table also ordered the Zeughauskeller Kanonenputzer, which was a pan-fried sausage with onion sauce. We ordered the 1/2 meter, or 500 grams, which is good for 2 people or just good to share with the whole group. The sausage was a little dry but not in a bad way. Very flavorful and I think I liked it more than my veal. Overall, great meal, cheap beer, and we left pretty satisfied. I feel like we barely scratched the surface of Swiss cuisine and their menu is big enough where you can order different things each time. I would love to come back and try more!

Yelp
Great place to try traditional German dishes. The restaurant has great decor and service. The meat is slightly dry for my liking. But it's how Swiss people Ike their food: on the dry side. We enjoyed the presentation of the mayor's sword: steak on sword. The beef steak is on an actual sword and served on it. We had a wonderful meal. The kids enjoyed their juices because they were on beer mugs. So they took lots of pictures with it. I liked how the Mayor's sword came with salad, Rosti or French fries, and mustard. The steak went very well with the mustard.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
Great spot to try out traditional dishes, but be warned that it's a very popular spot and making a reservation will greatly help you and your schedule! You'll most likely be sharing your table with other customers, as they're just trying to pack in as many people as possible, in whatever configuration works! Really cool interior, as the building used to be an armory. There's some leftover artifacts that you can see as you dine. My fiance and I decided to share the Mayor's Sword as it said 'serves 2', but I think you could split this amongst 3 or 4 people! The steak comes on an actual sword, and once they bring it to the table, they cut it off the sword in front of you. Really neat presentation! The Mayor's Sword also included Rosti, a big bowl of Greens Salad, and Potato Salad. We had so much leftover! We also tried their half meter sausage, and that was delicious as well! Great spot to enjoy a variety of dishes!

Yelp
I first came here in 2007, and I am so glad it still remains. An amazing restaurant in a beautiful location. We had to vacate our table by 1830, and I was a little concerned due to slower service - not to worry - we ate and still were out before the reservation for the table arrived. And the food!!!! Even after all this time, it is still utterly delicious. I had the Swiss veal with mushrooms and rosti, and my husband had the sausage. We started with butter lettuce salads, and those are a bit expensive at 8 CHF for lettuce and salad dressing. The mains were priced competitively. Plenty of beer and wine to choose from, as well. The meal was superb, and I look forward to visiting again when it is not a busy Saturday night.

Yelp
Yea, kind of tourist destination but it was such a nice experience. I made a reservation (strongly suggest making a reservation) for 6 PM and was promptly seated when we arrived. Most tables are group seating so you most likely will be seated with an other party but it makes for a lively conversation as you wait for your food (and not to long of a wait). It is a lively atmosphere in what seems to be an old armory. Wait staff spoke english and was very helpful in selecting our food items. My son and I went for the "steak on a sword" (I forgot the true name) and it was terrific along with the rosti (a better hash brown cake) and some potato salad. Of course we downed a couple of beers on tap. The evening was a fun time with very good (not great) food. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great location. Located in the heart of Zurich. This restaurant is bustling with customers so there may be a small wait if you don't have a reservation. I got lucky with a table upon walkin. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I chose to sit outdoor as it was nice outside! The server was so nice and accommodating. The food came out very quick and was delicious! I love a roasted pork knuckle so I was quite excited to see it on the menu! It was flavorful and very delicious. Not too fatty. The desserts were ok. The strudel was too dry but the walnut ice cream was great !

Yelp
Zeughauskeller was such a neat spot to grab a bite to eat. The building had a lot of old history and artifacts on display. The cozy, old World feel coupled with the lively crowd really felt special. We benefited from making advanced reservations as it tends to be a busy spot for locals and travelers alike. We tried the calf liver with rosti and both were cooked to perfection. We enjoyed some local beer and enjoyed their house special dessert. Pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Madison M.

Yelp
Very fun authentic swiss food in the great city of Zurich! Zeughauskeller is such a fun and unique gem, with old historical weaponry decorating the walls the restaurant sure tells a story! As you sit in a medieval barracks, you have a big menu of meats and authentic swiss cuisine to choose from. The restaurant was large and the service is top notch, and they were able to accommodate us without a reservation (though I recommend making one if you are planning on making a trip here!). I enjoyed a traditional sausage with potato salad and it was very tender and juicy! The potato salad was some of the best i've ever had! The menu is big with lots to choose from so I definitely recommend taking a trip back to medieval times at this authentic restaurant in Zurich!
google avatar

Katrina M.

Yelp
Busy crowded restaurant that feels like a beer hall. Efficient hosts that find seats. Crowded tables so it feels like you are sharing table. Met delightful retired couple at our elbows, but not everyone wants to meet new people for dinner. On expensive side. Display of different weapons as it was an armory. Food is fair and is instantaneously served.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
My family went here for our final meal in Switzerland. We had a short wait for the table. The building used to be an armory until 1926 and so there are some neat artifacts. I had the sausage in a skewer which incomes different sausages. Be sure to try the onion sauce. My wife had the macaroni. The service was excellent.
google avatar

Lynn F.

Yelp
Authentic as hell! Delicious. Oh, the interior, wherever you look. Stenciled wood beamed high ceilings, arched windows, decorative framing, wrought iron, dark wood, weaponry old, armor, art, & for some reason a row of modern motorcycle helmets. I highly recommend the traditional veal schnitzel. Ive tried it in three restaurants, and learned the portions are ridiculously large, breading is crispy, and to my taste- could really use a sauce. Good luck with that. Marinara, nope, tomato sauce, nope, red sauce, nope. In exasperation, the waiter brought me catsup. I was finally successful at last restaurant by asking for pizza sauce. (Marinara) This place is continuously busy, service is rapid, they don't push you to leave. Soak it all in. Don't forget a stein o beer. Only thing missing is oompah music

Yelp
Wonderful service and family friendly atmosphere! i will come back here. it is nice and cozy and lots of space. the waiters are kind and helpful the food is good! lots of glizzy bratwurst for all you folks! i got some potato cake thing and also cream chicken and mushrooms. this place is a real gem it's pretty good but for zurich standards make sure to have reservations for dinner! i went for lunch and it was not packed. thsi was the only place that asked for a tip A+

Yelp
Great history, great food, cool vibe, maybe the best in Zurich. Staff were efficient in their service. Bathroom was very clean. Upon arrival the amazing food smell whacks you to say, you have arrived, come in.
google avatar

Yelp
Order the meat for two as shown here and you will have one of the best meals of your visit to Zurich. Sorry, I don't know the name of this meal, since I don't speak Swiss-German so I posted a picture to reference. Ask for the meat that is served on a sword. It was 88 franks for the meat and side but so worth it.
google avatar

Vijay R.

Yelp
This spot is the most authentic German style Swiss food in Zurich. You get great volume for your money with yummy beer, sausages, fries, etc. The service is really nice too.

Yelp
Set in an old armory, Zeughauskeller was the first restaurant we chose on our recent trip to Zürich. When we arrived there was a short line and we were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for us as two people. We were offered to share a table with another party of two, which was fine with us and it got us seated a little quicker. Our server, Andy, was AMAZING. He gave us such good recommendations on food and beer and checked in regularly, without feeling rushed. We ordered the traditional Kalbsgeschnetzeltes nach Zürcher Art (veal and mushrooms in a delicious creamy white-wine sauce, accompanied by potatoes), which was super flavorful (would absolutely order it again) and the Augustiner "Schüblig," which was some of the best sausage I've ever had. We also ordered the Zeughauskeller, which is their beer brewed in house. It was crisp and delicious. Highly recommend and we'll be back!
google avatar

Ted R.

Yelp
The food here is traditional German Swiss. I had the veal medallions in a creamy brown wine sauce with mushrooms. It comes with the potato rosti, which is like hash browns. It was excellent. My wife had the pork cordon bleu, noodles, and the creamy seasonal soup, which was asparagus. Also an excellent dish. The house beet was fantastic. Be sure to get it! The restaurant building is from the 1400's, so Christopher Columbus could have eaten here before discovering McDonalds in the United States. We sat at a table for six, and they also seated another couple at the other end of the table. They were on their honeymoon and were fun to talk with. Service was fine, except that we were charged for an additional item we did not order or get. That always makes me suspicious. The total with the mystery item removed was over $100 USD. BY American standards, it was expensive, but perhaps not by Swiss standards.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
After a long flight, we decided to dive right into the local cuisine! We read that Zeughauskeller was authentic and very popular amongst locals and tourists! The inside of the restaurant has lots of wartime relics. The old masonry reminded me of a medieval dungeon. Despite that, the atmosphere is very cozy and lively! The service is great. Although it was popular during the lunch hour and we didn't have reservations, the host was kind enough to seat us anyway! The smoked pork sausage was my favorite! The spice mixture was definitely something unique! It was a chilly day so I ordered some soup. The beef broth in the onion soup was AMAZING! I don't think I've ever had a more flavorful onion soup!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a beer hall. Be prepared to share your table with at least six other like minded folks. Everyone is easy going and there to have a great time. Don't be surprised if some of the diners break out in their football team's song. The food is well prepared. I have been there a few times and ordered some type of sausage with potato salad, red cabbage or sauerkraut. All great. The beers are spot on. They also serve wine and spirits. Considering how crowded the restaurant is, service was prompt and friendly. Walking distance from the train station and conveniently located to shops and sights. I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
I recently visited a restaurant that has long enjoyed its popularity, but unfortunately, it seems like success has come at the cost of neglecting some crucial aspects--especially the service. The place has become synonymous with 'quick,' and not necessarily in a good way. From the moment we walked in, it was a rush, rush, rush affair. We waited for what felt like an eternity, approximately 30 minutes, only to find ourselves finishing our entire dining experience within 45 minutes. It was as if speed had become the priority, leaving little room for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. While the food wasn't terrible, it was decidedly average. If you're someone who values both the quality of the food and the service, you might want to look elsewhere. The menu offered standard fare, but nothing stood out as exceptional or memorable. It's disappointing when a once-popular spot starts to compromise on the very elements that made it a hit in the first place.
google avatar

J. J.

Yelp
This is a high volume dining experience similar to a beer hall with traditional Swiss cuisine. We enjoyed the beer, the food, and the atmosphere.
google avatar

Madeline L.

Yelp
Super fun! Was only in Zurich for a night and was told this was the place to go. The food was absolutely delicious and we had a great time. We sat outside which wasn't a problem, but I would recommend to others to sit inside. The food was also verrrry pricey but still a wonderful experience with great service.
google avatar

Vaughn W.

Yelp
The ambiance was amazing. Mixture of restaurant and museum. The food and service left us wanting. Over salted hash brown potatoes dominated my taste buds leaving a dull pork cordon blu. Our waitress went on a break or quit all together. No refill of beer or any service until the check which was offered by another waitress for our table as well as other tables around us. A poor experience with service and food.
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
Seemed a little touristy, but overall we had a solid experience. The restaurant is actually a historic armory, which they pay homage to with the interior decor. You can tell by looking at the building structure that it is a relic which was neat. We came here for lunch on a Thursday, and surprisingly to us the place was very busy. We didn't have a reservation but we were able to get seated (at a shared table where others were already eating) as long as we promised to be finished by 1pm when a reservation was coming (it was 11:45am so we agreed). I ordered a traditional style sausage dish, which came with potato salad. Everything was good, but just be aware mustard is a big ingredient in the potato salad and they serve multiple kinds of mustard with the sausage as well. If you don't like sausage, might not want to order a sausage here. Our table-mates were very friendly and also tourists, so it was an overall pleasant experience. I think next time I would probably skip this place though - food wasn't overly amazing and there are probably better, more authentic places.
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
Great restaurant, very busy, we got accommodated without a reservation. We are family of 4, we were all thinking of getting sausages, we decided to go with the 3feet sausage for $100+... it came with potato salad and we upgraded to the rosti for extra $7. It did not disappoint! We were satisfied. The resto looks intimidating but tye inside has a welcoming vibe, lots of tourists.
google avatar

Debbie F.

Yelp
A fabulous recommendation by a local. It's a very popular place for both tourists and locals. If you are a small group like we were (party of 2), expect to share a table with others. Lively, fun, traditional atmosphere. A menu full of traditional Swiss meals, ya pretty much can't go wrong. As far as dining in Zurich, this place was top of our list!

Yelp
So we had just arrived in Zurich after a red-eye flight and had spent most of the day taking cat naps and drinking some vino to get into the European Thanksgiving mindset. After walking around Bahnhofstrasse to see all the luxury shopping, we decided to check into this joint located right behind the Hermes with no knowledge of it. We stepped in and were greeted warmly by the folks. The set up is basically a beer hall and they have a great selection of beers and of course swiss/german style food. The ambiance is great and the service fast and efficient. After a quick peruse, we decided to order the sausage specialties on a skewer (Zeughauskeller Wurstpiess) and the Weinerschnitzel and tried a few of their house beers. The beers were delicious and cold so perfect way to kick off a Europe trip. The food came out pretty fast and the Schnitzel was good texture and breaded great. The fries were obviously good but was really hankering for a potato salad that would accompany it. All good though as it was definitely a solid schnitzel. The sausage plate was good also. Definitely a good way to try many samples but I wish I had just ordered a proper wurst. This was a great starting meal for sure and a great spot to hit up food as well. Glad we tried this spot. Check it out!

Yelp
What a delight! This restaurant had old school German / Swiss pub vibes, and you could really feel the history! We sat across from William Tell's bow and arrow, which were hanging on the wall. The food was delicious. Heavy, rich German food like schnitzel and pork knuckles, with several varieties of sausage and sides of potatoes in the form of potato salad and what felt like hash browns. My favorite thing on the menu was the onion sauce, CHF5, which was a dark, rich, caramelized onion sauce that we liberally poured over our sausages. Such a treat, looking forward to coming back next time! We weren't able to get a reservation, but they do a good job of keeping a number of tables empty for walk-ins on 8pm on a Wednesday night, so we didn't have to wait for a table.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, amazing service, interesting ambiance. Knowing that you are in a building that existed before Columbus discovered America.

Swathi M.

Yelp
We had a great time at Zeughauskeller. We did not have a reservation and it was very busy, but the staff were very accommodating and seated us(2 people) with less wait time. Food was delicious, friendly staff and excellent service! Great place for people who enjoy meat dishes.

Yelp
So this is definitely a destination for visitors, though it seems there were some Swiss people in addition to foreign tourists. Probably because the menu is like a tour of famous Swiss dish but without the fondue or the raclette. Very delicious and huge portions! Kalbsgeschnetzeltes nach Zürcher Art mit Rösti: While everyone knows fondue when they think of Switzerland, turns out this is another must try. It's a bit like beef stroganoff in that it's beef in a creamy mushroom sauce. Yet so much better because they use thin slices of tender veal that get seared quickly for optimal tastiness. While beef stroganoff tends to use tougher and thicker cuts from a full grown cow. Pairs excellently with rösti, that huge round of thinly shredded potatoes that crisped up nicely all around. And a very large portion with only half served on your plate initially and the rest left in a metal bowl warming over a candle. Seriously, don't leave Zurich without trying this. Bürgermeister Schwert: Perfect for the photo opportunity. A legitimate huge sword with thin and tender veal wrapped all around. Grilled up nicely like a kabab, but so much better than that minced meat stuff. Priced and portioned for 2 people, so you need someone else to go along with on this. Served with two sauces that kinda taste like they go with sausages, one brown sauce and the other like a creamy curry. While it was experience, I think the kalbsgeschnetzeltes is more a flavorful dish. Zeughauskeller Vacherin-Glacé: If you have room for dessert, you should definitely try this one since it's very unique. Two large meringue discs, kinda the texture you'd find in a macaron. But in-between is a huge amount of creamy vanilla cream. And on top, delicious raspberries and whipped cream. It's a bit like the Swiss took the Pavlova and added a bunch of yummy dairy to it. Despite being so huge and tasty, not overwhelmingly filling.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious, authentic Swiss cuisine. Very good and big portions - plate was licked clean! The staff is very hardworking and their turn around time is incredible. Very warm atmosphere, feels like you are feasting with your fellows. Sehr gut! #Prost

Yelp
July 25/2022: This place was SO good we went twice in a row! The food was outrageously delicious! The schnitzel, the sausage, the potato's. Mine for the first nite was weisswurst & potato salad. SO DELICIOUS. The second nite was the Veal Schnitzel w Rosti. Both of these meals were just simple beyond delicious. If you're in Zurich...you MUST eat here. Full STOP!

Yelp
Restaurant has been around longer since American was a country. Not a tourist trap since food deliveries. Came here without a reservation on a Thursday evening at 530, seated right away. Excellent food - I ordered the grilled variety sausage with potato salad and sauerkraut and my husband ordered the Wienerschnitzel with hash browns. We both ordered a large draft beer but wish we ordered the beer flambé once we say other table order it! Sizeable portions, took some to go to feed to swans on the lake. We def recommend for out of towners

Yelp
Long line if you don't make a reservation. Although I was solo so they fit me in. Cider isn't on the menu, but is available! Group tables, you may sit with another party.

Yelp
Our last dinner in Zurich and I'm so glad we chose this place. Yes, it's very touristy - located in a former armory with tons of wartime paraphernalia around for decor. It was listed as "Swiss food" and it was warm, hearty and comforting. Space is large, open, and sort of loud. This isn't the place for an intimate dinner. My daughter basically got mac and cheese - some kind of pasta with Gruyere and potatoes and caramelized onions and it was INCREDIBLE. I need to figure out how to recreate that pasta at home. Other kid got the beef soup and ate it like it was going out of style. So flavorful and warm on a cold, wet day. I got the rosti and Wienerschnitzel and it was a hefty portion. I wish this hadn't been our last night so we could have taken our leftovers with us. Most of the big meals will definitely have enough for a second meal. If you are a "meat and potatoes" kind of person, this is your food. We also enjoyed a well made non-alcoholic apple cider and our waiters were kind and all spoke English. HIGHLY recommend for anyone visiting Zurich. To note, there were definitely locals eating there as well. Prices were typical for Zurich, which is to say, expensive. Recommend getting a reservation as the place fills up fast after 6pm. We would definitely go back!

Yelp
This is a great place to taste authentic cuisine. We ordered a Wiener Schnitzel and the Zürcher Geschnetzeltes with Rösti which were both outstanding. The portions were very generous. Prices were a little high but it was well worth it. Service was good despite a full house the ambiance pleasant..

Yelp
Oh my god. This place has such fresh ingredients for the desserts. It's to die for.. the cakes are so beautiful and well decorated but also tastes amazing!! It looks to beautiful to eat but when you do, it's a burst of sweet tastes in your taste buds.

Yelp
Great Bierhaus experience. I really enjoyed the total aesthetic and traditional beer hall feel.

Yelp
Amazing food a lot of locals go to this restaurant so make sure you make a reservation. Pork shank is fall of the bone and my wife order the Veal in mushroom gravy. Our server Peter is very nice and friendly. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Went here for lunch. We had limited time. We had sausages with potato salad and sauerkraut. My significant other also tried their beer and it was very good. This is a place with a lot of history. We sat outside, and the place was quite busy. The food was great - typical Swiss. The service was not very attentive. Great place for a typical Swiss lunch if you are downtown.

Yelp
We made reservations for lunch just after they opened as we read all the reviews about how popular the place was. They weren't kidding! We got there at 11.45 and by noon they were packed. They have family style dining so you share your table with others as time goes by - which didn't bother us it was fun. The service was quick and the food even quicker. We had Hungarian sausage with potato salad and one of this months specials potato asparagus gnocchi- all of the food was excellent. Would recommend and definitely would go back as there were so many things we would have loved to have tried.

Yelp
This is traditional Swiss cuisine in an old armory. The decor reflects the armory history (as does the Mayor's Sword if you're feeling like you want a dinner spectacle). We had sausages with rösti and beer, followed by apple strudel. Everything was delicious. We didn't know this, but it's communal dining so as a group of 2, be prepared to sit at a 4-top with another group of two diners. The tables have plenty of space so it's not uncomfortable, just something to note. Excellent service and everything is brought out very quickly.

Yelp
Food was great! Service was good and fast in spite of the crowd. And ambiance, nice touch of swiss culture. We enjoyed our dinner.
