Everybody is raving about their Yu Sheng but I am here to rave about another dish: Their signature Wine Chicken.
Walking past on a crowded weekday afternoon, this stall caught my attention with Wine Chicken as one of their dishes. At $5 and rice at $0.70, both the selection and the price intrigued me. I'm not even a big fan of wine chicken and rarely eat it, but at a competitve price point in a hawker, I had to try.
All I can say is, if you even slightly crave wine chicken and are around the area, patronising this stall is a no-brainer.
Their Shaoxing wine provides a very aromatic experience. The soup alcoholic essence is very storng, so its very 开胃.
Chicken meat wise, they have some breast meat which is better paired with soy sauce, and some very tender meat around the bone with skin which was amazing. All the while having that very aromatic strong taste of wine "soup", which was laden with black fungus and leek.
This stall confuses me, cause they sell wine prawns ($6) and pig organ soup ($5). But honestly, I will attest for the wine chicken which is such a unique offering in this setting, and did satisfy that rare craving of a chinese wine dish which I rarely eat.
Served by a very nice lady who would cook each serving so it takes a while. No queue which leaves me puzzled, but yes do come down and do give this a go.
