5 hidden finds in Beijing’s hutongs (alleys) - SilverKris
"A historic Peking opera theatre dating to 1688 during the Kangxi Emperor's reign and counted among China's oldest performance venues. It has a distinguished performing legacy—most notably associated with master performer Mei Lanfang—and continues to stage his classic works, with tickets commonly available for Friday and Saturday performances." - SilverKris
Fascinating experience with Chinese opera, in this case Kunqu Opera. It is very slow paced but the music is interesting, the costumes are fabulous, and the subtle dancing and hand movements engaging. Its is a beautiful, small theater. Most any seat would be good.
