I'm really sorry. I know for a fact that the chef can make it right, but the location and the people that will support his business, he does it for them..and that is okay with me because I understand. Go try it for yourself if you are in the area and see for yourself. Just because it didn't fit my bill doesn't mean it won't fit yours. We ordered: - House special fried rice 4/10 Baby Shrimp was still cold. Rice was a bit mushy. The flavor wasn't right. And for it being the house special, it looked good, but it just wasn't right. - House special lo-mein 7/10 This was probably the best dish that day Flavor had a bit more salt. Noodles were soft, and the sauce was pretty good, even for being a bit salty. It's very similar to Great Moon Buffet Lo- mein. - kung pow Shrimp 4/10 Came with 6 big shrimp, a LOT of sauce, and a ton of veggies. I don't know why it was sour and not spicy. I felt the sauce wasn't cooked, and it seemed like the sauce was added after. - Beef with scallion 4/10 It uses the same sauce as kungpow shrimp. I'm not sure if that is right, but it's very similar to kung power shrimp. Ton of veggies, not much meat, and the sauce looked like it was added after.

Food was pretty good. But got delivered and no rice. I ordered 5 different. Quart!!! No rice also ordered sweat and sour chicken. No sweet and sour!! Only chicken. Had to make my own rice and luckily I had some sweet and sour in frig. Spent a pretty penny and left a very large tip. Called and they were not very understanding. Then hung up. Tried to call back and now have no answer!! From now on only order from Beijing. Just thought I would try a place closer to home, But not worth it!!!

Google
Just a little place in a strip mall that was surprisingly really good. The portions are huge, and the lady who took our order was really nice. Would definitely get food from here again if we're staying in the area. And did I mention the portions are huge? I had enough for dinner and breakfast for 2 the next day. Can't comment on the atmosphere as we were the only ones eating in that day. The kitchen was very busy with takeout orders.

Google
This place is phenomenal.... we stopped going to this restaurant a few years ago but decided to give it a try again. It was delicious and was at a great price. We will be going again and encourage others to do the same!!

Google
Hands down the best General Tso’s chicken in the area. L7 is my go-to for the last 20yrs. Excellent family and business. It’s not fancy. So what? I like it that way. Keeps the prices down. All the other food is good too. I can’t remember ever getting anything I couldn’t eat.

Google
Used to be my go-to place for Chinese-American food and this place has completely gone down hill. Lo Mein tasted like it was cooked in a dirty pan; dumplings were ok, but above all the service is horrible. Ordered to go and all the people working were incredibly rude. won’t be supporting this business any longer. Miss what it used to be.

Google
Bare bones atmosphere, zero service. This is a self serve establishment. Food was good. Great for a quick meal. Nothing fancy by any means. Excellent staff and super friendly.

Google
Well..I threw 3/4 of my order away because it was completely unpalatable. I saw that the reviews for this restaurant were mixed, so I decided to give them a try. I ordered chicken fingers that were deep fried so long, and buried in so much tempura I honestly couldn't tell what exactly I was eating. The Seafood Soup tasted like Egg Drop Soup with thin slices of shrimp and mini corn cobs tossed in It, and it honestly wasn't very good. I also ordered Vegetable Lo Mein, which was soggy, and the cabbage they put in it was bitter. The sauce didn't have any of that beautifully complex unami flavor I've come to love in Lo Mein at all, and it was incredibly bland. The rice with my main dish was undercooked, and chewy, but my Moo Goo Gai Pan was the best part of the meal (even though it also had the appeal and taste of plain white bread). Shrug. I'm not certain how, but everything I ordered was just off by miles. I won't be ordering again.

Yelp
Gets the job done. Personally I'd say this is the best Chinese spot I've found in the twin ports area since moving here a year ago. General Tso Chicken is really solid here. Good prices, good portions, food tasted fresh. Would recommend.

Yelp
Really disappointing. We ordered three entrees and two appetizers for $75 with tip and delivery fees. Three of the items went into the garbage. We thought there had been a mistake with the chicken chow mein as it was a bowl of watery onions, cabbage, and steamed chicken. I called about it and the woman said chow mein doesn't have noodles, only lo mein. I've ordered chow mein many times and never experienced that, so I assumed maybe this was more authentic and it was my mistake. But a google search turned up that chow mein is fried noodles and lo mein are tossed, so, no. It's also listed under noodles with no description, so maybe they should change that if that's how they're going to serve it. The sauce for the Kung pao chicken had no flavor, and the meat tasted weird and we just couldn't eat it. Fried wontons were so hard and dry they were inedible. Two stars because the moo shu pork was good and the fried dumplings were okay, but they didn't come with sauce, so we had to make some. Delivery was estimated at 45 mins to an hour, which sometimes is an overestimate, but it did take the full hour to arrive. Sadly won't be ordering from here again.

Yelp
This was my first dinner stop while being back in Duluth. For YEARS this was our family's favorite Chinese restaurant ever. I was so excited to be back in the area and to grab some amazing food. Sadly, it was just very ok. The bean curd was just mushy big chunks of tofu- not fried or anything. The sauces were very heavy on the soy sauce and not much else. No depth, no savoriness. Dry chokey lomien. The biggest disappointment were the cream cheese wontons. Maybe a teaspoon of sour tasting filling in the big wonton. Just not the same at all. Much of our $67 of food went uneaten. I am sad. and still hungry...

Koz R.

Yelp
My family regrettably ordered a rather large order of Chinese food from this place and while I have enjoyed food here from the past. Over the years the food has gone way downhill and to be very direct....sucked. I ordered a classic General Tsaos Chicken and not only was the food Luke warm upon arrival but the chicken was fried entirely wrong. It looked as though they took some old chicken someone else didn't want and refried it with some old oil and added sauce on it to make it seem like it was new. The chicken had a very off putting taste to it. Almost like, and I hate to say this, a sewage-like kind of aftertaste. Like whatever chicken they used was expired and/or left out all night but fried anyway. We also ordered sweet and sour shrimp. The shrimp once again was extremely luke warm and had no real flavor or crisp to it at all. The rice we had was still very crunchy and not cooked all the way through. The fried chicken although the flavor was "decent" was lukewarm and seemed like it was old and reheated. And to top it all off all this reheated old lackluster food was a whopping 61 bucks. So after a long day and already spending a lot of money shopping we stupidly decided to relax and not make our own food and instead ordered this atrocious excuse of Chinese food. And I will also add that for months I stayed away from this restaurant because one day upon walking in their establishment, I noticed a man battering up won-tons with his bare hands. God knows what was on this man's hands. But there he is. Battering won tons with no protection from whatever wad on his hands. This will be very last time I order from this place again.

Yelp
Portions are big, people seem nice, takeout was quick, but hoo boy, this was the saddest Chinese dinner I've ever ordered. "Szechuan bean curd" = uncooked tofu swimming in salt-flavored goop with a few microscopic cubes of crunchy carrot serving as the one lonely vegetable. Barely edible, unfortunately.

Justin C.

Yelp
Stopped in Zhong Hua today for the first time in a while, sad to see this lil dive joint go downhill like it has. This used to be the go to spot in west Duluth for Chinese take out but I guess that was before the 2 other Chinese joints in the neighborhood closed their doors. The ol white lady at the register went from handling cash to wiping tables to working the fryer and touching customers food.... Had me double thinking if I wanted to eat my lunch special..... the S&S chicken wasn't bad, but the fried rice was very undercooked rice. Very bland with no flavor. My lunch bowl was filled with a good 65% fried rice, in that portion I found 2 little pieces of pork and 3 tiny slivers of onion. That was it for ingredients on the pork fried rice. No flavor whatsoever to it, on top of the undercooked crunchy rice..... next time I'm in the mood for some Chinese, I'll definitely take a ride over the bridge where they have decent food before I make another visit to this jernt.

Yelp
Not bad food, but if you get it for takeout, you often won't get everything you ordered. Check your bags!

arianna h.

Yelp
Ordered Zhong Hua takeout tonight and it was fantastic! The Lo mein was saucy, the sesame chicken was perfect and the sweet and sour chicken was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Service was super friendly as well! Really the best it's ever been!

Candy S.

Yelp
Chop Sticks closed so we tried this place. They do NOT take orders before 11 SHARP. I called at 11:03. Simple order of 3 things - told ready in 15 minutes. Got there and nothing ready and said it would be another 20 minutes until they got their pork fried rice. We were going to cancel order - they hadn't even started as of 11:15. They quick started the order, even tho food was heading out the door. We didn't get the food until 11:45 and no pork fried rice - they gave just some white rice. I am done with this place. Don't plan on eating in the place - it's not a clean atmosphere. The people aren't really friendly either. Drive to Superior and get your Chinese food there. Waste of money here.

Jean W.

Yelp
please clean the counter area! the food is very good! big portions, kitchen looks clean, you can see right in it... nice people... but the lobby and counter need a deep cleaning, i would not eat in.. this was 11:00 opening.

Deb R.

Yelp
You never know if the food is going to good or not. I've been there and the food has been great. Then the next time it's not. The last time I was there, which was recently, the food was not the best. I had the combo of pork fried and sweet and sour chicken. The rice was only slightly warm and not much flavor, however the sweet and sour chicken was better. The time before, all of the food was really good.

Luann J.

Yelp
Oh my gosh - one of the worst meals we've ever had. This was a delivered meal - food could possibly be different if in the restaurant. We ordered at 6:39. We were told a 45 minute to 1 hour before delivery. At 8:37 (2 minutes short of 2 hours) our food was delivered. We ordered fried crispy wontons. They must have been fried a minimum of two times - they were so hard, it was difficult to bite through. The inside was so well done it was almost black. The sesame chicken was flavorful, but again - think the pieces had gone through the fryer several times. The vegetable mai fun had a sour odor and flavor. 90% noodles. Had to look for the pea pods and a few carrot shreds with fried egg? Would not eat here again! We wished we hadn't tried their food in the first place.

Jaime O.

Yelp
I had lunch delivered. The general Tso's chicken has a mild/sweet sauce. The chicken was cooked well and it had several pieces of broccoli. The pork fried rice was pretty basic: rice, a few pieces of pork, and some sautéed onion. It was quick and hit the spot for lunch. Better than chain restaurant but not the best Chinese food I have had. It was a good size portion for the price.

David Q.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped here for lunch recently because Zhong Hua is the highest Yelp-rated Chinese place in the Duluth-Superior area. First impressions: This is a Chinese take-out place that has a half-dozen table out front is you happen to want to eat in. There is zero ambiance. There are cardboard boxes filled with restaurant supplies boxes stacked along one wall. There is no table service here. To order for eat-in or take out you place your order at the counter. If eating in they will bring your food out to you, served on disposable plates. The good: The food is excellent!!! Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were ample. From the time we ordered to the time that staff brought us our food was about 5 minutes. The bad: The ceiling tiles really need to be replaced. Every tile is water-stained. On the whole I recommend Zhong Hua.

Meli O.

Yelp
They added an online ordering function they don't know how to use; they don't pick up their phone or put you on hold for minutes before hanging up on you; they literally have no customer service or respect and the foods not good either. Not worth the high GrubHub delivery fee or even the trip there. So disappointed because they were recommended so often.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Reasonably priced, amazingly quick (we ordered on Christmas) and tasty. Solid food, I tried the hot and sour, shrimp egg roll, and a mix of the major dishes. Nothing was off on the dishes so for a random choice on Christmas I was quite satisfied.

TayLor H.

Yelp
Have only ever had the General Tso's chicken, but it's always great, always filling, always puts a smile on my face

Terri P.

Yelp
Always great! Delicious food and fast delivery! Pleasant staff and huge selection on menu.

Connie S.

Yelp
ordered take out.. 2 combination meals and an order of cream cheese wontons. Got it home and only had one meal, which was not what we ordered so went back. the staff argued but eventually fixed the order but charged us double. Gave us back the cold soggy wontons instead of making fresh. needless to say we will not be going back.

Thoyaja K.

Yelp
Like other reviews, the interiors of the restaurant need a major make over. However, they make it up by providing excellent dishes which are very close to being authentic and you can certainly feel the freshness of the veggies in every bite. Good value for your money and also feel good about yourself by eating healthy food

Gordy S.

Yelp
Traditional Asian menu well prepared quickly. Hot and delicious. A very extensive menu leading to a good chance they have a dish you'll enjoy or is already your favorite. Authentic staff who speak fast so be prepared to give the number for your dish from the menu. Not the fanciest looking restaurant, but the food is truly great. Big portions so plenty of leftovers or extra to share. Try them!

Mike S.

Yelp
Possibly the best General Tso's we've ever had. Also had Kung Pao Chicken and sweet and sour chicken. All were excellent. This is our number one Chinese eatery in the area.

Ryan W.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I can't believe we didn't find Zhong Hua earlier after living in Cloquet for 2 years. The Chinese in Cloquet is dreadful and Zhong Hua has been consistently good since we've been getting takeout from there. Service is fast, the orders are accurate, and they food is very good. We will return to Zhong Hua!

Erin N.

Yelp
Fabulous! We got take-out and it was hot, flavorful, and crisp! The selection was wonderful also.

David F.

Yelp
Although the decor leaves something to be desired, it was clean and welcoming and most of all the food was prepared in minutes and was amazingly good! I'm used to NYC Chinese and this was even better. The Szechuan Tofu Buddhists' Delight was delicious (even the order taker said it was her favorite) and the wait staff could not have been more gracious. A real find!

Stuart K.

Yelp
Horrible, tasteless, overcooked, and delivered almost two hours late without plastics to our hotel. Their excuse, "we're busy". Poor excuse for letting food like that leave the kitchen even! Over $40 wasted.

Brett H.

Yelp
Can't speak for the inside of the restaurant, however the food was fantastic. They delivered to Lakeside for free and was piping hot, food was fresh and well cooked. Happy we finally found a good Chinese place in Duluth!Try the Singapore Mai (Mei) Fun if you like spicy noodles, and it is spicy.

Dan B.

Yelp
Delicious! Hot! Huge portions!, quality slips the busier they are though! But best general tso chicken i may have ever had ! Absolutely delicious wonton soup, but too much noodle covering on the wonton

Dave L.

Yelp
I ordered a quart of chicken fried rice for about 9 and a half dollars. I was hungry, looking forward to a simple meal. When I opened the carton, the chicken was pink. Like, salmonella pink. Gross. I tried a little bit, and it was slimy and cool. Not ordering from here again.

Aurora R.

Yelp
I've always had respect for this restaurant except in recent days. last couple of times I've ordered we haven't gotten the full order though they charge you for the full order. And this time it was delivered right after close and they refuse to answer the phones in order to correct the order. if I was to estimate the amount of money I've lost ordering from them it would be well over $80. they take advantage of the fact that they deliver to dead restaurant zones where others won't go out so if you're disabled and unable to prepare a meal that night you're stuck with them and no other choice. if somebody from the restaurant would like to contact me at some point in order to try to rectify this I would appreciate it. The last couple of times I've been willing to overlook but this the last one was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Viktoria S.

Yelp
Best Chinese food I've ever had. Easily best in Duluth. I recently moved out to Colorado and realize I've taken them for granted. I've tried 15 Chinese places out here so far and they all have been disappointing. No one makes it like Zhong Hua does. I still haven't been able to find broccoli with garlic sauce similar to these guys' and haven't even came close to egg food young as good. I love their chop suey and have only found one place that comes close to how theirs is and how good, but they're not as good. Best flavor wonton soup I've ever had and best, biggest cream cheese wontons. One of the things I miss most about Duluth and the first place I go to when I visit!

Karen A.

Yelp
We picked up some chicken fried rice. It was fresh and tasty, done on time. I will ask for some extra veggies added next time. It's nice to have takeout in this end of town.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Wow. SSSOOOO BAD. DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT FROM THEM. First of all, the person taking the order was rude and treated me like garbage. Which is a GREAT way to run a business. Then, it took them over an hour to deliver my food (five dollars extra for delivery btw). Well the Aromatic duck was cold. It was cut into chunks and then fried. Not only was it way overdone, the bite sized chunks weren't deboned. What cook is that stupid. I'm never ordering from this place again. Worst Chinese delivery I've ever had. DO NOT ORDER

Pa V.

Yelp
Open late but the food lacks a lot of flavor. Ordered Szechuan tofu and it was soft tofu in soy sauce with a few cubes of carrots. Veggie mei fun had almost no veggies except thinly sliced baby corn and Napa cabbage. Portions were large but flavor was none. Pretty disappointed throwing away a ton of food

Tyler J.

Yelp
This place is definitely very delicious. Checked it out and would gladly return. A little more spendy than others in the area but not by much and the food is made with quality and very tasty. This place is worth checking out and very easily the best Chinese food in West Duluth. Would recommend.

Bryant M.

Yelp
Made a take out order on my way through Duluth. They forgot one soup, beef and scallops bland, under seasoned and vegetables raw. I called the mamager...or whoever she was...Carrie, VERY RUDE, and didn't want to listen. I told her she forgot one of the soups I ordered. She said yes, but I didn't charge you for it! Lol I said that's not the issue, you forgot it. She said again, I didn't charge you for it. Next, I told Carrie the entree dish was bland and undercooked. Carrie said, "the food looked good to her"! I asked her if she was calling me a liar? She said bring everything back in and will re-cook it. I told her it was a 25 minute drive one way that was not possible. she said oh well.. She didn't care and, I told her that. She hung up on me... Good luck with that!

Pat R.

Yelp
Cheap, fast, easy. This place is awesome. The food is good. The people are funny. The portions are huge. This place offers no frills, well prepared, tasty Chinese food. They deliver, they don't take credit cards, and they barely speak English. What they do do is fill you up without emptying your wallet. If you're looking for great Chinese food and a ton of leftovers, this is your place!

Erik K.

Yelp
The best Chinese food in Duluth! Hands down. I have traveled and had some amazing Chinese food on the West Coast. P.F. Chang does an awesome job with hot woks, browning their food. Zhou Hua has tremendous sauces. Garlicky, spicy, full flavor; I'm impressed! It is what We have been looking for, for almost 3 years! If you don't want all of your dishes to taste the same, this will be your go-to as it is mine! You have nothing to lose!!!

Lee A.

Yelp
We hadn't had their food in a very long time, so on Aug. 14, 2020 we decided to splurge & ordered their Pork Fried Rice & Chicken LoMein. We are not a real picky eaters, but both items were awful. Maybe their taking shortcuts somehow being business is slower due to COVID, whatever the case may be, the food was not good at all. Being famished we ate some & threw away most of it. Basically we wasted $33.00. Plus several hours later one of us got sick. Which is a first! Don't think either of us will go back there again! Note, We are both from Duluth..for some reason YELP shows me from CA

Juan C.

Yelp
Would not recommend eating here! The walls after covered in old food that looked like my kids snot had recently been flicked into the wall. The floors after covered in a layer of dirt that may have been there since this places opening. If you do decide to eat here, take a look around! You will reconsider!!!

Hanna S.

Yelp
Your food was cold, and tasted like a dollar freezer meal from Walmart! I do not recommend this restaurant

James Z.

Yelp
Wost food I have ever tasted what happened? It took over two and a half hours for it to get delivered. Then the lady taking the orders lies says they only have one delivery driver . When he final shows he States that my order just went out. It was cold had to microwave it. I will never order from there afsin

Janice S.

Yelp
We have been ordering from Zhong Hua for years, especially since our favorite restaurant the Jade Fountain closed . The food was OK...not our favorite, but they delivered. Our last order was so disappointing.......their soup that is usually very good had NO flavor. The Singapore Mai Fun, which is suppose to have some spice was very bland. Maybe it was just an off night for them but we will not be ordering from there again.

Paula W.

Yelp
Mei Fun of all flavors is a favorite in my office. As well as the Cashew Chicken and Broccoli Chicken. I'm not a fan of the pot stickers however. Quick delivery as well. Portions are huge, can usually eat at least 3 meals from one order.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Fantastic food quality, portions and prices. If you miss Bejing restaurant, come here. It's the same menu and food. Best Asain food in town.

Dan W.

Yelp
The best place in the twin ports for Chinese food. Great fried rice, fair pricing, and a great selection, beats out jade fountain and golden inn any day, go check it out

Cazil S.

Yelp
We ordered vegetable lo mein, kung pao chicken and cream cheese wontons. v fresh, v good, v satisfying. portions are good for multiple meals unless ya nasty.

Wendy S.

Yelp
One of the better Chinese restaurants in Duluth. Atmosphere is like Beijing so might as well get it to go. Order the Singapore Mai Fun noodles and you won't be disappointed.
