We enjoyed an absolutely magnificent meal at highly acclaimed Zig Zag on a Saturday night with NO reservations! We had just returned from an excursion to Colca Canyon and approached the maitre d to explain our situation and she said as long as we finish up in 2 hours by 8pm, they could give us the private dining room on the second floor! We realized we got really lucky and enjoyed one of the finest meals we've had here in Peru. Obviously, reservations are highly recommended at this acclaimed restaurant.
Our meal started off perfectly as our server Omar was both warm, gracious and funny! He taught us how Peruvians toast their drinks. After drinks, we started with some fresh bread along with their garlic and anchovy butter with salsa verde. We ordered a wide selection from their menu including the crayfish appetizer, quinoa soup, their signature three meat grill (beef, alpaca & lamb) on hot rock and Patagonia salmon. All of the dishes were cooked to absolute perfection. The doneness of the meats were a consistent medium rare and the Patagonia salmon was juicy and the skin was light and crispy! This was about as perfect a dining experience that you can have! The price was also very reasonable considering the outstanding quality of the food and service. Highly recommended!
