Zig Zag

“Gastronomic delight” to say in short. Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner at Zig Zag. The starter bread & butter cream was delicious. The meat served on Volcanic stone was juicy and melted in the mouth. Pisco Sour was great. Portion sizes were big. Service was quick and great. The atmosphere was rustic, it was a bit hot and sweaty though. Highly recommend the place.

Wonderful experience with amazing fresh food, excellent service and very nice restaurant. The food offered is inspired by Andes cuisine with a fusion and modernity (« between Andes and Alpes »). The products are very fresh and tasty. They have a good balance in the taste (not too salty as certain other Peruvian restaurants). They have good wine and dessert too.

Loved this place. The staff were probably the most friendly/helpful I’ve had in Latin America. The food was unreal so decided to treat myself for dessert and think I’ve found what I’ll be taking Christmas Day. Will definitely be back if I’m in Arequipa in the future. Still thinking about this meal 1 month later! (I went twice hence the 2 meals)

We enjoyed an absolutely magnificent meal at highly acclaimed Zig Zag on a Saturday night with NO reservations! We had just returned from an excursion to Colca Canyon and approached the maitre d to explain our situation and she said as long as we finish up in 2 hours by 8pm, they could give us the private dining room on the second floor! We realized we got really lucky and enjoyed one of the finest meals we've had here in Peru. Obviously, reservations are highly recommended at this acclaimed restaurant. Our meal started off perfectly as our server Omar was both warm, gracious and funny! He taught us how Peruvians toast their drinks. After drinks, we started with some fresh bread along with their garlic and anchovy butter with salsa verde. We ordered a wide selection from their menu including the crayfish appetizer, quinoa soup, their signature three meat grill (beef, alpaca & lamb) on hot rock and Patagonia salmon. All of the dishes were cooked to absolute perfection. The doneness of the meats were a consistent medium rare and the Patagonia salmon was juicy and the skin was light and crispy! This was about as perfect a dining experience that you can have! The price was also very reasonable considering the outstanding quality of the food and service. Highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious and with a great service. Of course it is at the higher end of the pricing range, but they offer a wide range of wines, drinks and food and the portions are big and delicious. The view from The balcony is great. I would come again!

Zig Zag is a very cozy restaurant in the center of Arequipa. The grilled meat is excellent and is served on a hot stone. I can really recommend the alpaca steak. Make sure to also try the house made sauces, especially the green garlic sauce. The beef carpaccio is also very tasty and is really worth a try.

We had a great time at Zigzag! Beautiful place with a nice view from the second floor. They were kind to accommodate us on a Saturday for a lunch reservation. The staff was attentive and kind.

Best restaurants in town! The concept of having meat tastings (with little flags who show what animal you are eating) really adds to the experience here, you even get a cartoon bib to wear where you see how the animals beat up the chefs which adds some comical relief. The restaurant itself looks very cosy and welcoming, and is run by amazing staff. Of course all the meats and sides tasted amazing, this is a must go restaurant but do make sure that you make a reservation, it's always packed.
