Whenever we stay late in the city for a show or concert, we usually end up eating at Super Duper after a grueling case of analysis paralysis, where we traipse through the Ferry Building and along the Embarcadero and decide that while we're hungry and don't want to drink on an empty stomach, we're not looking to drop $50+ on a rushed date night dinner.
But there are only so many times you can get a chicken sandwich at Super Duper before life becomes boring, repetitive, and dull (just telling it like it is!). Enter us taking a gamble last night with Ziggy's.
I'm usually leery of places that mesh multiple cuisines on one sprawling menu, and was a little skeptical when I saw a full Mediterranean spread alongside burgers and fish & chips. Ziggy's proved me wrong, and I'll happily be making this place a new go-to.
The food here tastes like it's being cooked by people who actually enjoy eating, and probably eat a lot of their own cooking. The South of the Border burger was perfectly grilled and had a solid amount of guac, and Ziggy's Bowl was packed with fresh veggies and chicken. The tzatziki was fresh and had big chunks of cucumber in it. All of it (including the Garlic Fries!) was amazing, and dare I say even a better burger (!) than Super Duper.
The chicken in my Ziggy's Bowl was a *bit* dry, but everything else was on point, along with service. Prices were totally reasonable, especially for the city. We'll definitely be back!
