The 9 Greatest Peeing Statues Ever

"Brussels’ Manneken Pis statue is one of the most famous sculptural images icons in the entire world. Recreations of the famed pissing baby can be found in gardens and fountains all over the world. The appeal of a naked little boy draining the snake can not be underestimated apparently. Lesser known, however, is that the Manneken Pis not only has a female counterpart, Jeanneke Pis, but also a dog known as Zinneke Pis, who is forever lifting his leg onto a Brussels street pole. Zinneke Pis was installed on the corner of Rue des Chartreux and Rue du Vieux Marché aux grains in 1998, centuries after his symbolic master was installed in the city in 1619. Like the little boy and the little girl, the pup was created life-size, but unlike its masters, the Zinneke Pis is not actually a pissing fountain, it is simply a bronze statue. Nonetheless, the metal canine is just as cute, looking a little guilty as he lets loose on the street corner. The bronze buddy is not as well known as his masters, but if people could catch on to his adorable little face, it is no doubt that gardens around the world would be covered in peeing dog statues in no time.  The creator of the dog also lives in the neighborhood, and he modeled it after his own pet, which can still be seen occasionally wandering the area. It is not known how often the real dog pisses in the street, but it can be well assumed that it is not as often as the eternally micturating Zinneke Pis. Also, it’s a boy." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Google
Nice statue of a dog Zinneke Pis be the road side. Not many people know about it. It was not busy like the Manekin Piss. A really interesting place to visit.

Google
Bronze sculpture of a dog doing a pee pee on a bollard. Belgian toilet humour doesn't get much better than this, unless it's Manneken pis. It's not as busy the the mischievous boy, so the wait to get a photo is very quick.

Google
A lot quieter than mannikin pis. Funny and is much more charming. Definitely visit all three!!

The peeing dog statue is one of Brussels’ famous landmarks. It’s charming and represents one of the city’s unique and quirky characteristics.

Google
It’s cute. All three are close by so it’s worth doing the very small trail, although this dog isn’t actually a fountain like the others which is a shame. Not many people are here when I came or at least not anywhere near as many as the others and it’s in a more open area.

Google
Meet Zinneke Pis, Brussels’ most mischievous pup. No, he’s not real. Yes, he’s proudly peeing on a post. Created in 1998 by Tom Frantzen, this bronze troublemaker completes the city’s trio of cheeky statues with Manneken Pis and Jeanneke Pis. A tribute to the mixed-breed spirit of Brussels: playful, rebellious and proudly messy. Don’t tell my husky I’ve been photographing other dogs!😬

We were about to buy chocolate and try the choco mousse , I was also ordering hot chocolate. He said we should go to the cashier, I explained that we need to order from the menu in front of the shop. He already walked to the cashier's place and lost patience to talk.

Google
Nice dog. Try to visit during the day because in the nigth it seems a little dangerous and on the night the city turn on a blu light ( imposible to take a regular photo with that ligth)

Yelp
A fly-by is recommended while in Brussels. You'll snap a quick photo and then probably be on your way. Unlike the little boy and little girl, this statue is not a fountain. However, it is laid out in the area slightly better, so while it gets busy, it doesn't feel as crowded. Unlike the others, I have not seen this mutt decorated or dressed at any point.

Yelp
The urinating dog is a statue and not a fountain like the other two pis. Stop by for a quick picture so you can say that you saw it.

Yelp
Zinneke translates to "mutt." It's a cute statue, but nothing extraordinary. I visited the other two pis statues, so I came because I needed to complete the trio.

Yelp
This peeing dog statue is cute, but nowhere near as cool as Manneken Pis or Jeanneke Pis. I say this because it's located on a street corner, making it difficult for photos. When we visited last month, the statue also had color on it like someone had drew on it. Still worth seeing!

Yelp
Five stars to complete the trilogy: Manneken, Jeanneke, and Zinneke! I made my husband hike around the city trying to find these three things, because if I find out there's a set of something, I have to see them all! The other two are fountains and this one is just a statue, but it did not disappoint. Definitely less of a tourist attraction, as it is on the corner in a nondescript neighborhood. Maybe not as popular, since seeing a dog peeing on a fire hydrant can be seen just about anywhere? So, it's less interesting than a little boy peeing or a little girl squatting? I never said I understood modern art! Anywho, the yellow paint representing urine was a nice touch, really added to the authenticity.... As I said, it is the third in a trilogy of peeing statues around town. Go see it! Or don't, I don't really care. 34/2020

Yelp
Love random street art like this; it is the 3-D companion to graffiti. This dog made us all happy; he was just doing his business - "nothing to see here."

Yelp
If you've got a boy eliminating. And tucked away in an alley by the best dive bar in the world (Delirium Village in case you're wondering) then obviously you need a statue to feature the final part of the trio of famous eliminators. A dog! It takes some finding as it's away from the tourists & in more of the artist district. But it's worth finding so you can complete the trifecta of urine. Minus a star because it's not actually peeing. It's a statue & not a working fountain.

Yelp
Pissing statue #3 This was a little bit tricky to find. A few locals remember seeing it but can't recall where it's located exactly. It's on a street corner. I was at St. Catherine's and just started walking aimlessly. There were some quirky stores along the way. A gallery of art using hair as medium. I kept walking and not really looking for anything in particular. Then there was a statue of a dog taking a piss. No crowd whatsoever. I was able to take pictures from different angles without any photobombers. It's free, not locked in a cage and isn't way up high (like Janneke Pis and Manneken Pis)...you can actually touch it.

Yelp
I feel a bit sorry for Zinneken Pis (aka. Het Zinneke). He's the third in the Pis family. After Manneken Pis and Jeanneke Pis, the little boy and the little girl, finally comes the pissing little dog. He's much newer, having only been built in 1998. He's far less well known. He's not hidden but he's not obvious either and, although I saw crowds constantly around Manneken and occasionally around Jeanneke, I never saw anyone near poor Het Zinneke. Perhaps it's because he has performance anxiety. Of the three Pis statues in Brussels, he's the only one who isn't part of a fountain. He stands, leg cocked eternally and unable to go. The poor thing. I think he's my favourite.

Yelp
No family is complete without a pet! To go along with the Peeing Boy/Peeing Girl fountains in Brussels, they have also added a Peeing Dog. It's not actually a fountain, just a statue, but it's super cute. A must-see if you're going to hunt down all the Peeing statues in Brussels. Recently the statue was actually hit by a car that had swerved off of the road and on to the sidewalk, but it has since been recovered and the statue now stands in its peeing position once again.

Yelp
The family dog! He is back - when I visited two months back, apparently someone had run over him and so happy to see him back on his regular street corner. I like this statue heaps more than of Mannekin / Janneke Pis.

Yelp
Aha! Finally, to complete the tour of "pis" is Zinneke Pis, the peeing pup statue. This particular statue doesn't rival in fame of the Manneken Pis.. and probably not even Jeanneke, and is relatively young in terms of statue ages around Belgium-- erected in 1998, but regardless, was a fun find. We ended up searching around St. Catherine for awhile, since I wasn't really able to use my GPS, and eventually gave up.... We then backtracked and on one more search realized we just didn't go far enough to Rue des Chartreux. For the most part he's just stationed in his spot, not really something people seem to pay any mind to. It's just a very quirky statue, and I love how it gives the city some flavor. Even though I was searching for it, I was still kinda surprised to just run smack dab into it after looking for so long. I guess, it should be noted, he's not particularly easy to find, but if you put yourself in the area, he's not all that hard to find either. He is on Rue des Chartreux and on a corner/intersection. Nothing particularly special. No bars, nothing protecting him. A comical but sweet statue of a dog doing what dogs do and providing a little humor to the city of Brussels.
