This place is great looking during renovations. Nice updated rooms, working AC, new fixtures and good soap. I was very happy with our stay had it not been for the renovations. Unfortunately this was not disclosed to us until we arrived at the location and saw it ourselves. Construction starts at 7am on the dot. Water was shut off without word and they never got back to us (although it was turned back on when we checked a few hours later) and the main reason for us booking was the pool, which was closed. I very much would stay there again, but I'm disappointed that we were not told of this after booking nor was it disclosed anywhere prior to booking. Knowing what we know we would've booked elsewhere. They said approx 2 months (at time of writing review in early june) until they fully open. I'd assume after they fully renovated it will be a fantastic place

We booked a 2 night stay at this hotel several months in advance for 3/11/25 and 3/12/25. We booked through Hotels.com. We received confirmation and our credit card was charged. In the days leading up to our reservation, I received several text messages asking about what time we planned to arrive. I corresponded with this number, and received instructions for checking in and getting a key. We drove 3 hours from the airport and arrived at 9 p.m. Upon arrival, we found that the hotel was completely gutted and undergoing major construction. Every room door was off the hinges, and the floors were torn up revealing sewer lines. My husband called the numbers on the front door and received no answer. When we found an alternative place to stay for the night, the person at the hotel desk mentioned we were the second people that day to have had a reservation at this hotel and need a last minute room. Clearly, this hotel is still taking reservations online (and money) with no actual place to stay. I continued to text with the number I had been previously and was told they were "coordinating with the team" to resolve it. I immediately contacted hotels.com to process a refund, and 24 hours later, they are still having issues just getting in contact with someone at the hotel. What's worse, because of the last minute change, I ended up having to pay $200 more than what I had originally paid. So not only have I not received a refund from this hotel, I'm already over budget on this trip.

We stayed one night 6/1/25 and booked this location due to proximity to Zion NP and amenities offered. We arrived at a construction site, and what appeared to be a closed business. We finally found someone in the parking lot and they informed us that the hotel had changed ownership, they were in the process of remodeling, they weren't officially reopening until 7/1, but they had a few rooms completed to fulfill reservations. Expected amenities or things typically found at hotels/motels... there was NO pool/hot tub(under construction), NO free breakfast, NO television, NO microwave, NO ice machine, NO trash can in our room, NO tissues, NO extra security on room door (like a chain or deadbolt). When I asked about getting even a partial refund, we were told to take pictures and to contact our booking agent, which was Expedia. The new owner or manager will not grant a refund. It was extremely unprofessional not to disclose this to customers with upcoming reservations.

The hotel is still under major renovation! No sign for customers to identify the property and the lobby is very makeshift with shabby breakfast bar (I would even say it looks more like snacks for the construction workers, not for hotel customers. See the picture ) The room was full with paint smell which is not great for sensitive people. I had to find another accommodation because this is unacceptable. And even the front desk told me they’ll refund my room but they insisted to charge me the cancellation fee. They only send a message two days before arrival saying we’re under renovation—which is totally underestimated!! THIS PROPERTY SHOULD NOT ACCEPT ANY CUSTOMER BEFORE THEY FINISH THE RENOVATION!!

Our rustic room was clean and spacious. The interior is a bit dated but charming. The parking lot is a bit small so we had to squeeze in our car (mid-size SUV). The lodge is in the center of town and we had dinner just around the corner (pizza place).

DO NOT BOOK! HOTEL CLOSED FOR MAJOR RENOVATIONS!||We booked a one night stay at Pioneer Lodge months ago for 4/16/25. A few hours before my arrival at the hotel, I checked TripAdvisor and found a concerning post and photos from Arden L warning people about Pioneer Lodge undergoing major construction! (Thank you Arden L for posting that!) Her post prompted me to call the number on my confirmation email from the hotel; I believe this may be a third party since they asked me which hotel I was calling about. They found my information and informed me that an email was sent a few days ago at 2:28pm that my reservation was cancelled because the hotel was undergoing renovations and that the hotel refunded me. The representative wouldn’t tell me the exact date the email was sent but I requested her to resend the email since I was unsuccessful at finding any recent emails from the hotel. Then, we got disconnected. ||I got the re-sent email and I remembered getting the original email (however it wasn’t a few days ago; it was only one day before my arrival!!) and thought it was junk mail. Please see the 2 emails sent by the hotel the day before my arrival and you’ll see why I thought it was junk mail. Due to this hotel’s lack of consideration for guests, poor communication, and confusing last minute email, we ended up frantically rushing to find another hotel on the day of, and paid $200 more per night than what we had intended. Checked my credit card and I do see a pending credit. Fingers crossed that it goes through smoothly.

DO NOT BOOK! This motel is under construction. No one there to help you when you do except a cranky maintenance man! Pictures online misrepresent this establishment. There were even bugs on the beds!

Yelp
We stayed here for a night, and we loved it. The rooms were very clean, decor was awesome, beds were super comfortable. Check in was self service, plenty of parking. Will definitely be staying here again when we come to visit.

Yelp
Avoid at All Costs I booked a stay at Pioneer Lodge through Booking.com, only to arrive at 9 PM after a 6-hour drive and find the hotel completely closed. There were no prior instructions, no help from the phone numbers provided (one ignored voicemails, the other hung up after two rings), and no way to contact anyone. It took an hour of frustration to reach someone, leaving us stranded at 10 PM to find another hotel. Despite our immediate complaints to Booking.com and Pioneer Lodge, the hotel refused any accountability or refund. Booking.com simply deferred to the hotel's refusal. This lack of responsibility and service is unacceptable. Avoid this place entirely--no service, no accountability, no respect for customers. It's outrageous to take money without providing the booked service. I will continue to post this review until they make this right.

Jason L.

Yelp
read the fine print. We booked a room five months in advance and then decided to change our lodging location. The website says free cancellation. However, there is no refund for staying just no cancellation fee. When you try to call the hotel, the phone number is disconnected.

Yelp
The location is great. Unfortunately the space near the room stayed in smelled strongly of sewage. Our bathroom also smelled of sewage. Maybe it was that that made the room not feel clean? The wifi barely worked-- it kept dropping and refusing to load pages. The grab & go breakfast was yogurt, a coffee machine and 1.5 bags of granola for everyone. We figured the breakfast would be helpful so we'd make the price work...clearly not. Next time we'll go back to the Best Western-- or maybe the nice hotels down the road about 15 min.

Maria J.

Yelp
Worst experience ever. Worst $275 spent ever. Stay at the Hampton Inn. It's amazing. Hot tub broke, ice machine, broken, air conditioner, doesn't work, air conditioner sounds like a airplane in your room, front desk should not be in the service business.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Good value. Decent Bagged breakfast included sandwich (didn't eat) apple yogurt and granola (ate the rest). My only complaint was a very loud child on one side of our room. Had to use the white noise in my calm app which fixed the problem.

Amy G.

Yelp
Great location. This hotel, not so great. A very kind lady checked us in as a fire just consumed a large part of the hotel. We were told it was an electrical fire & probably caused by the building being so old. She was not surprised by the fire. We should have left then. The views were beautiful, there were good reviews with great pictures on Yelp, so how bad could it be to stay here. It was bad We came to our room noticing it was out of date yet it seemed clean & orderly. No sooner did I see silverfish and bugs in the bathroom. We understood that can happen anywhere. Then the problems unfolded. The shower dribbled out water, the walls were scrapped up, and the bathroom door could barely open as if off the hinges Next day we noticed the floor has never been cleaned. Reference photo of my socks i wore for less than 30 mins. The air conditioner had one control, high! The soap was tiny, good for 1-2 use. All live-able problems The real problems were how filthy dirty it all was throughout the room. The first clue was the outside floor had coffee spills that were not cleaned the entire week we were there & could have been months old. Inside our room, not only was the floor horribly filthy the coffee pot obviously was not cleaned in who knows how long. The extra towels we asked for had big dirt streak as it was sitting on a dusty surface. The comforter had dirt stains on them that were covered up by green decorative sash. After house keeping came through we found a small dead cockroach on it's back in the middle of the bathroom floor. Hopefully this means they do spray for bugs The ice maker was broken & pool covered I can see this place being sold soon.

Alan B.

Yelp
Nice. Centrally located, clean. Easy walking distance e to food, coffee, ice cream. And Zion park plus the shuttles.

Rachel M.

Yelp
The location of this place was fantastic. Everything else was a disaster. The towels had holes and blood stains, they said the pool was open but it was disgusting and all of the pool chairs were broken or on the verge of tearing (two actually ripped while we were sitting on them and no we're not people who would break chairs). The pillows were very lumpy, as if they were filled with cotton balls. The front desk closes at 10pm so make sure to get there before then or they'll leave the key to your room taped to the window of the lobby without warning. It's really sketchy. The complimentary breakfast was something you put in the microwave. Customer service was also not fantastic - the prices were outrageous for what you get. It was absurd. The ice machine was broken and considering it was 100 degrees outside it is something that should have been made a priority. 0/10 recommend this place until they get their act together.

Yelp
I knew going In that this was one of the cheaper ones on the street. That being said, I did appreciate the flower hanging baskets but management , you need to step up your game. Some of The A/c units are ancient and being held up with sticks and duct tape. Your housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the room clean but the shower drywall above the faucet was crumbling. Tiles were missing on the outside walkway and a guest was skimming the pool. Our a/c broke which was very unfortunate as we had to go to another hotel. The front desk gentleman handled the situation well and we were reimbursed. Management: you need to take some of the money and put it back into your establishment.

Sarah T.

Yelp
This was a very spontaneous trip that I went on with my friends. We got there super late at night, and no one was in the lobby to check in. Luckily they left a paper with our friend's name taped to the window with our room keys and the WiFi password. The room itself was very nice, with a full kitchen and three bedrooms. The beds were supposedly queens but they didn't seem that big. We were able to enjoy our night there, and the beds were comfortable. The only problem I had was the showers in the bathroom had mold. Aside from that, it was a nice place and I'd probably stay here again, but in a different room.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Let's be realistic. Pioneer is a 3-star Hotel, so if you arrive with that in mind, you will not be disappointed! The hotel may not boast 5-star amenities, but it sure is in a FANTASTIC location! It is in the heart of Springdale, just 1-mile from the entrance to Zion National Park/Visitor Center. Our room #218 was on the 2nd floor, with a view of the swimming pool...from our door. There was an issue with the door properly closing, so we had to literally lift it up to latch into the door jam every time we entered. The dead bolt secured after that. A little annoying, but hey, would you rather be in a tent with no shower? We enjoyed a morning walk up to FeelLove Zion for coffee, and had a wonderful encounter with deer grazing along the small hills off of Zion Park Blvd. For dinner, we ate at Pizza & Noodle which is less than 100ft away. So convenient! Even more convenient is the Gift Shop next door. They serve ice cream! Must try the Huckleberry flavor! Linens were clean. Pillows were fluffy. Bed was comfy. Flat screen TV. Large enough table for a laptop. WiFi was decent. Plenty of power outlets. Shower...the water pressure was GREAT! Toilet...it rocked a lil bit. LOL. No funny smells! The only downside is the shared door between the two rooms is thin, so we could hear our neighbors' voices and when their shower was on. I booked the room through Agoda and would not hesitate to return. We have also stayed at Fairfield by Marriott in Virgin and the Zion Canyon Campground. All offered nice accommodations, but the location of Pioneer Lodge brings it to the top of my favorites list if I ever want to stay in a room when in Zion. If you want more affordable options, you'll have to plan wayyy in advance. For us, we didn't book a room until we had shuttle tickets reserved to get to The Narrows at Zion National Park (they release tickets 2 weeks in advance on the 1st and 15th of each month).

Antonio C.

Yelp
B E D B U G S ! The front desk clerk was rude (I believe her name was Julia she had crispy damaged pink hair) Found bed bugs in one of the queen beds and she refused to refund my money I ended up booking an AirBNB and taking my losses I would not recommend staying here we found mold in the shower too

Vamp N.

Yelp
Don't get the handicap room #103 unless you want a view of the dumpster and burned out rooms across the way. Also, you will be by the staircase and everyone will be looking into your room. We tried to change rooms but there was no vacancies. Also, the pool doesn't look appealing and I love me some pool time this time I had to pass.

Melissa A.

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised at how charming this little 3 star motel is! The rooms are so cute and rustic but nothing seemed too old. Everything was clean, the beds were so comfy, shower pressure was surprisingly great, and loved that it comes with a microwave and fridge. The heater works like magic but it is SUPER loud so that got annoying throughout the night. But better than being freezing cold I suppose. Walls are pretty thin and literally for like hour in the middle of the night the people above us sounding like they were moving furniture around. It was so loud and so obnoxious but that's not really the motel's fault. Just very inconsiderate neighbors. Overall though was very happy with our stay especially since it was the cheapest place in town we could find. Would stay here again on our next trip to Zion.

AnnaMarie M.

Yelp
The staff at pioneer lodge went above and beyond to accommodate us when we booked last minute and arrived in the middle of the night! Even though the check in desk was closed at 9pm we were able to get our key and sleep in a cozy clean room when we arrived at 2am because of the thoughtfulness and forward thinking of the staff here. So grateful!

Venessa V.

Yelp
Traveling with my dog on an adventure for one night the price was right Rustic to say the least driving by... but rooms were upgraded nicely surprised large tub for a soak and heat cooling and heating system did the job front desk friendly and accommodating Parking full so surprised how quiet it was.. I enjoyed my stay ! I did not see a restaurant but that would've been nice

Dina F.

Yelp
Been trying to call since our stay in July and no one answers! So sad that a hotel in prime location is being treated so badly. So much potential! We got to the hotel at 7pm. Our key was taped on the window since no one was in to check us in. Our room was next door to the construction site and let me tell you, all the bugs from the site, creeped up in our room. There was at least 15 live cockroaches, 5 dead bugs (did they even clean the room??), and several flies. It was embarrassing! I can't believe I took my hubby here for his bday. It was $200, I though it would be better than the motel. I was very wrong. management, please message me. So we can set up a time to talk. I will give it till the end of the week before I depute the charge with my cc company.

Darren C.

Yelp
This place sucked. The attendant that works the evening shift does not even acknowledge you when you come in. They don't answer their phone. The curtains are see through. The toilet is leaking the whole time. The bath looks haunted. You can hear your neighbors through the wall and ceilings, so don't plan on getting any sleep. They advertise a free continental breakfast; spoiler alert: it's a microwaveable burrito from a value pack at the gas station. Don't come here unless you're out of other options. Literally, sleeping in your car would be more charming than this pile of crap in Utah. And yes all of this is true.

Nohemi T.

Yelp
loved how close it is to zion national park, about a 5 min drive or less to the entrance!! Ophelia was super friendly & welcoming while she helped us check in! easy parking, breakfast bags provided upping request. the rooms were cozy & spacious enough. cannot wait to come back!

Nancie M.

Yelp
Don't understand the bad reviews on this place but rooms are clean parking is somewhat of a challenge. Quiet place adorable inside room with all the amenities one could ask for. Check in was a breeze coffee / hot chocolate at front desk with fire place jacuzzi outside.

debra t.

Yelp
Last minute reservation online. They said there was only 1 room left, but the sink was plugged. They offered us 25% off. We took it, but the room was dirty, the plumber left nasty rags, dirty gloves and a toilet plunger on the counter. Sink was horrifically dirty with drain gunk. The shower caulking was missing or messy. There was no remote for the TV. The coffee was the worst and the top of the pot was missing. Went to the office to get the breakfast. They were out. This room should have Never been rented or put online. Go at your own risk

Prisma O.

Yelp
Hiiiii, I've been trying to call for the past few days with a few questions, is this place open!?? I have a reservation coming up!! Please contact me. Tried all other venues.

Mr L.

Yelp
I stayed here for a week in Dec 2018 to go to the Zion. It was the cheapest rate in town by $30. Great location. Can walk to stuff. Short 5 min drive to the park entrance. The room itself was fine. No complaints there. The front desk staff was great. The breakfast was okay. The parking spaces were my main complaint. They are clearly not wide enough for a normal sized car and if you have a minivan or SUV, you won't be able to get out of your vehicle. I had my car door dented due to the extremely narrow spaces and malice or irresponsibility of the person that parked next to me. T They do have a 50 amp 240v NEMA 14-50 plug in the parking lot if you need to charge an electric car. The voltage fluctuated though, so your charger may not immediately start charging if it senses this fluctuation.

Cori A.

Yelp
Pros: Nice lobby, friendly counter staff, great location! Cons: Roaches, dirty floors, and noise due to thin walls. A dirty floor in a motel that turns your feet black and requires wiping off debris before you get into bed despite having just taken a shower is disturbing. We didn't hike that day or drag in dirt. Other reviewers are talking about the dirty floors too so I know it's not just me.

Rob D.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE I am absolutely appalled by the treatment I received from the manager Julia. We were on our way back from Denver and needed a place to stay the night on our way to California. We called in to make a reservation and within 3 hours called back to cancel since we wouldn't be able to make it that far on our drive. The host was very polite but contacted the manager to issue a refund to which the manager said we'd be charged the full price of the room based on the cancellation policy that we never received because we made the reservation over the phone. After some back and forth, the host said we could call back at 7:30am to speak directly to the manager. The next morning we call at 7:30am and are told Julia doesn't come in until 9am which is clearly on the schedule. Completely unprofessional on behalf of the manager and I'm glad after reading other reviews that we avoided staying here. There are much better options down the road.

Lisa M.

Yelp
I always comment on places I stay. We stayed here last month. With family that came from another state. It has been many years since we stayed before. I was not happy this time. Luckily we only had one night or we would have left. Location: Is great walking distance to shops, eating, and the shuttle. Hotel problems: Our Remote did not work for the TV. The sink leaked on the floor, we had to put a towel to catch the water. The floors were very very dirty, after a shower had to put your shoes on first thing. The toilet ran all night. We shook the handle but still ran. The baseboards were nasty. And the front window had a crack. And the curtain was hanging off the rod. So Historic and old is the key work. There are plenty of other hotels within walking distance of town.

Jason S.

Yelp
I would highly think about NOT staying here. We picked this place based on the location and the positive reviews. Here is how our stay is going; 1. There is blood all over the ground near our room 2. The dresser still has a wash cloth and a clothing tag in it. 3. There was hair on our bed. 4. The bathroom door doesn't close. 5. The bathroom definitely needs some maintance. 6. The microwave doesn't work properly. * Went to front desk and explained to the young gentleman all that of this. He stated it was out of his control but he could call his supervisor. He was very kind. After speaking to his supervisor my two options were A. Move rooms - only room offered was next to Main Street or B. 15% off. Moving to another room that would be loud did not seem much better, so I choose the 15%. 7. This is a "pet friendly" hotel. However, there is no where for the pets to use the restroom. 8. Around 9pm, my spouse went to the ice machine and it was locked saying go to front desk. I attempted to call and no answer. We walked to front desk and there's a sign on the door saying if you need something to call, so I called and was told after hour ice is not available. What? This is a hotel! I was told after 8pm no services are available and the closet place was a 5 minute walk to the store down the road. *This is information the front desk should tell their guests at check in* 9. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything in the other rooms. I'm ending it was 9, in hopes our sleep is okay.

Kennedy S.

Yelp
Very deceiving, horrible service. We came here for 2 nights and after the first 4 hours, we were so tempted to cancel and leave. STRIKE 1: When we checked in, we were excited to dip into the pool. They told us the pool was closed due to covid.... they were the ONLY lodging that had their pool closed, so they lied. We looked at the pool, and it was infested with mosquitoes, like no one had the nerve to clean it, while EVERY single place surrounding them had 0 issues and were up and running nicely. STRIKE 2: The ice machine was broken and empty. STRIKE 3: Upon checkin, we asked for a rolling bed, so everyone could sleep after our long trip. They told us 15 mins. We got it 4 hours later. STRIKE 3: The sink was broken and sprayed water all over the counter AND only ran HOT water. STRIKE 4: The toilet didn't flush correctly. STRIKE 5: The AC appeared to be broken. We set it to 72, and it turned on for 10 mins and shut off. The outside temperature was 87, so we really needed some cool air. We turned it to 68, and it ran for another 10 mins and shut off. It started back up again, but continually stopped throughout the night. The front desk said they didn't know what to do and asked if we wanted to switch rooms, but it would be upstairs, which was hard for us since they don't have elevators. We declined. STRIKE 6: The next day, we went out and expected when we got back, our room would be cleaned and we'd have fresh towels. The room was not touched, and I went to the front desk. They said it was too late bc housekeeping stops cleaning at 1pm. I told him it was 12:15... and they were suppose to clean the room! (so what's your next excuse?) I finally got him to tell housekeeping to come clean our room, and he said it would be 15 mins. (Their previous 15 mins took 4 hours) --and this wasn't any different. I called back 30 mins later, and the front desk actually suggested I hunt down the housekeepers and tell them myself. (Are you kidding??? That's YOUR job!) This trip was for my husband's birthday, and the only nightmare was coming from this place and these kids working the front desk! I really REALLY wished there was an adult or management present. They obviously had 0 idea of what they were doing and their customer service skills were severely lacking. I thought this was going to be a cute little getaway. (The lodging is historic and it sort of resembled a cabin.) I was so wrong. To boot, the walls are PAPER THIN. We heard every conversation and foot step. We ended up leaving and booking accommodations down the street, and we were MUCH MUCH happier.

Najelle J.

Yelp
Pros: LOOKS nice, proximity to the park, and the sweet lady working the front. Cons: Everything else. Holy crap their walls are paper thin. If you plan on getting any sleep at all, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. Maybe it's the room we got because other reviews say it's quiet. We got room 216 and anything and everything that room 215 would do, say, laugh, whisper, breathe, we could hear. Cars outside. Conversations happening downstairs....It didn't help that we had small kids with us, so they couldn't sleep. It is near 12:30 am now and I can still hear them. We called a few times to complain, but there was no answer, so we went down to the Lobby...there was no one to complain to ‍ Drawers wouldn't stay closed and an envelope for tips was left out on the night stand Parking is small and hard to get out of once the lot is full.

Mia L.

Yelp
Friendly office staff, I love how they had breakfast in to-go bags as well as free drinks in the lobby (coffee, tea, and I believe juice?) I took advantage of the hazelnut coffee and it was greatly appreciated! My family & I were in town to support my cousin who ran her half marathon that weekend and this was where we stayed. It was conveniently close to one of the free shuttle stations and the rooms themselves were nice and warm, cozy, and decently sound proofed. We heard our upstairs neighbors stomping about a bit during the night, but a quick fix was turning up our TV volume. Would definitely recommend staying here again! :)

Patti W.

Yelp
Pros: Location and the nice lady that checked us in. Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE! When I booked the room it said queen with Mountain View's. We were put on the bottom floor with absolutely no view. The area around the door was so dirty with leaves and debris. When we walked in we noticed that the room was incredibly dirty, there were small stains on the sheets and one of the pillow cases. I also found hair in multiple places, including in the fridge! There was a spider in the shower (okay that can be "Normal" in the dessert, no biggie) The remote had visible dirt and grime on it as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. The area around the microwave was so dirty and had nails sticking out of the wood. To top it off, I woke up to a roach in the bathroom! Needless to say, we checked out early and cut our visit short. With the Corona Virus still around, they should be making sure that the rooms are extra clean to make guests feel safe and you can tell that they do not clean well at all! Do yourself a solid and stay somewhere else.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Wowzers i read the reviews on here and i can say our stay was nothing like it. Our room was clean and the walls were pretty thick cause i didn't hear anything, the lady in the front desk was super sweet. Overall it was a amazing experience for us. The only thing i can say is parking lot is a tad bit small but everything else was great.

Shannon B.

Yelp
We had a nice little getaway to Zion, Utah this weekend. We rented a room at The Historic Pioneer lodge which was about 5 minutes from the Zion State Park entrance. The room was fantastic. King bed with jet tub big enough for 2!!!! We definitely enjoyed the tub...so relaxing. The room had a small fridge, coffee maker, microwave and a few dishes and silverware. The room was quiet and clean. The customer service was fantastic. Julia was a huge help!!! We will definitely be back! We very much enjoyed ourselves

Alyssa D.

Yelp
This was a great last minute booking. The room was very reasonable in price. When we arrived the lobby was closed but our check in and key were taped to the door ready for our arrival. Everything was very convenient . The room was rustically decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Everything you need and more. Room had a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Two thumbs up

Anna D.

Yelp
No one answers the phone at this place. Tried messaging through booking.com (where I made the reservation) and calling the property numerous times before my stay to follow up on my reservation because it was very last minute and I needed a first floor room and wanted to confirm per policy. Got there and the lobby was closed, had to call phone number posted on the door and this woman said she was 10 minutes away and I'd need to wait did her to come back (so no one stays at the property at night) which I did so she eventually let us in. No explanation for why they don't answer their business phone number posted online. Now that I've checked out, same problem , I've called and messaged numerous times to get a receipt or invoice from my stay and can't get a hold of anyone it's been a nightmare. I had to call booking.com twice and finally they were able to get ahold of the hotel for me

Yelp
So the Pioneer Lodge is listed as a "Historic" Lodge. Maybe there was a lodge here at some point, but there's nothing historic about this place. Not really. Let's start with the good. The location is awesome and extremely convenient. One can walk to everywhere in town and it's still a short hike to Zion National Park. The room was clean and the front desk service was fine. The room has a fridge and a microwave which was a boon. The bad: the bath surround is cheap plastic. The tilework was done by a myopic, one-armed, chimpanzee. The room is somewhat dark. The people upstairs were either having extremely violent sex for hours or they were trying to reposition the bed all night. On the whole, I can highly recommend this place if you plan on visiting Zion - it's just a place to crash.

Yelp
The location is perfect, so close to the park. The check in process was really fast. Was given a parking permit for the car. Got a double queen beds room. The room was nice, I loved the decoration, felt like I was in a cabin. I loved the privacy wall that separated the beds to the sink and bathroom. The room was overall clean and the bathroom was clean. The bed comforter had a few old stains on it. The bed was comfortable and also the pillows. The door had a trick to locking it but it wasn't too bad. Breakfast was giving in lunch bags. I liked this hotel. I'd definitely recommended it.

Yelp
Booked a room here for 2 nights through airbnb. The woman who checked us in was very nice and answered all of our questions. We had a room on the second floor - there is no elevator. Upon walking in, I was happy to see that the room was nice and clean. It was perfect for what we needed. Continental breakfast was VERY basic - cereal, muffins, bread, eggs & sausage, etc. but it got the job done. Hot tub was working one night but then the next night was out of service. We filled our waterbottles using a cooler that was in the lobby. Lobby also had coffee available all the time. I think for the price this is a great option.

Yelp
Definitely not even close to the pictures they show. I know for a fact that the floors weren't clean, I was wearing my with socks and it almost seem that they never mop the floors, I saw two cockroaches in the bathroom, wifi never worked, bedding was a little dusty. Not enough lights by the room entrance (outside). Will not consider this place again.

Yelp
We waited a bit too long to book lodging for our week in Zion, and this hotel was one of the only remaining dog-friendly hotels available. I can see why. My first impression was that the room could definitely be cleaner. When we walked in, there was a dirty rag still on the countertop in the kitchen/bathroom area, as if someone had abandoned cleaning. The mini fridge contained residue and hair, and the toilet seat also wasn't clean when we arrived. The microwave was especially filthy. It's a good thing I had Clorox wipes with me anyway, because I basically had to do all the cleaning of those areas myself. The floor was also filthy. I put on clean socks when we got settled into our room, and after only a few minutes the bottom of my socks were completely blackened. Clearly, they do not clean the floors. The beds appeared freshly made but honestly I can't be sure whether anything else had been cleaned between occupants. The faucet for the sink in our room sprayed water uncontrollably in a million different directions instead of straight down, ensuring that we got wet every single time we used it. The pool was filthy. Not just with floating bugs and plant debris on top, but also with caked-on residue and growth on the bottom of the pool. I had to use the skimmer myself to remove what appeared to be used paper towels or baby wipes floating inside, but there was no way I could get it even near clean enough to get in. It looks like no one has ever cleaned it, and it needs professional help. On top of that, the pool water was ice cold and the hot tub broken. "Dog-friendly" is a bit of an overstatement for this place. It's more accurately categorized as "dog-tolerant." There's no lawn or any other good place on the property to walk your pet or allow them to relieve themselves comfortably. In addition, I found the staff here to be quite rude at some times. We were 3 adults sharing a 2-queens room, and (as one would expect for the area) doing a lot of hiking and other outdoor activities. So a few times we needed to refresh the towels, toilet paper, etc. One single time our request was fulfilled promptly and politely, but the rest of the times we needed something, we were spoken to rudely and provided with less than what we asked for. I would not stay here again, and next time I visit the area I'll be sure to book early in a nicer hotel.

Yelp
We booked our hotel stay at the Pioneer Lodge through www.priceline.com for a great deal! Our hotel stay was for one night on November 23, 2016. When we arrived, we were greeted by the lady at the receptionist desk. After checking in, we enjoyed the free drinks at the lobby, one of our favorite amenities of this place. We stayed in a comfortable room with two clean beds, a nice kitchenette, and a clean restroom. Our Wi-Fi service worked fine during our entire stay. One reason why I am giving this hotel a four star rating is because a part of the bed frame was sticking out of my bed, and I accidentally struck my shin against it several times. Ouch! I did report this safety issue to the front desk when we checked out on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2016. I hope they fixed it by now. Another reason why this hotel gets a four out of five stars rating is because the staircase is chipping away with age and has not been repaired and replaced. Other than those issues, we enjoyed our stay over here, and it was a great value for our money! Thank you for the comfortable and affordable accommodations, Pioneer Lodge!

Yelp
Location location! Little town before hitting the national park entrance. Close to the shuttle/busses that take you into the national park. Was clean but the jacuzzi in our room started to spit out some black debris so stopped using it. Walls are thin.

Yelp
Wanted to try a lodge outside of the national park for once. Staff at this location are very rude you can tell they don't like their work environment by the way they treat their guests, especially the woman at the front in glasses. Room was ok

Yelp
Overall I had a really good experience here and would recommend it. I booked Pioneer for two nights using Hotwire, not knowing what hotel I was getting, and when I read some of the online reviews I started to panic. However, it was totally charming, and our room was very comfortable and totally clean (and I am a person with a high standard for cleanliness). Check in was smooth and fast. Some people have complained about the parking being challenging, but we had a small car and had no issues (some spaces would be tight for a large vehicle). The one star off is really because the breakfast is pretty lackluster. I never count on a hotel breakfast, but this was especially sad. The only other drawback I can see is that because the building is a little old (ahem, historic!) the rooms aren't super soundproof so when some guests were talking loudly outside our room, I could hear them because I had the bed closest to the door. Other than that, if you can get a good rate for this place I wouldn't hesitate!

Yelp
It amazes me that so many people gave this DUMP of a hotel excellent reviews. This place is a total wreck from the get go. Place is run down, the rooms are old and almost everything doesn't work right. To deadbolt the door to the room, I had to LIFT the door to get the bolt into the frame. The toilet wasn't properly bolted to the floor and rocked back and forth. The sink was dripping and very hard to turn off. The parking lot is a JOKE. Very small spaces so if you have a larger vehicle, like an SUV, good luck squeezing it into a space. We also had BUGS in the room and shower. This hotel had a fire about 5-6 weeks ago and their ice machine was destroyed, but the ONLY other ice machine was broken. The staff had to get ice from the gas station and put it in an igloo to dish out to people. The rooms across the parking lot were destroyed by fire so about 1/3 of the tiny parking lot was off bounds. The rooms were dirty and where we stayed in the back, was noisy. The smell from the trash cans were disgusting. DO NOT STAY in this rat trap. A tent in the park would be better

Yelp
Where do I start? Cockroaches? A/C that cuts off at 70, when it feels like working at all? Broken outside window? Rotted floor in the bathroom? Horrible wifi? We didn't even feel that it was clean enough to use the shower. I mean, if you need any other reason to not stay here just know that this place also charges a premium price like other local and much better lodging. We could have stayed at the lodge inside Zion for what we paid for this place. Hindsight is indeed 20/20 and well, lesson learned.

Yelp
21/100 yelp challenge * Price: average $120-159 per night. Not cheap but not many options in the area. 3 star. * Accommodation: clean room, in-room fridge, microwave, coffee maker, flat screen TV. Free WiFi but does not work. There is small pool and jaccuzi in the back but water is cold and not well maintained. * location: convenience , very close to park entrance about 10 minute walk. You can also catch the springdale ahuttle to the park visitor center. There is many close by stores, restaurants, etc.4 star. * Motif: they need major help from Anthony Mechiorri of Hotel Impossible. This place has a great potential! 2 star. * service; everyone is very polite and nice from checking staff to house keeping. 4 star. This is averaged to 3 star. We were booking at the last minute for one night in Zion and found this place via priceline. The room is clean and their bed is comfy. We saw some other reviewers complaining about noise from outside. We did hear some car door closing in the morning but it was not impossible to sleep. All rooms are facing the parking, so you can leave your window opened here. The pool is small, cold water, clean but need some up do. The pool entrance is crowded with supplies, broken beds! Their Pioneer restaurant is closed! However, there are may restaurants and shops right next door. Overal, it is a decent place to stay for one night but if you are looking to stay for a vacation, you may get disappointed! We went to Baby Sumo restaurant for dinner which was pretty satisfied, rent hiking heads for the Narrows from Zion Guru next door ($58 for 2 pair of hiking boots, neoprene socks, walking sticks and 1 dry bag), sandwich for the hike from the gift store.

Yelp
Maybe we just hit them on a bad week, but unlikely based on the reviews. We arrived on Saturday, after they had had a fire on Monday. Desk clerk seemed to be more annoyed than happy to see us. We got there about 12:00, asked if there was any chance to check in early. Reply was a curt "no checkins before 3" I do understand that often many rooms are not ready, but to have a blanket no early checkins is not exactly tsp in customer service. Room itself was clean enough, but tiles in bathroom walls were very uneven and sink had a missing aerator and very difficult to control, so risk of getting sprayed own was high unless turned it on VERY carefully. Ice machine was out fo order Pool seemed to be locked, although a sign near the front indicated that pool was available at your own risk (COVID and all that) Breakfast was an uninspired saga croissant, yogurt cub piece of fruit and a small it fo granola for the yogurt It is a great location, convenient to the main drag in Springdale and Zion, and the other desk clerk was very friendly and helpful Note that with the fire, the restaurant and about half of the restaurant was taped off, although they were hoping to get the all clear to reopen parts that weren't directly impacted.
