The historic central street of Funchal is bustling with restaurants. It’s a great place for dinner, wine, or an evening snack. However, most eateries close by 10–11 pm, which might feel early for a city centre. So plan your last orders in advance. For authentic local cuisine, consider going slightly outside the center. The central area is perfect for strolling, snacks, and a glass of wine.

Being on the island for the day and in need of a hair cut. Found these guys and Fabrizio Izzi the barber that attended to my needs. What an awesome barbers shop, friendly, courteous and great detail to attention. I have to say this was one of the best hair cuts ever. Well done and 5 stars from me.

Great experience walking in and out. Lively crowd some live music and people sitting and eating in the street. Walk past painted doors and wall graffiti.

The old city and it full of restaurants and cafes. Nice to have a walk around it all n the day and at night.

A very historical area of old town, with a great story of restoration efforts through artwork. Many shops and restaurants are located here and their tables are located outside in the midst of all the foot traffic. The walkway is small, quite crowded and can be a challenge to get through waiters, walkers, eaters, cars, (yes, cars) but all the aromas from the restaurants make it so worth it. A must do if you're in Funchal.

A beautiful part of the city with streets full of street art. We took the Bolt from the Cristo Rei back to the Funchal (electric car around 10€) and we went through the area. There are lot of graffiti and painted walls of the local restaurants.

Great place to wander around and enjoy the downtown vibe of Funchal. Lots of coffee and food choices to choose from along with a an historical and old city flavor. A very walkable city (but there are plenty of cabs available).

A wonderful place to wander, stopping for coffee and pastry. One of the most pleasant afternoons of my trip
