Zoo Antwerpen

Honestly such a brilliant day at Zoo Antwerp. The whole place is beautiful and really well looked after. What surprised us most was how many animals were actually out active. So many came really close, and we got hundreds of photos and videos. It was also really sweet seeing lots of the animals in pairs, especially with Valentine’s coming up, it just felt wholesome watching them together...the elephants are so playful.

We visited Antwerp Zoo in February and had a really great experience. It’s a beautiful, well-maintained zoo with a nice mix of historic architecture and modern enclosures. It took us about 2.5 hours to walk through at a relaxed pace, which felt just right — not overwhelming, but still plenty to see. It’s a bit pricey for the low season, especially in February, but honestly, it was worth it. The animals looked well cared for, the layout is easy to navigate, and the whole place feels clean and organized. Overall, I’d definitely recommend visiting, even in winter. A very nice zoo and a pleasant way to spend a few hours in Antwerp.

Antwerp Zoo is a fantastic place to visit. It's incredibly well-organised, making it easy to navigate and see all the animals in a logical order. The location is unbeatable, right next to the train station, making it easily accessible. I was impressed by the healthy and happy animals, and their clean and spacious enclosures. The zoo can be explored in a leisurely 2-3 hours, making it a great day out for families, couples, or solo visitors. Overall, Antwerp Zoo is a must-visit attraction in Antwerp!

We had a great day here! We went in the day time to see the animals, though a load was under construction unfortunately. We also went at night to the magic ocean event, which was amazing!! Pricey, but very very well done. Enjoy the many photos I took! :)

​Zoo Antwerpen is an amazing experience that feels very natural, and its location directly next to the Central Station makes it incredibly easy to locate with a map. I found it better to buy tickets onsite, where I paid about 34 euros, but keep in mind the student discount is only available for those below 25. There is a great variety of animals to see, including lions, elephants, chimpanzees, baboons, zebras, and many different birds. I highly advise getting there in the morning so you have time for a double tour; since there are 26 different sites to visit, it takes at least an hour just to get from the first to the last. It was a fantastic visit and highly recommended.

Excellent zoo in the heart of the city. It is easily accessible since it is located right next to the Central Station. You can spend half a day walking through the animal park. There are several food stops and 2 restaurants where you can sit properly to eat a full meal. There are enough lavatories throughout the zoo in case you are visiting with children. The souvenir shop is at the entrace and is also where you can purchase your tickets.

This zoo looks very nice, animals have a lot of space for a zoo in the city center. It is a great place to spend a day in nature in the city as the zoo looks like a big garden. You can see koalas!

We had such a great time at this zoo! At first, I thought it would be just another boring zoo, but it turned out to be a really fun experience. We loved seeing all the different animals and fish, and the park itself is very clean and well maintained. It also made for a lovely date with my husband. I’d definitely recommend this place as a date spot.

A definite while in Antwerp!, the zoo has very clean and botanical garden feel! Big fan!

What a wonderful zoo! The exhibits are numbered, making for an easy walk through the zoo! The monkey house and the lions den are particular high lights for us. The reptile house is also a lot of fun, and really enjoy how different animals share a habitat together. Also love the various play areas they have for children around too. Highly recommended especially if you have children!

A pretty standard (but a little dated) zoo. Has all the greatest hits. Grounds are well maintained and clean. Animals seem well cared for, but the exhibits are old school zoo style (focused more on visibility than animal well being.). Nothing incredibly memorable about experience, except maybe it's central location. Understanding zoos cost a lot to run, entry fees are on high side even compared to world class zoos (which this is not). Unless you are a huge zoo fan, probably can pass on this one.

This zoo is beautiful. We got the annual membership last year and have visitors three times already, even though it's about an hour and a half way from us. There's a parking garage just a few blocks away and you can get your ticket validated at the zoo so that you pay less money. The zoo is right next to the Central Train Station, which is beautiful as well. You can take a train depending on your city for more convenience if you prefer not to drive.

I don't know. Going and visiting a zoo in a foreign city, especially a city on the other side of the world, doesn't seem to be as fantastic as visiting a zoo somewhere in Australia. Maybe it has something to do with there being a lot more things to do in European cities, or rather that their zoos are designed more for the locals than they are for the tourists. Anyway, the Antwerp Zoo isn't all that bad, and they helpfully provide a route for you to follow so as to see all of the animals. The problem I had was that when it rained there wasn't much in the way of shelter. However, the zoo itself was reasonably large and had a pretty impressive collection of animals. One of the odd things though was seeing a kangaroo so far from home.

This zoo prides its self on being one of the oldest in the entire world. Being so old means cool looking buildings and architecture, which they had plenty of. I came here in the later afternoon towards closing time during the week and it didn't seem that busy. At 26 Euros, I found the admission to be a bit pricey in my opinion, especially for such a small zoo. The entire park can easily be walked through in about an hour or two. They have plenty of exhibits with lots of different animals including marine animals and insects (they had an amazing indoor butterfly garden). The animals here seemed a bit off and lazy, maybe because it was a warm day for Antwerp at the time. The underwater exhibits were pretty cool, I loved their large tank of fish. Unfortunately I didn't get much time here because my train was leaving very soon, but the good news is that this place is literally right outside central station. This is a great place for animal lovers and kids but still a bit pricey.

This is a great zoo, no wonder it has international recognition. For start it is quite large. The food is really good. There is a very large selection of animals to look at such as big cats, great apes, elephants, gifaffes, penguins, fish creatures.. The amount of animal diversity here is quote impressive and the zoo is also very well designed. I had lots of fun here, absolutely recommended.

Supposedly this is the second oldest zoo in the world. I haven't done the research to verify this, but I could believe it (the buildings are pretty old). I went in March and it was pretty chilly so most of the animals were inside, not a pretty scene. Actually, quiet a depressing scene (hence the three stars). The cage the poor elephants were shoved into were way too small and the giraffes were suck in the same situation, but I guess that's what you get with a city zoo. Other than that, the rest of the exhibits were awesome. So many different types of owls and other birds, I loved it! The gorillas were the usual big, terrifyingly cute animal they are in every other zoo out there lol all in all this zoo is like any other zoo you've been too, it's just a lot older. But everything in this area is a lot older. Make sure you stop by the train station next door! That's a sight you must see!

As a 19th-century zoo, now remodelled so as not to be jerks to animals, this is the classic, kids'-book kind of zoo I've never got to visit before. I was continually swarmed by children on a couple of school trips, but that only added to the experience. Not ideal for wanting to learn an enormous amount, but certainly great for seeing animals in spacious and apparently comfortable spaces. I spent 2.5 hours here alone and had a great time.

The Zoo is located in the city center and is one of the largest and oldest Zoo's in the world. Above and beyond the exotic wildlife, the 19th century architecture is a stunning highlight as well.
