7 quirky themed cafes in Taipei you have to visit - SilverKris

"Designed with leafy plants and a safari-themed interior—complete with quirky mismatched furnishings and animal murals—this café offers a calm, nature-like escape in the city. The menu focuses on familiar brunch favourites such as mushroom omelettes, smoked salmon, honey toast and waffles, and the venue is pet-friendly, allowing diners to enjoy their meals in the company of dogs and cats." - Joy Fang

Definitely book a week in advance! This place is super popular and super busy, people without reservation will get turned away. I was lucky to be able to secure a reservation and it landed on my birthday so I was super happy, although email replies can take a while. You que outside and then at your designated time you are shown inside to your table. Once you are at your table you are given menus to browse and they come around to take your order, once this is done they rotate around 5 animals to your table in total, the staff give you a brief talk on each animal and how to safely interact with them. I had a pomegranate lemonade and my husband had the rafffaello hot chocolate and we was pleasantly suprised how nice they were, we would recommend both. We did not have food so cannot comment on that. Staff seemed stressed and not the happiest/ warmest of people. My favourite animal was the chameleon, I would of liked to hold the tarantula but on this occasion it wasn't out for handling. Antibacterial gels are placed on the tables.

This place was such a good experience, I had the best time. Very punctual we made our reservation and we were taken to our table, our server was the best they introduced all of the animals and how to take care of each of them while the animals were on our table. The cutest animals and they are so well taken care of. The food was also super great definitely recommend the hot chocolates! Thank you for the great experience!!

Great atmosphere, the animals are very cute and calm (except Smokey, she is a full time job). The staff that was in charge of our table was so nice and made jokes all the time and explained the animals and their story to us in such an interesting way that we fell in love with all the little guests at our table. Only negative thing was that it was so too short.

What a unique and fun experience in the heart of Budapest! Make sure to email them from the email on their website ahead to get a reservation and show up ON TIME! They do respond quickly by email. Make sure to plan at least a few days ahead or more by emailing them. Such cute animals. 🐇🐍I’m glad that they have rules and really take care of them too. Good coffee and sacher cake too! 😊

This cafe is so cool! We booked a few weeks prior to going and it was easy enough. The food and drinks were very nice and the staff were all friendly. They brought round different animals to the tables and explained how to handle them properly. They had hand sanitizer at each table and even though the tortoise pooed on the table they quickly cleaned it up. 😂 For the last 20 mins of the booking we were allowed to look around at all the other animals. I had the best time and would definitely recommend it.

Nice experience! You MUST book a table by email 2-3 days before your visit. You will be able to see and pet iguana, snake, turtle, rabbits and some lovely cats! Prices are normal, not expensive and we could stay for 1,5 hours due to many bookings

It was easy to book via email from their website. They are very firm on arrival times, I waited outside until the exact time but many people tried to go in early but were told to go back outside (they clearly didn’t read the email with instructions) Menu was very basic but I enjoyed what I had. I wish I had time to actually eat before the animals were brought over as it was very awkward as the animals kept going for the food. The reptile animals seemed okay but the bunny and cats there seemed overwhelmed. Overall I enjoyed my visit but wouldn’t say it’s a “must do experience”.

Zoo Café is one of the most unique and memorable places to visit in Budapest. It’s a cozy café filled with animals, including exotic ones, creating an experience that’s both fun and relaxing. From the moment you walk in, you're surrounded by a variety of friendly creatures, making it a perfect spot for animal lovers of all ages. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They walk around the café with different animals, allowing guests to interact with them while enjoying their food and drinks. During our visit, we had breakfast with a chameleon, a parrot, and even a small snake. The animals are well cared for, and the environment is clean and respectful. Each visit is limited to one and a half hours, which is just the right amount of time to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. Considering what you get, the prices are very fair. We paid around 13 euros each for a toast, iced tea, and a cappuccino, which is great value given the setting. Zoo Café offers something truly different from the usual café stop. It’s not just about the food, but about the chance to be up close with animals in a calm, welcoming space. A five-star experience that’s absolutely worth trying. Needs to be booked!!
