Zoo Taiping & Night Safari

To reach the zoo, which is located about 1km from the town centre, you get to travel through the beautifully scenic Lake Gardens, surrounded by mist-covered mountains. It was such a refreshing and peaceful way to start the day. The staff at the ticket counter were very friendly, and the entrance fee was only RM16. I visited during the daytime, but it’s good to know that there is also a night safari option available. Once inside, I was informed that there is a free tram service available for visitors. However, I decided to explore the zoo on foot. It was definitely tiring, but the views along the way were absolutely beautiful, making the walk very enjoyable and worth the effort. Walking around allowed me to take my time and truly appreciate the zoo. I managed to see a wide variety of animals, and the zoo itself is beautifully landscaped. I was happy to see that the animal enclosures were well designed to resemble their natural habitats, which shows that the zoo takes animal welfare seriously. Zoo Taiping offers an impressive range of animals from native Malaysian species to well-known African wildlife, as well as popular favourites like chimpanzees, orangutans, tigers, and elephants. Overall, I had a great time here, and despite the walking and tired feet, the experience was very satisfying. Considering the beautiful location and affordable price, there’s really nothing not to love about Zoo Taiping.. 🐘☘️🐅🫶🏻

The lady at the ticket counter was really friendly. It cost only RM16 (£2.93). Note, I went during the day; there's also a night safari. Upon entering I was told I can take a free tram ride which travels round the zoo. As it was raining and my feet hurt I chose this option. Just wish to say, the guys working the trams were really friendly and nice to me! As it wasn't busy I had to wait about 20 mins for the tram. It was worth the wait as the tram ride was very comfortable, the driver gave good commentary and it saved a lot of walking. I saw a lot of animals. The zoo is beautifully landscaped and I was relieved the animal habitats were well constructed to imitate their natural homes. The zoo seems to take animal welfare seriously. There's a really good range of animals here: from Malaysian natives to Africa's famous fauna, to the usual favourites, like chimps, orangutans, tigers to elephants. I had a great time here and considering the location and price what's not to love.

The zoo is beautiful and incredibly spacious, set on a massive 36-acre site with a natural lake and streams running through it. Instead of feeling like concrete enclosures, the animal exhibits are designed to mimic their natural habitats, nestled within lush rainforests and greenery. It feels more like a walk through a beautiful nature park where you just happen to encounter amazing wildlife. We saw a various array of animals, from the majestic Malayan tigers and powerful African lions to graceful giraffes and playful orangutans. The "Elephants of the Perak River" exhibit was a particular highlight! The sheer variety of both local and international wildlife is impressive. But the absolute must-do is the Night Safari! It was a magical experience to see nocturnal animals like hyenas and owls become so active under the special "moonlight" lighting. The sounds of the jungle at night were unforgettable. A word of advice: the place is big, so make use of the free tram service or rent a buggy. We spent a full day here and loved every minute. Highly recommended for families, couples, and anyone who appreciates nature and wildlife in a beautiful, well-maintained setting!

Good place to visit. Can spend about 3 hours. Lots of animals, up close and personal. For those that do not want to walk , just hop on the free tram that will bring you the zoo plus commentary from the tram drivers. For those who wanted up close to the animals, I suggest you can take a slow stroll around the zoo. Animals are well kept. Excellent adventure!

Visited night safari, didn't expect this could be one of my best recommended places to visit at Taiping. The whole experience was good, we got a ride to see animals and managed to walk around to pictures animals. There are many unique animals that you might be able to see in other zoo. Really worth visiting and value for money!!

Visited Zoo Taiping (not Night Safari). Liked it. Important: bring cash if you’re a tourist. They don’t accept Visa/Mastercard. Only cash and local QR. I somehow managed to pay with GrabPay. Zoo is great: clean, well maintained, impressive. Even beyond the animals, the surrounding nature is very beautiful.

A lovely zoo, possibly the nicest one in Malaysia with an entry fee or Rm16 for adults and Rm8 for children/seniors. They host a wide range of animals from lions, tigers to snakes, crocodiles and the African and Australian wildlife. There is also a free tram ride around the zoo and it gives you a highlight of the zoo so you can decide which ones you want to go back and see again. Our tram rider, Mr Vincent, was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide, explaining the animals in great detail. Would recommend a visit to anyone visiting Taiping and passing by!

How to spent your day in Taiping if you are here for a day trip? We choose to visit the Zoo Taiping! This is the first time we visit this place. We reach there around 1 p.m. and surprisingly less crowd here. I think it's because of the sunny day in the afternoon. Is just like we have booked for the entire zoo and walked like a VIP visit. Unfortunately, we have already missed out the animals feeding time upon our arrival. The zoo keeper usually feed the animal in the morning between 10am to 12pm. I should have come earlier! In the zoo, they provide a mini train services that will drive you from one stop to another stop to make convenient for all the visitors. The mini train is free of charge. All the services and facilities here is well provided but one thing that doesn't really satisfied me was the activity. You are here just to visit animals, that's it. They have all the common animals here just that the numbers are less.

Everytime I go up to Taipeng, I will never fail to pay a visit to the Taipeng Zoo. There's just something about a zoo that brings out your inner child and makes you run around like a kid again. Even after many visits this place still manages to get the same reactions from me; awe and amazement. The Taipeng Zoo in my opinion, is much more accessible than our Zoo Negara. Partly because Taipeng is a small town and it is conveniently located within their park, Taipeng Lake Gardens. If I am going for the day, I like to go there early at around 8.30 to 9.30 in the morning cause that is when the animals are most active. If you're lucky, the animals minders will be out and about feeding the animals. That is a real show by itself. On one occasion we had the opportunity to see the hippopotamus being fed and it was so cute how they knew when he was coming and they would immediately go over to the corner and open their mouths. Then the minder would drop the food right into their mouths one by one. You don't get sights like this everyday. I've been to the night safari as well but I honestly have to say it isn't as rewarding as the day zoo. You do get to see a lot of nocturnal animals being active but the the enthusiasm just isn't the same as when you're around in the day. And it is also slightly more expensive.
