5 great museums that kids and the young-at-heart will love - SilverKris

"An arts-oriented museum for children up to age 14 where youngsters collaborate with visual artists to explore artistic techniques and participate in an animated film studio as screenwriters, directors, cinematographers, photographers and sound engineers. Other key areas cover history (including life in the Middle Ages), the ocean and science, and the museum emphasizes learning through play to stimulate motor skills and cognitive abilities in the youngest visitors while engaging the curiosity of older children and adults. Established in 1994, it was Austria’s first museum specifically catering to children." - SilverKris

This was amazing for the kids, interactive and got to take there work home! My wife and I may have had a bit more fun than the kids. Unfortunately the other rooms was full for weeks ahead.

There are themes that change perhaps a few months. It was art when I was there. Its a good place to let the kids play on their own for about an hour. And the parents get to rest or join in. Quite refreshing especially after a long day of visiting sites. Although I am not too sure as to why it is called a museum as there were no objects of historical, scientific or artistic interest being kept there. Its more a play and exploration space. Facilitators are friendly and speak english. Good place for parents to take a break. Very child friendly.

A fun place for kids to visit but gets very busy / booked out during the holiday seasons. Early bookings essential.

Everyone was extremely friendly and kind. My children (6 and 10) both had an amazing experience and enjoyed themselves. They loved the crafts and being able to run around to the various play areas. It was also very clean and they had lockers for us to store our things

We did the Ocean and really enjoyed exploring it. You get an hour and we were lucky to get a ticket on the spot (the only available left). I was impressed by the... toilets! The outside area has funhouse mirrors in the ladies toilet, the Ocean area has toddler toilets and sinks! The yellow yoke over the sink is actually a soap!

Brilliant museum! Plan your visit ahead and book the studio session (and of course the ocean visit), you won’t regret it :) We had lots of fun!

The play area and different activities in the "ocean" are well designed and clean. You only get a "1h time slot" to use it though. During our visit the employee who opens the area came 5 min late and after 45 min we were told to come down and get out again. With the waiting times until everybody gets in and is seated, and in the end gathers downstairs to get out it was maximum 40 min of actual playtime. There should also be a limit for adults per child, as in our case there were seemingly more adults than kids (e.g. 1 toddler had 3 accompanying adults)

Yelp
OUTSTANDING is all i can really say. This museum is just so great and really well done and organised with the most wonderful staff that children could want. My FIVE STAR rating should say it all.

Yelp
This museum is fully hands-on with activity hosts who deliver well-designed programming in German and English. The facility is bright, clean and of exceptional interior and museum design. Adults are welcome (and encouraged) to accompany children into the thematic exhibitions. Reservations, which can be made online, are essential. Arts and crafts sessions tend to book to capacity before the nature and science modules. Zoom is a splendid way for all ages to spend a morning or afternoon.
