I hadn't been to Zorbas in over 4 years, but everybody deserves a second chance, don't they? The boyfriend suggested a trip here to grab a quick lunch and after consulting the recent Yelp reviews from people I trust (Chris D is THE MAN and PatrickJ T is my BOY) I agreed.
First observation is that the drive through was backed up out onto the street! There are a lot of people who like to eat lunch here. Inside, the floor is FILTHY but to be fair they don't serve the food on the floor, they serve it on the tables which appear to be spotless.
We line up to order and pay; the boyfriend orders a hamburger with fried mushrooms and I order a Zorba Bacon Burger and french fries. The boyfriend points to a sign just to our left that states that they take Visa, Mastercard, and American Express and grins. He LOVES finding places he can use his AE. AFTER he pays, I notice a small handwritten sign that states they charge your card an extra 3% for using your card. Now he has stopped smiling. He wishes he'd known that before he paid; He's not so happy but we find a booth and sit down. The food comes on real plastic plates, not the disposable kind. Now I am smiling because they're environmentally conscious. Woot woot.
Boyfriend says his hamburger is good. Mine is excellent. The Zorba burger comes with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and thick slices of fresh avocado. It was quite good and my fries were good, too. Unfortunately, neither of us liked the fried mushrooms and left half of them on the plate.
The people who work there are very friendly and quick to smile. I like that. The lady who took my order explained what was involved in different burgers and was a pleasure to interact with. Another worker wandered through the restaurant tidying up and chatting with people.
This visit was a definite improvement over the last. I would be willing to give them yet another try. Who knows, maybe they''ll earn another star.
