This is a solid choice if you're hankering for some Mediterranean and don't want to break the bank. Zorba's has a family-owned, casual diner feel, perfect if you're looking for a no frills kind of meal. And honestly, this place doesn't need frills, the food speaks for itself.
I just moved to the neighborhood and have been looking new spots to add to the rotation. Definitely made the right choice. Came here on a weeknight with friend, and I initially wanted to dine al fresco on the tables outside, but it was bit chilly so we sat indoors. The waitress/host was so pleasant and friendly as she took our orders -- exactly what you expect from this type of mom and pop establishment.
Before I get to the food, I need to mention that beers here are DIRT CHEAP - $3.50 for domestics and $4.00 for imports. I can't remember the last time I spent less than $5 for a beer at a restaurant. Made me question if I really was in NYC... Anyway, my friend and I decided to split a small greek salad to start, and then go halfsies with the gyro pita and souvlaki pita. The greek salad was on point - very fresh veggies, perfectly dressed, and quality feta on top. As for the pitas, both we're equally tasty. The gyro meat was juicy and well-seasoned, while the souvlaki was tender and really flavorful. The pita bread was okay, maybe just a tad dried out. Overall, the sandwiches totally hit the spot.
The final bill for the two of us came out to $30. I mean c'mon...just $15/person for a beer and that amount of delicious food? I'll take that 8 days a week.
