Zula Restaurant & Wine Bar

I thought it was unusual that the highlights of the menu seemed to be mussel bowls and flatbreads, but now I can’t imagine a more suitable pair. The food here is delicious and beautiful and interesting. It’s a clean atmosphere with superb service. The beet salad is so gorgeous we almost didn’t eat it (we did, and it was worth wrecking its visual appeal). The Vietnamese pho mussels were a delight, and the tomato flatbread was tasty without being too greasy or heavy. A great spot if you’re in the neighborhood with a varied but focused menu and a great beer/wine selection.

The restaurant is right across the street from the Washington Park garage. Easy access from freeways if you are coming from the suburbs. We had the mussels in Thai sauce, the Spanish flatbread, and salted caramel creme brulee. The mussels and the Thai sauce were outstanding. I could eat those everyday. The flatbread was also delicious. Unlike flatbreads at other restaurants, the flatbread here is slightly thicker and hence doesn't become soggy. Excellent choice, but I imagine you can't go wrong with any of their flatbreads. The creme brulee was okay. Maybe the salted caramel didn't appeal to my taste, but my wife loved it. The service is outstanding and very attentive. I would easily go here again. This is indeed a gem in the city.

Recently enjoyed dinner at Zula on a business trip with a large group. It was amazing! Our server, Charlie was great - prompt, friendly, professional, and made good recommendations! It seemed like we tried everything on the menu and all was awesome. We started with the charred calamari, deconstructed lamb, and arancini. The lamb and arancini were crowd favorites! We then tried the rare seared tuna crudo, beef carpaccio, and haricot vert, and all were good as well. We also tried the Thai mussels and slow roasted tomato and Spanish flatbreads. Charlie, our server, recommended the Spanish flatbread and it was bomb! Awesome flavors and great portion size. One colleague tried the salmon special and said it was very good. We finished with the panna cotta, walnut Kahlua brownie, and creme brûlée. Both were good but the creme brûlée was really good! We ate everything so fast I couldn’t get pictures of everything! Awesome experience and I’d highly recommend and will be back!

Came with a couple of girlfriends for one of their birthday. Staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and fun! We had a blast. Mussels are a must get everytime. Highly recommend if you're looking for something different with a cool vibe.

Love mussels and they are somehow hard to find. This place has a bunch of options. We got the house fries for an app, which has a great aioli with it. I had the french style mussels with the bread. My husband had the goat cheese flat bread and we made sure to leave room for dessert which was yummy.

This is a nice upscale Italian restaurant near the OTR area. The menu has many unique options, but only a few vegetarian options. The taste is awesome though. They have an extensive drinks menu. The ambience is good in an intimate setting. The service is great and the staff is well informed.

Comfortable environment based on where we were seated. The restaurants sort of loud though but not terrible since you could still hear your friends talking. Came for a friends birthday and they had cut our cake but should of given us a heads up that it was $25. Other than that, they have good food and service! Portions tend to be small for the price you pay. Update: I recently went there for my another friend’s birthday. With COVID, I would definitely recommend putting in a reservation. Only downside of this night was that once we were seated. It took over 30+ mins for us to get a server. They kept walking past which I understand they were busy but they could of at least acknowledged us and brought water. We had to flag a busboy down to send a server over. &It was still super loud and crowded.
