My first stop in Germany left a really bad impression. First, they told me to find a seat on my own, but after I sat down, they told me that the area wasn’t open. I waited for a long time and didn’t get a menu, so I went to the waiter to ask for one. He told me to go back and wait at my seat. When the food was served, the waiter said a long sentence in German. I didn’t understand, and he rolled his eyes at me before walking away. In the end, he even had the nerve to ask for a tip. Your management is stingy — there were only three servers covering a huge area. I understand that they were busy, but that has nothing to do with me as a customer. It’s fine if they’re stressed, but they shouldn’t take it out on the guests. On the bright side, the pumpkin soup was delicious, the beer was great, but the pork knuckle was a bit too salty.

Great german food and very friendly service! Kitchen is open until 21:45. Very good tap beer. Steamed pork knuckle (eisbein) with mashed potatoes is delicious!

I ordered Mediterranes Gemüsepfännchen. The portion was good. It was delicious, but the waiter was a little neglecting. Still, it's a good treat.

One of my favourite German restaurants so far! The roasted pork knuckle was very good (crispy on the outside and very soft inside). It’s not the traditional fried version. We loved the fish dish as well. Overall, the prices were reasonable with high quality!

It is pretty nice place, typical German style. I tried goulash, the portion was bigger than my expectation. And it was extremely delicious. The local beer was pretty refreshing. Highly recommend!

Great German restaurant in the centre of Dortmund. Really cute atmosphere outside. I ordered the paprika schnitzel. It was really good and very good. I got it with the roasted potatoes which were great too. The Hugo spritz was really good too.

Yelp
Good food, decent service. This place was a godsend when I was hungry and strolling through Dortmund with some friends. They had an English menu, which put me a bit more at-ease. The schnitzel was awesome. Not that schnitzel in and of itself isn't already awesome, but theirs was particularly awesome. The service was good, and I wasn't disappointed when we decided to go to this place on a whim. The location is pretty great, but the decor was the best part. They had picture frames around all of their televisions, and the decor had a bavarian feel to it (I realize Bavaria is on the other side of the country, but chandeliers made of severed animal parts scream Bavaria to me). A good place, reasonably-priced, English-friendly (ish, the waiter didn't speak any, but the English language menu helped massively).

Yelp
Great ambience and location in the rebuilt city centre. Not very large, but busy on a Wednesday night. Large selection of local delicacies and brews. Many difficult choices. Everything everyone else was getting also looked good. Great value for money.

Yelp
A lovely restaurant with a gigantic patio in the middle of the busiest square in the city. The food was good, the service was meh, the beer was cold. It always seems busy, and is well traveled by tourists and locals alike. A very solid choice.
