Zum Goldenen Schwan

Thanks a lot to the Chef who fulfilled my wish to have a dish that’s not on the menu ( Giant Grilled Sausage with French Fries and Salad). That was very tasty and extremely generous portion of salad! The service was good, quick and efficient and the homemade beer was also very tasty! The price was good, too! Definitely a must visit restaurant in Erfurt!

Zum Goldenen Schwan is a great spot, especially if you're a fan of house-brewed beer. Their Pils was delicious - crisp and refreshing! A nice touch is that you can even take their beer home in 1-liter bottles. We stopped by for lunch and tried their seasonal pumpkin menu. The pumpkin soup, spiced with orange and ginger, was comforting and perfect for a cool day. The pumpkin tart with green beans was tasty, but the pastry was unfortunately soggy, and the sweet berry sauce drizzled on top seemed out of place and didn’t quite fit the dish. The service was efficient and polite, and the prices are fair. Overall, a pleasant experience, especially if you're after great beer!

We dined here late the Friday night of the Erfurt city fiesta. We concentrated on asparagus dishes; Olivia took an asparagus pie and I opted for the asparagus served with potatoes, cooked ham and industrial sauce Hollandaise. In all, there were five big whites, 16 potatoes and 8 slices of ham, enough to feed two grown men, if you want my opinion, so there were some leftovers. Service was expediently humorous. We will not return if getting back to Erfurt.

A good and usually crowded place. Went there for beer with a couple of friends and I must say the beer is pretty amazing! Service was also great and we had nothing to complain about. An obvious recommendation from me.

Typical german food in a typical german restautant. Very big one, different eating rooms, you can chose the best ambientbfor you. Aldo a big terrace. Very well located in the city center, in the middle of the tourism attractions. Good service, althoug a bit slow.

Great food and beer. One out the must places in Erfurt. Enjoy the atmosphere of a medivial.old European city. Typical Thüringen food

Being one of the oldest breweries in Thüringen, this authentic and lovely brewery is located in the heart of beautiful Erfurt city. Definitely recommended and a must-try for beer lovers.

If you want traditional German pub, this is it. Fantastic German food, various kinds of beer and superb service.

I wanted some authentic German food while in Erfurt, and it seemed like Zum Goldenen Schwan consistently came up on Internet searches for a great place to eat in Erfurt. I asked to sit outside, and my server placed me at a small table with two other people. I don't mind sitting with others in a communal setting, but I thought it was strange and a bit rude to be sat at a table meant for four with two other people who were at a different stage of their meal than me. For an appetizer I had the Hausgemachtes Würzfleisch in der Blätterteigpastete mit Sauce Hollandaise (Ragout fin in a pie crust with Hollandaise sauce, pictured) which flavorful and a good amount of food for an appetizer. For my main course, I had the Gebratene Flugentenkeule mit Apfelrotkohl und Thüringer Klößen (roast leg of duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings, pictured). The prices seemed reasonable for the amount of food I had. I've read other reviews about this restaurant which hinted that this was a touristy, crowded restaurant, but I didn't feel that way here. The service was decent for Germany, and the food was promptly brought to me.

This is a massive German Bar/Restaurant, perhaps the best known in town. It is both vast and busy. If I lived in Erfurt it would be the kind of place I would be reluctant to go to because of the crush, but somewhere I'd always be glad I went afterwards. The beer here is really excellent. Their Hausbier (pils) was very drinkable, probably the best drink I had in Erfurt. Followed this up with a potatoe beer (not quite sure how the potatoe is brought into the brewing process) which was also a nice drink. Decided to eat something and the dumpling was certainly a tasty way to soak up some beer.

Atmosphere is nice, so is the staff. My "Riesenbratwurst" was quite nice - what you'd expect for traditional cuisine. My wife had a vegetable curry, where the curry was nowhere to be found. It was neither Indian nor related to any other Asian region that may have a dish called something with "curry". The fact that they added a "Mango Chutney", however, suggests this was supposed to be Indian. Nowhere near.
