The staff appear to care very much about their clients and try very hard to make the stay pleasant. Nothing is super extravagant but nonetheless quite adequate - breakfast has just enough variety and quite tasty, while the fitness room quite small yet with a few cardio pieces to allow for more than one person use at a time. However, being in the heart of the village with mountain views and access to numerous tourist attractions is really the jewel of this place. If travelling during season transition or the heat of the summer, be aware of a lack of modern climate control in the room - e.g., radiators gave no heat when only +7C outside and would imagine the room to get rather warm when without air conditioning to accommodate +30C. Otherwise, a very excellent stay with an equipped kitchen, etc.

This is a wonderful hotel! The Glas Family truly take care of every detail. We rented an apartment which was modern, spacious, had plenty of storage, had a spectacular view and was equipped to meet every one of our needs. Other family members joined us in our two weeks stay. They rented rooms and were also satisfied.|The hotel is located next to the Catholic Church. The bells ring every 15 minutes. We found them very soothing. |It is just a very short walk to shops, restaurants, the Passionstheater and hiking/walking trails. This very charming town has such a unique appeal. The Turmwirt is ideally located to do all these things while enjoying the picturesque buildings, wood carvings and flowers. |There is no doubt that we would stay at this hotel the next time we are in the area.

I was lucky to get spacious room, that probably is bigger than other rooms in this hotel. The place is very nice, located next to the church, close to town's centre. Suitable for long and short stay. Breakfast choice sufficiently diversified. The only minus is that the self-service laundry accepts payment in cash only as do the vending machine. This is a general problem in Germany where cashless payments remains a novelty.

This hotel is an excellent place to stay when visiting the Oberammergau region. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful when we were planning to visit the local areas. The rooms at the hotel are spacious and bright and the hotel itself is exceptionally maintained. We looked forward to breakfast as the variety and quality of food was very good. The hotel is located within walking distance of the main square and close to bus routes ( with free bus passes) that make it easy to visit the Zugspitze, Linderhof palace and Neuschwanstein Castle. We looking forward to returning to Oberammergau one day and will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in connection with the Passion Play. Herr Glas was a most welcoming host: there had been a mix-up over our dates but he was really understanding. We had a lovely big room with a balcony overlooking the churchyard. The breakfast was excellent and, in addition to the buffet, you could ask for individual items to be prepared. The hotel is very conveniently located and provides a real Bavarian welcome.

This hotel provides wonderful service which is friendly and fast. The place had an elevator and an outside patio area in the back off the street. It is just a very short walk to the rest of the village and across the street from the historic church. The breakfast buffet is great in the dining area which also has an open extension. My room had its own bathroom, a mini fridge and coffee maker. The room was serviced every day. Also it is family owned!

My husband and adullt son stayed in hotel May 15 and were very pleased with service, spaciousness, location, good breakfast and free parking. It is run by family and they are friendly, attentive and helpful. The exterior is pretty with murals on the walls and our room was nicely decorated and comfortable. We were in a corner room with views of the Alps on one side and a historic church and cemetery on the other. Nice little private balcony that we could open up to out son’s if we wanted. Great shower and amenities. Th location was excellent and near shops and restaurants. We enjoyed walking the cobblestone streets and looking into shop windows when we arrived. When we lived in Germany forty years ago we went to Oberammergau many times, but never stayed overnight and I am glad we did this time. It has a different atmosphere that is quieter and more like a German village. Oh, the hotels breakfast is quite good with lots of food and served in a pretty little room with lots of windows. We were very pleased with hotel and feel we got a good value.

Ok, lets get the key thing out of the way first. This hotel is right next to a church and those bells ring on the hour every hour throughout the night. My room was at the front so the sound was more of an issue for me than other guests at the back of the hotel. This is pretty annoying to be honest, the hotel was booked through work and so I had no influence on the booking.||||The GOOD, there is good wifi in the hotel, it is fast and easy to connect to. The hotelier waited for me to arrive (late flight) which was appreciated. The hotel is in a good central location and within easy access of all the nice things in Oberammergau. During the week the breakfast service was good, prompt and with a reasonable range. The rooms were cleaned regularly and the service was good.||||The BAD, there was no kettle in the rooms, which seems like a serious omission these days I went and brought my own kettle to have a brew over the 2 weeks that I stayed here. The plug on the sink broke regularly. The sound proofing in the hotel is rubbish and you could clearly hear other guests conversations throughout the hotel. Finally the pillows were rubbish, I mean genuinely terrible.||||All in its a fairly mixed experience, my colleague stayed in the hotel but had a room at the back and did have a better experience. If you are staying, it is worth specifying a room at the back and probably bringing a travel kettle.
