Bavarian tapas were a fun way to have a unique dinner and try a little bit of many local dishes. We loved the ox cheeks, schnitzel, cheese spatzle, and flammkuchen, and everything else we tried was very good too. I recommend a reservation, although we were able to get in without one. The atmosphere was great and we felt the food and drinks were very good value.

Google
Great Bavarian restaurant with nice concept of small places. Places had everything that you expect from good German restaurant, classic dishes and some options with the Italian twist (like pasta) and you can try several dishes in a smaller size that is perfect for someone who can't eat so much but wants to try different options. There are also regular sizes. Beer for sure is fresh and tasty. Great wibes, fast and efficient service, easy to book over the phone, nice design inside and plenty of sits outside.

Google
We enjoyed all of our meals! Highly recommend the deer sausages. The chocolate cake was perfect as well. We enjoyed the flamkuchen and potato soup too. Good variety of German food and they also have German tapas so you can try many things (that is what the group next to us did).

Daniel Preisinger

Google
Wonderful place which celebrates German, Austrian and Bavarian cuisine to the utmost. They had the great idea to serve some of the heavier meat dishes in the form of Tapas, which are still quite big but gives one the option of ordering more. Nothing for Vegans but great for meat lovers. Would definitely go again if in the area.

Google
We stopped in for a late lunch after a visit to Eibsee. They have a "small" version of most plates and a full size, too. The food was excellent. I had the stuffed schnitzel and my friend had the roast beef in red wine sauce. The flavors were incredible. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really great, and the service was good too! We did not have a reservation, so we were at a shared table, which was fine. They also had a nice beer garden, but we were trying to stay dry in the thunderstorms so we stayed indoors. I'm so glad we found this place!

Google
It's a cosy little restaurant with absolutely delicious food and well worth the money. The restaurant is very busy so you need to book in advance to guarantee a table.

Google
Lovely little Bavarian restaurant and bar. We stopped in for a quick drink. Reisling was amazing (according to my wife!) and I enjoyed my Helles beer.

Google
Food was great. Make sure to do reservation and also plan on reaching ahead of time if visiting on a weekend or during public holidays. It remains super crowded and finding parking close to the restaurant is quite difficult. We ordered stuffed Schnitzel, fish, and apple beignet. The food and service were great. Portion sizes were huge, typical Bavarian portions.

Nijole T.

Yelp
This is one of the most famous restaurants in town and we were able to get a table by arriving at opening time. Fortunately, they were out of some of the items we had wanted, but what we did was fantastic. The food did take quite a while as they are extremely busy and they were honestly not very friendly. Rounding up because the flavors were delicious and it was extremely authentic, but because of the service I would not return.

Christie K.

Yelp
A nice restaurant tucked away of the main walking street of Garmisch Inside and beer garden seating. Dogs welcome. Especially liked the Bavarian tapas (small meals) offered. Decent prices for a tourist town. serves many wild hirch (deer) meat dishes but also veggie options

Roger G.

Yelp
Delicious food. Great service. Phenomenal place! Definitely a place to get outstanding Bavarian food.

Scot M.

Yelp
Absolute great food, although limited with what I ordered but will be sure to return to sample something else. Friendly greeting as I arrived for a late Monday afternoon lunch. Told to seat myself, tons of empty tables, they all seem to overly large. Seems to be a great place for groups. Service was great, my dunkel arrived with a menu. Three deer sausages with sauerkraut and bread followed not long after. Great interior atmosphere, cozy and relaxing. A second visit is more than appropriate.

Tracey D.

Yelp
Food was fantastic! Authentic Bavaria food. Ordered potato soup and pork knuckle and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Wished we could have gotten the soup recipe.

Adam K.

Yelp
Great food, loved the classic dishes. Good beer and good service! Nice to sit outside when the weather's nice and the ambiance inside is cozy.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Best potato soup I've eaten!!! Service was excellent. Very attentive and helpful. Quaint atmosphere. Just what you want in a Bavarian restaurant

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Nice Bavarian decor. Great food! I had the Deer/Game Goulash. Rich and tasty. Lunch no res needed. For dinner, you might want to make reservation. Great place. Highly recommend.

Heinrich K.

Yelp

Yelp
Giving it 5 stars for tasty and well prepared regional food, even with service a little slow. It's a good sign if the place is packed with locals. Rustic German/Bavarian ambiance with friendly atmosphere! Not too large of a menu and reasonable prices. We all were very very pleased with the food and atmosphere, hence 5 stars from moi. Check out their "Emergency Schnappskart" - don't try too many.

April L.

Yelp
My family tried this place for lunch Sunday afternoon. We ordered the roast beef, pork belly, & schnitzel. It was nice to sample the local food and enjoy the ambiance. I would recommend making dinner reservation busy they get pretty busy.

Ray C.

Yelp
We showed up at 7 without a reservation. The host was able to put us at a large table with another small family that was more than accomodating. After reading the reviews we didnt want to miss the opportunity to eat here. Wow! A fantastic meal that we won't forget for a while. I had the sirloin and my wife had the pepper steak. Both were cooked to perfection. And I mean mouthwatering perfection. Don't miss a chance to dine here.

Rick I.

Yelp
Came here and was told you cant eat here without a reservation. Cant wait or anything.

Tom B.

Yelp
Gemütliches, bayrisches Gasthaus. Sehr leckeres Bier, gute Speisen und tolle Atmosphäre.

Courtney M.

Yelp
I came here for lunch based off of Yelp reviews and was very underwhelmed. It was a bit empty when I was here and the atmosphere was lacking. I had seen yummy pictures of soups and salads but they were no where to be found on the menu! When I asked if they had any soups or salads our waitress looked at me weird and just said no. My husband and I were given English menus and I swear pages must've been missing! We weren't grabbed by anything on our menu so we just settled for splitting a schnitzel with fries. It was really yummy but I was bummed out when I saw people being served things that weren't on our menu.

Yelp
I've gone to Wildschutz a couple of times now and just love this place. First, you will not leave hungry. Second, this is a true Bavarian experience to have if you are visiting through Garmisch. Do call ahead for a reservation as they are usually packed with people. The service was great and they were super helpful with any questions. I've had the zwiebelrostbraten with side salad and it was delicious. I could not finish it all - though I wanted to. I also tried a nightly special of duck and what was brought out was not just a breast, but half a duck. For one person? This is what I'm talking about here. You can't leave hungry. Will enjoy going back again to Wildshutz!

Bryan L.

Yelp
This place was probably the worst dining experience I've ever had! It was extremely hot inside the restaurant, the server treated us with distain and generally ignored us. The waitress brought us things we did not order and my food was terrible! She was so nasty I didn't dare tell her that I hadn't ordered a salad or that my daughter had ordered something different then what was served. I ordered the goulash, which was extremely salty, sauce was way to thick and strong flavored and the meat was over cooked! I do have to say the mixed salad was very good, but I never ordered it. Never ever again!!

Rachel N.

Yelp
Exactly what we were looking for! Amazing Bavarian meal in the perfect setting! If you want to sit inside it is limited seating so make a reservation. We sat outside and it was perfect. HIGHLY recommend!

LB L.

Yelp
Excellent food and really great service. We were so pleased with our meal. I would recommend it to anyone. We got frittaten soup and schnitzel for the kids. The adults got a brotzeit, salad for me and schnitzel with mustard for my husband. Everyone loves the apple strudel. Service was good too. Get there early if you don't have reservations

Lukasz W.

Yelp
Even a vegetarian can taste here true Bavarian specialities. The restaurant and service are perfect. The food is fantastic if you like this kind of kitchen - you need to remember that traditional Bavarian cuisine is meat based and usually you can see on your plate sausages, pork, ham etc with sauerkraut or red cabbage. Definitely this restaurant is worth of visiting!!!

Donnette B.

Yelp
Delicious!! One of the best German (Bavarian) meals I've ever had. Delightful atmosphere that's popular with local Germans as well as tourists.

Susan K.

Yelp
Great service and traditional German food. Also great for kids! Lovely patio in a wonderful town. Try the farmers plate if you like meat!

David S.

Yelp
5 stars. Easiest rating decision I've ever made. Great service. I was solo and was seated at the end of the bar - which means I had this nice padded bench to myself. Best seat in the house for a solo diner. Ordered the Obazda - tasty, but just a warmup for the Schweinbraten. Good grief it was good. Came with dumplings and what seemed like a cross between sauerkraut and cole slaw. Either way, it was the bomb. After 2 beers and this plate of heaven, I was ready to waddle back to my hotel. When I come back to G-P, I'm coming here - and I'm bringing my appetite with me!

Gregory D.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner last night. Large portion sizes. Delicious !! Andrea was cheerful and her recommendations were fantastic. But we didn't leave room for dessert. So we came back the next day for the Apfelstrudel. Presentation was really nice. Thank you!

Brian B.

Yelp
Looked up a bunch of reviews on Yelp and we settled on this joint. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing with huge portions, way more food than you need. The service was excellent as well. I would definitely call for a reservation as even on a weeknight it was booked up solid and hard to find a place, especially if you want to sit outside in the beer garden. Some of the best German/Austrian food we had all trip. Highly recommended.

Lara H.

Yelp
Amazing food! Make reservations as far in advance as you can or you will share a table, which isn't necessarily the end of the world. If you are interested in the pork knuckle reserve it when you make the reservation. They were out for the night by 6:45 unless you had reserved one and they only start serving them at 6:00. The roasted pork was a great alternative though. Wait staff very helpful and made suggestions. Lastly, it is cash only, wouldn't want you to have to wash dishes

Yelp
WUNDERBAR!!!! After years of living in Europe and visiting 100's of restaurants, this is by far the best. If you are new and looking for the best and most traditional Bavarian food, this is the restaurant for you. The food is absolutely delicious. The deco and atmosphere is completely Bavarian, warm, cozy, and clean. This is the best schnitzel that I have ever had. The portions are fantastic and served with French fries (Pommes) or Fried potatoes (Bratkartoffeln) Two recommendations, 1.) Come to this restaurant with an appetite and ready to be completely satisfied. 2.) Make a reservation, for the mere fact that this restaurant is so good and always full from customers who made their reservations the day before I'm sure. We were there yesterday for lunch and tonight for dinner. Jesse was our waitress yesterday and Kada tonight. Both of them are very sweet and kind and made sure we had everything we needed. If you go anywhere in GERMANY to eat, make this your number one choice.

Rachel C.

Yelp
My husband and I were on the fence about Bavarian food before coming here. A local at Jack wolf jacket store recommended this place and it was seriously the best decision of our entire germany trip. We have been unimpressed with all of our previous Bavarian food experience (we are one day 6 of a 9 day trip) and this place changed our experience. The food is was awesome. You will need to make a reservation. We came early but he place got packed. Everything we ate here was delicious. We went off recommendations from the server! The potato soup was 5+ stars!! Definitely a must have.

Stewart V.

Yelp
We had an excellent experience tonight at Wildshutz . The sweet smell of onions and meat brought us in from the outside. The interior has a rustically romatic candle vibe. The wood ornamentation was beautiful and atmosphere felt clean and inviting.. Once we stepped inside and looked around, we found that the restaurant was full except for a couple of reserved tables. I let the manager know that we just drove into town and were looking for some lite fare with drinks. We were super happy that's she gave us one of the reserved tables for 6. I ordered the deer meat sausages (hirschbraten with sauerkraut) (11eur), asparagus soup (5 eur), hefewiezen bier and pommes frites. The food and drinks were excellent. We love, love, loved it.. We noted the local white asparagus crop was ready by all vegetable stands in the smaller outer lying farm villages. Of course we ordered one of the asparagus specials.. My asparagus creme Soup was fantastik!! Still imagine the suttle creamy flavors ....My bier was delicious as well.. We were able to find steet parking close by near the church. The service was quick and friendly. Our server spoke perfect english and had a wity charm about her. The fare was reasonably priced and I would definitely return..

Yelp
Stopped in here after I saw the business on trip advisor and yelp. The ratings are pretty accurate. The food is really good and very worth it. Make a reservation to get a table on a Friday or Saturday. Definitely a must if you are in the Garmisch area. All of the food is good so its hard to make a recommendation. Schnitzel is always a go to! Very good!!!

Mike L.

Yelp
This place was absolutely awesome! Friendly and very informative of the local area. The ambiance is what we were looking for in a German restaurant. The food was incredible! Highly recommend.

Char C.

Yelp
Amazing yumminess awaits you! Amazing yumminess awaits you! Amazing yumminess awaits you! Amazing yumminess awaits you! Amazing yumminess awaits you! Amazing yumminess awaits you! Amazing yumminess awaits you! Go! Eat! Enjoy the cozy, warm, inviting venue!

Seth S.

Yelp
Amazing food atmosphere and food; I had the pork knuckle and it was phenomenal! Also it was 2 min walk from our Airbnb

Wendy Jo P.

Yelp
The ambiance and food is traditional in style and tastes! The English menu doesn't always equate to what you might have in mind. Go with the trout, salmon, schnitzel, or venison always here! Salad and bread are great, but the portions are huge! Keep that in mind. Always make a reservation!!

Tara M.

Yelp
I love this place! The sounds of live music and the smell of the food sucked me in from the street. I wanted a seat at the bar, as I'm traveling solo, and had to wait for a bit. As I waited outside (by choice), the staff checked in with me frequently, and immediately let me know once it opened. They even offered to reseat me once a more comfortable bar chair opened up. The meal arrived quickly, and it was delicious. I had several waiters check to see how my meal was going - great service! The atmosphere is very cozy and there are several large tables to create a community feel. I would highly recommend this local gem!

Enid D.

Yelp
Man oh man! This spot was absolutely amazing! We are visiting the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen because we chose to take our Christmas vacation from Sigonella at the military resort of Edelweiss. As we were out and about, I wanted something other than food at the resort but Hubby was not trying to go anywhere I wanted. I wanted Indian food. The resort provided a list of various types of restaurants and their addresses. Hubby insisted upon German food. This place stood out because of the name so I thought what the heck. I still had an attitude though because I wanted Indian. Nevertheless, I looked on the menu and found something I hoped I would like. My food came and looked and smelled amazing! But, when I bit into it it was more than amazing! The steak was one of the best I've ever had and the cheesy potato pasta didn't disappoint either! If your in the area, please give this place a try. It's totally worth it!

Laurence W.

Yelp
The Wildschutz looks to be the most popular dining spot in Garmisch, and with good reason: the atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. I went back a second night in a row just to have the venison again (served with two sauces and pan-fried dumplings). The low note -- as with all German restaurants, it seems -- was the overdressed salad, but I loved the white sausage with pretzel and sweet mustard, and the stuffed weiner schnitzel. The apple strudel was pretty good, too. Watch out for the crowds: it gets busy... Expect to share a table with foreign locals, foreign vacationers, and domestic vacationers.

Scott S.

Yelp
Wow! Bottom line, this is probably the top two or three restaurants I have gone to, Period! We came here two nights in a row. Everything we had was absolutely awesome! I highly suggest the following: crispy roasted pork belly, deer meat sausage, the goulash, the pork knuckle, the schnitzel, and yes, the apple strudel. You probably won't go wrong. Enjoy!

Matthew F.

Yelp
We visited based on the Yelp reviews and we loved this place. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and live music! Food was outstanding. We were a group of 5 with three children (12,11,6) visiting Garmisch from America. We shared a large table with a young couple from Hamburg and had a wonderful evening. The menu was nice with something for everyone. They must have done a nice business that night because they were out of a few of their pork dishes. We came later in the evening, around 900 pm. The venison goulash, trout and schnitzel were all really good.

V V.

Yelp
Cute-Cute-Cute! Received a recommendation for this place and was not disappointed! The Game Goulash Special was amazing! They amount of food served was large, the presentation was great, the atmosphere cozy and the staff was fantastic! I was lucky enough to get a seat without a reservation; however, it's highly recommended that you call prior because that's not always guaranteed. I added a picture of the cool menu. I was so distracted by the delicious food that I forgot to get a picture.

Claudette R.

Yelp
OMG, so good. We spent the day hiking and then popped in on a whim for an early dinner. The staff was able to accommodate us even though the restaurant was fully booked. I had the venison, my husband had Schweinskrustenbraten. We also had the Bärlauch soup -- this was a seasonal special, and not on the English menu, by the way. Pay attention to the signs on the way in just in case, the waitress was surprised we knew about the soup. Anyway, it was fantastic. Very mellow and not at all overwhelming or tangy. Call ahead and reserve a table if you want to make sure you can be seated, we were lucky that we got there so early -- the tables were all booked starting at about 6 p.m. Not a restaurant for vegetarians, by the way. :D

Thomas B.

Yelp
My only question, where is their fifth star? They were able to seat us without a reservation and the service was unmatched! We ordered a schnitzel with sweet mustard and horseradish, it was perfect! The breading was crisp and the mustard and horseradish was really special; a must! We also had deer meat bratwurst. They were smoked and a really fine grind on the sausage and the sauerkraut was amazing. The restaurant is right off the square, so it's a great place to shop and just walk around. We will be back.

Paul B.

Yelp
This is a German restaurant in a tourist town. Ordered the sweinhaxen and it was ok. The sauce was really salty. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice.

Anna H.

Yelp
to be honest as a local... it's a tourist trap... tables are given away by hours is def a vibe killer. I had a salad with bacin wrapped mozzarella, i most likely took the wrong choice but... It was really bad! The taste of the sticks and just green salad, with very view other veggies... the others picked better but food is average, service is friendly! If you wanna go local, there's def better places!

Mark W.

Yelp
Outstanding foods. The place was packed with locals which is a very good sign. Staff friendly and very helpful.

Lipkenss ..

Yelp
Huge portions, nice atmosphere and very good food including local specialities. Great place for a dinner in Garmisch Partenkirchen.

Shilpa N.

Yelp
The Yelp says this place is open until 23.30 which is wrong. The lady there shut the door on us at 21.45..So doesnt work this way, atleast not in mid- October. There are very few places one could eat at in this small town after 20.00( apparently kitchen closes much earlier than the timings mentioned here!). Rating 1 star because of the disappointing false information.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Great restaurant, must visit! I went alone and got a seat at the bar - the atmosphere is fantastic and the staff are all very pleasant. Seated near me were a couple of locals and a couple from the States. I ordered a bier and the schweinbraten. The food was severed quick and was absolutely delicious. The visible kitchen is obviously well-run. Will be a great place to return to. Next time, I'll remember to order the apple strudel!

Jona B.

Yelp
We were there yesterday and were astonished. Frankly, this is one of the quaintest restaurants I've ever been to. Superb food and kind staff. Certainly not the last time there. Thumbs up!
