We were very satisfied with the dinner experience here. Food was impeccable, we loved the slow cooked beef, pork belly and especially enjoyed the appetizer rabbit terrine with lentils. The desert was interesting and the presentation was fun to watch, watching the hot caramel sauce poured over chocolate covered banana ice cream ball on a chocolate sponge cake. The waitress was very sweet and attentive.

Locals and forums recommended this restaurant. I am so happy we listened. The presentation of the dishes, the hospitality, it was all stellar. Jess was warm, welcoming, and very attentive.

We went to this restaurant that a friend suggested and it quickly became our favorite! I loved the ribeye steak with mushroom and cheese sauce—it was so tasty! Plus, after dinner, you can get 25% off drinks at their bar. Definitely worth a visit!

Make a reservation, you won't regret it. I ordered pork belly as a starter. I was extremely hesitant about the banana chutney, but with the glazed pork belly it was well balanced and delicious. It works. Also the pork belly melted, it was so tender. The strip loin was cooked exactly how I wanted it. Medium rare. The onion hash brown had a great crisp on the outside and complimented every bite with the steak. I treated the croquette as a little bonus with the carrot puree. The edge of the strip loin (3 bites) was a little more medium and dryer, but you wouldn't notice it with a little sweep of the bone marrow jus. I'd be remiss to not mention the Strawberry Smash cocktail. I thought it was very nice and smooth. I had ordered an old fashion afterwards and even that was executed correctly with the orange rub along the rim. I think for a starter, main, and two cocktails it was priced pretty reasonable for this level of quality. I only had one night here, but I would return on a future visit. The service was very attentive and they made multiple touch points throughout the dinner.

As a regular but not frequent diner here I always look forward to a meal at Zunis because I know I will savour every mouthful of what I choose. My husband always has the soup, which is made with the most delicious stock base ever tasted. The staff are second to none in their professionalism and friendliness

Google
Zuni is wonderful! The food is amazing. As an anti-salad eater in America, I ate every bite of my salad with my roasted chicken. The chocolate brownie ice cream was to die for! The staff was very attentive. Highly reccomend Zuni!

Google
Wonderful atmosphere and the bathroom was lovely. I got a cappuccino and it made me feel sick after a few sips. My boyfriend had an Americano and felt ill after too. The lemon meringue alaska was nice but the banoffee ball was too sweet, the hot caramel was too much. I think the customer should be allowed to pour it themselves to control how much sauce is added.

Had lunch here and was so impressed. Excellent food and service. Lovely menu, food was fresh and delicious and the restaurant setting was very nice, spotless. Lovely experience. 10/10

Yelp
We had a fantastic dinner at Zuni during our stay in Kilkenny. We had the whipped feta to start; the cod, salmon and beef featherblade (cut like butter) as mains; and the desserts were all unbelievable too: the lemon meringue, the chocolate honeycomb tart and last but definitely not least, the sticky toffee pudding which was probably the highlight. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Really enjoyed the early bird special running from 5;00-5:45. For the starter, I chose the pork terrine and it was great for anyone who likes pate-like things and it had a firmer meatier texture. Great with the toast (and bread from the basket too). Next was the main, and I chose the cod, based on some previous reviews not being happy with the beef. The cod was great. I'm not used to having such a big, wide piece of cod. The fish was fresh and tasty. The skin was soggy but that's fine. It didn't need the overly salty scallions underneath it. Then for dessert (yes get the 3 courses!) I had the lemon meringue based on a rec from the server. It was a good mix of sweet creaminess, cold tangy, and yummy shortbread. Everything was more delicious than I expected. I would come back. Oh and the gin-based beesiness cocktail was well done, nicely balanced, and well-presented in a nice glass.

Yelp
Once again very tasty meal the braised beef very tender & delicious . My friend had butter squash soup which was very tasty ! You can't go wrong with " classic fish & chips ". Wine selection always excellent. I Espresso martini " superb . Service is impressive !Atmosphere relaxing no music blasting TG.

Yelp
Has both a bar area and a fine dining area. Recommend the fine dining area. The food in general was good but some of it lacked flavor. The butternut squash soup was outstanding! The steak was very good. The SLOW BRAISED IRISH BEEF FEATHERBLADE (pulled beef shaped line steak) was not great, and then the dessert was very good. The service had a little to be desired, staff was nice but not attentive.

Yelp
We took a chance eating lunch here and loved the chili chicken salad, curry soup and salmon salad. Portions are large and the bread was delicious. There were so many flavors in the salads. Give this place a try if you're in the area.

Yelp
We were able to make a last minute reservation here for New Years Eve and I am really glad that they were able to fit us in. I had the chicken salad for a starter. It was amazing- warm chili chicken with cashews and sweet potato crisps in a vinaigrette. SOO good. I was told that this is also on the regular menu. I would go back just for that salad! My sirloin steak was also very good, but that salad was unforgettable.

Yelp
This place is amazingly good- if it isn't the best restaurant in Kilkenney, then I'm not sure what is. While the menu is a bit limited, the portions and flavors certainly aren't. Enjoyed the Hake and Lamb as entrees and the trout and veal appetizers. Truly a gastro-delicious dining experience. Great atmosphere, with crisp white linens and just the right setting to accompany the flavors.

Yelp
We were expecting much better, but the food here was average at best. The lamb was very fatty. The fish was a bit better, but not by much. The mashed potatoes were good, but that's a tough one to mess up. The wine selection isn't particularly special, we had a burgundy that seemed the most promising option on the list and turned out to be pretty generic, especially considering the cost.

Yelp
I love in here for brunch, it's one of the few spots in Kilkenny that does a proper brunch including French toast, etc. There are a lot of spots nearby that jut do full fries. The decor has been done up in the front part where breakfast is served and it's been very tastefully done. The staff can sometimes be a bit abrupt and not the most friendly but the general manager of the hotel and restaurant is very nice. I'd love to see the addition of pancakes or waffles and fresh juices (this is a small negative, it's concentrated orange juice stuff) to the menu. Their pastries are great and the coffee is very good quality too.

Yelp
Maybe because I live in New Orleans I'm a bit spoiled with good food and impeccable service. This place was recommended and it was certainly busy, but I was disappointed with both the food and the service. As a solo diner I am used to being ignored. But when I spend two hours and 100 euro in a restaurant, I expect a little more than this. They evidently gang wait and so it is a bit haphazard . I had at least five people at my table at different times. So no one could really know what I wanted. For my last night in Kilkenny I was hoping for an experience and this was not the kind of experience I was looking for.

Yelp
Had a late lunch at the bar area. They have a separate dining area by the bar, but no seats at the bar. They also have a separate "bar" menu. The soup of the day was quite tasty and the fish-n-chips were well done as well. The servers at the are very polished, probably due to the fact that the main part of the establishment is considered a "fine dining" venue.

Yelp
Went with a large group for the early bird here and I have to say I couldn't fault a thing. The food was top quality and service excellent. Main course I had was the confit pork belly which was superb. Tender and tasty with a sweet apricot purée. For desert I went for the simple ice cream selection. I was expecting just the usual vanilla, strawberry and chocolate combo but what was presented was something very different. I think it was a combination of hazelnut, pistachio-mint and proper raspberry ripple. All how made (or seemed to be) and fantastic. An unexpected surprise. Next time I'm in Kilkenny I'll be back for more of the same.

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner in the restaurant here - it was truly outstanding. I started off with the smoked trout scotch egg, not something I would usually go for but I was intrigued and am glad I went for it, it was a tasty delight, amazing texture and most of my fellow diners had serious food envy! For main course I opted for the steak and chips. Not adventurous but hey-ho it was incredible and I'm glad I went for it. It was served with the most divine chunky chips which were served in a mini-chip pan. For dessert, we shared a passion fruit Baked Alaska, very old school but it really awakened my passion for passion fruit - I've been craving it ever since! This is an excellent dinner choice, if you're in Kilkenny you really should try it!

Yelp
What can I say about such an exquisite dining experience that hasn't already been said? Out of the gate, I was met with prompt seating and drink service in a packed open kitchen bistro, right in the center of Kilkenny. The beer and wine selection was plentiful, though I did not solicit the whiskey list as I usually do; I was given the impression it would be comprehensive. For an appetizer, I had a delicious ham hock; followed by some mouth- watering hake, and finished with real vanilla Ice cream over a biscuit smothered with lemon meringue (a most decadent choice). Throughout our time, both the waitress as well as the host were attentive to our every need. As a matter of fact, the only thing I can think of in a negative light is the heat emanating from the kitchen, which, as I previously mentioned, was left open to the main dining area---a true tribute to HGTV's open concept theme. They tend to close a tad earlier than I perfer, but I imagine that makes for happier employees and better service.

Yelp
Great restaurant in a lovely city. Food is consistently top notch. Have been several times over the last 5 years without a single bad experience or complaint about the food. Most recent dinner with my lovely wife was another special experience: had superb course of tuna with wasabi, soya sauce & ginger.

Yelp
Service was a bit slow but friendly and attentive. Food quality and presentation was superb and fresh! We had the scallops and halibut. The halibut had fresh pea sauce and veggies that were so tasty and added so much flavor. The strawberry dessert was so flavorful! Very highly recommend!

Yelp
Great restaurant and great service. We had the early bird menu and while of course if will change, look for the beetroot tart tatin and the salmon, which was a very generous portion and cooked perfectly. The eton mess dessert was also fun and huge, so sharing one was more than enough. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended, a little bit hidden off the street. Really good choice on menu and early bird is very good value. Food lived up to what we expected and we couldn't fault the service!

Yelp
We stayed upstairs in an amazing room and were tired from our travels. We thought "oh, it's so lame to eat where you are staying." Nope. Worth it. The tapas menu was interesting and delicious. Not too overpriced. We both ordered the risotto. the flavors were right on. The rice could have been cooked a bit longer, but it was creamy and comforting. The warm chicken salad was tasty and perfectly sized. The squid and root salad I ordered was a hit! Also, breakfast was divine. My companion ordered the yoghurt and fresh fruit- which looks fresh. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict. Lemony and smokey. Mmmmm.

Yelp
Fabulous meal, great wine! Food was excellent! Pork confit was so good! Service excellent! Cheers to the kitchen staff and front of house. Might come back tomorrow!

Yelp
Excellent meal, highly recommended on all counts. Would have 5 stars were it not for inconsistencies of service during the meal and the excessive portion size. We were either smothered at the start with attentive service or ignored later on when we wanted desserts and after dinner coffees. It very well could have simply been a consequence of the restaurant being very full of people and busy. Our dinner (sirloin steak) was expertly cooked - juicy and full of flavor. There was simply too much of it. The garnish and potato cake on the side were likewise well done, but altogether it was an almost extreme helping of food. Perhaps that is normal, however I found it excessive (even as an American).

Yelp
My favourite restaurant in kilkenny. That's saying something in a place that is a real culinary destination now. I could never fault the food or service. Superb

Yelp
We had dinner one night on our recent stay at Zunis. Although we had a reservation, we had a long wait for our table (for two). It was december so they were busy with party groups. However, staff were very professional and helpful (with wine list) and we had a drink in the lobby before going into the beautiful room that is the restaurant. starters seemed well prepped (busy night in december) but pleasant enough. The Terrine being particularly meaty. The mains (one fish) and mine a wonderful venison dish that was heaven on a plate and seasonal! Its not cheap but (even on a busy night) service was very good.

Yelp
A well deserved 4.5 stars...wife and I split the sesame tuna appertizer and with the pickled veggies and wasabi mayo it was excellent...then I had the lamb 2 ways...2 perfectly cooked ribs and a Shepard pie type lamb pie...the ribs were perhaps the best lamb I've ever had out...and trust me I order lamb whenever it's on the menu...the mint came thru and added perfectly to the over all taste of the lamb...wife had, and loved, the cod..This is a marvelous we'll run restuarant...bravo to the chef.

Yelp
Wife and I stumbled upon for breakfast. Great Eggs Benedict for her and a unique sour dough toast topped with bacon, tomato, mushroom, and eggs for me. Good service, nice feel.

Yelp
In bar area...Food good...starter of beet root and goats chesse....beetroot felt like it was out of a jar...but not bad...20 mins after starter main course served........very long wait.....main course fish was very good....service was very poor....one guy on own in bar and dealing with arrivals as well as serving......left after mains as no offer of coffee....dessert....poor guy too busy....will go back but need to do better
