Hotel O Bupatara Chiangmai

This is the best low-cost hostel that I found in Chiang Mai, and I stayed in 4 different hostels in 10 days. There are many advantages to staying here... It's the cheapest. The americano coffee hot is just 30 baht (next cheapest I found was 35 baht).The breakfast is really good and very affordable - adding 1 egg costs 10 baht (next cheapest I found was 15 baht).The scooter rentals are cheap.The staff (Zung and Gor) are super nice - it's a very chilled place.The swimming pool is definitely usable.Compared to the other hostels, no stupid rules plastered everywhere in your face.The disadvantages which I found include cleanliness (it is not cleaned well at all), the tiny lockers leave much to be desired, the mattress was not in great condition, some towels have stains, no privacy curtains on the bunkbeds. The biggest disadvantage isn't the hostels fault... At a price like this, yoymu have little control over who the other guests might be - it could be anyone. However, everyone who was there at the same time as me seemed nice. If you're on a tight budget or just want to save money, I strongly recommend ignoring the problems, accepting it for what it is, and enjoying your stay! Again, it's better than the other hostels...

I was on a long stay in the off season. There is no such thing as a room with early check in, I paid a small extra and when I arrived the employee told me there was no such thing I asked where my money went he claimed he didn't know. The worst bed I have ever been in the springs stick out so much they tear the sheet, there is no TV in the room, in any room take that in mind. Overall the price was good for a private room so I stayed along time

Staying here for 2 night and the vibe is so cool. The hotel location is good. Not that far from the city and do enough for my sleepover calmly. The facilities also worth the money spend. The hospitality is great and the woman at reception are well mannered. She's cute too. 😄 Overall, I had a great stay. It was worth the penny spend and will come back again if have the chance.

Excellent location, great service, cheap breakfast and coffee. Definitely recommend over all the other hostels in Chiang Mai. It would be nice if they gave the whole place a good scrub though...

Jan19-25 2025||Takes some doing to find it because it's on those tiny alley streets. But once you find it you're okay.||No elevator.||The bathroom is in two rooms. The toilet and sink is in one and the shower is in the other.||You have to stoop to go through because the door openings are not that high.||The bathroom has no hot water. It has a mirror but no receptacles.||Toilet paper is provided. American toilet.||The shower hot water is supplied by one of those instant heaters, so the flow is not that fast, and you have to play with it...||There is a towel rack. The door does not close...||Nice big towels - must be 4 ft long...||I had corner room 201. Two walls of which have windows so it is a nice bright room. Morning sun comes through one...||The bed is a double and is comfy.||Nice bright light in the ceiling. Light switches are next to the door nowhere near the bed.||No bedside night or reading lights.||No nightstand next to the bed for your watch or clock.||One multiple plug receptacle near the floor next to the door opposite the bed.||Small refrig.||Slow internet.||The place is clean.||The place has a pool.||Good sleep for 500thb/14.70usd/nt||Staff is extremely cordial and accommodating.||Location is walkable to The Chiang Mai Gate and the Night Market, on the East end of the South moat.||So there is plenty of food to access, but shop from booth to booth. As an example, mango smoothies go anywhere from 45 to 20THB...|Look for the booth right next to the canal on the west end of all the booths for the 20 one...||and I have to comment on the Trip Advisor review. ||It says:|The Bupatara offers 21 exclusive and contemporary style rooms in a relaxing environment with a lush tropical garden and pool. I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel in Chiang Mai. The room was not clean — there was a lot of dust, the floor felt sticky, and the bedsheets had a musty smell, as if they hadn’t been washed in a long time. The bathroom was even worse, as the water didn’t run properly for most of my stay, making it difficult to shower or even wash my face and brush my teeth. The staff seemed inattentive, and when I reported the issues, they didn’t make any real effort to fix them. Overall, it was not worth the money, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The bed was so uncomfortable that I could feel every single spring in my back. When I opened the sheets, I saw hair and nails, so the sheets were dirty. I tried to sleep on top of the bed, but then I realized it also had bed bugs. By far, this was the worst experience of my life in a hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone—you’re better off staying in a hostel than in this place.
