My first traditional Inn stay in Tokyo and it’s made me wish I only booked traditional stays. The staff introduced me to the wonderful and kind Japanese hospitality, giving me plenty of advice on what to do and where to go. The room was beautiful and so was the free Japanese style pyjamas which after this I have bought several pairs. Located in a quiet but well connected part of the city. I did not find it hard to get around. Will definitely be coming again!

In recommending this place to friends just now, we have just realised we omitted to write a review at the time. Bad us, because this ryokan was just beautiful when we stayed there last year. Do not miss the breakfast, which cost us the additional princely sum of AUD$6 - it is filling, delicious, and as always with Japanese food, a work of art. For us in our 60s, the non-ensuite bathrooms and toilets weren't a problem. The ryokan is in a great location, near the subway and best of all in a lovely neighborhood full of local family-run tiny restaurants - none of the owners or staff spoke English so they taught us how to use Google Translate which changed our lives! The English spoken at the ryokan itself is very, very good, and the people were lovely. Highly recommended and we will return here on our next trip. By the way, I don't understand the photo shown here as I don't recall anything in the area that looks like arches...maybe just my memory.

Charming. Location is fantastic, service is top notch. The Annex rooms are much newer, spacious, and overall better. But the main building - those rooms feel authentic. Breakfast is optional, but cannot be missed.

I would Recommend this ryokan to everybody! I have truly enjoyed my stay here. The staff welcomed us with open arms and warm hearts, the rooms were cozy in a japanese traditional style, and the location is awesome! We could walk just minutes to convenient stores, restaurants, and sights. One of my favorite memories of this place is being cooked a japanese home meal and conversing with the staff in the morning. You will never get anything like this from a modern, main stream hotel. If you come to Japan, you have to stay here!

We loved everything about this place and were sad that we only had one night here. We stayed in the annex, which was all brand new. So pretty and quite roomy with comfortable beds. They warn you that the walls are thin, but the neighborhood was quiet and I didn't hear the other guests. The hosts were so friendly and kind. The japanese breakfast is excellent--lots of food (miso soup, fish, rice, pickled vegetables, salad) and really tasty. FYI, there's a high-end Japanese omekase restaurant run by Chef Sano next door. It's not affiliated with Ito Ryokan but he tries to accommodate their guests if they ask. Was a really lovely last dinner in Tokyo.

We stayed here for the first four nights of our Japan trip. What an incredible authentic experience. Totally different than a western hotel. We already were excited and prepared for sleeping on the floor and shared bath facilities which we enjoyed. Everything was clean and orderly. Do not worry shampoo, body wash, face wash, clean towels, razor, q tips, hear dryer, and clothing refresh spray was all available. We absolutely loved the staff every single person was incredibly warm and helpful. Do not skip the Japanese breakfast. We got it every morning and it was totally different every day. Chefs were really thoughtful and explained everything and even made a special Japanese side Natto for my children to see what they would think. It was an amazing value and unforgettable experience for all of us.

Affordable ryokan with friendly staff. We stayed as a group of 3 in a big room, all bathroom facilities are shared and honestly that was the only feature we didn’t find great. No problem with shared per se, but there was only one of each male and female shower to the whole ryokan which made it a mission to get ready for the day. There is a bath that you can reserve in the evening time also but we didn’t get the chance to use it. The room was spacious and not too hot, we felt welcomed in the ryokan and staff were lovely too. We tried the morning breakfast on one occasion which was an interesting authentic experience.

I stayed here for 5 nights and I did not expect to have so much fun staying here. 1. Hotel Staffs Chikako-san, the manager was very welcoming and friendly to every guests. Every one of the part-timers were really friendly and I would often make small conversations with them and they would teach me a thing or two about Japanese culture and their language. They would also go out of their way to help you with Takkyubin services. One of the hotel staffs followed me to the Yamato Transport Takkyubin store to assist me with the entire process. There was also this incident where I happened to checked out from Ito Ryokan already and I locked myself out of my hotel, I went back to Ito Ryokan for help because the hotel was unmanned and I was unable to converse in full Japanese on the phone. Chikako-san did not hesitate to help me make the phone call and she saved me from being locked out from my hotel room which I am very grateful for. 🥹🥹🥹🥹 2. Breakfast and hospitality She would offer breakfast for all the guests such as coffee/tea and biscuits, you get to opt for a Japanese styled breakfast the day before which I did and it was really delicious. Would definitely recommend travellers to try out their breakfast for an authentic Japanese experience! 3. Rooms and facilities The rooms were acceptable, traditional Ryokan styled rooms, with TV and fūton. I don’t really have much qualm about the room because I spent most of my time outside of my room as a solo traveller. Bath towels, shampoo, body wash, hair dryers are all provided, toothbrushes and toothpastes weren’t provided. Toilets and the pantry area are all shared FYI. 4. Location The location is super convenient, it’s located really near 3 different stations which makes it easy to go most places! The area is also really local and non-touristy so expect it to be really quiet at night. 5. Making friends I made a lot of friends during my stay, talking to other guests and the hotel staffs here as a solo traveller. Chikako-san and the other hotel staffs would encourage guests to befriend each other, you’ll be able to make friends with both tourists and locals staying here. I really enjoyed my stay here. It was a really fun and weird experience because there was one time where I volunteered to help them out with translation and they also invited me to do an interview regarding what tourists consider in a hotel location etc. 10/10 would come back again and would also recommend this ryokan to everyone!
