Chiayi is a quiet town on the edge of alishan mountains, as such there are not many major shops and eateries around. South Urban is a luxurious hotel standing in the middle of the quiet town. The popular food and night market are within 15min walking distance from the hotel (there is u-bike stand just opposite the hotel, but there were no bikes available when we headed out in the evening). The hotel staff were generally friendly, but there are not many amenities available to guests. There were only hair dryer and bedroom slippers available. The hotel did provide two bottles of water, and there is a water dispenser at the lobby if guests need more water.Other tourist attractions within 20-30 minutes walk around are prison, Hiroki village, railway park.

OK this sounds a bit sad this was the least memorable hotel on our 35 day trip, I seriously had to through the photos on line to remember this hotel. So what can I say we stayed the room was obviously clean - as we have walked out hotels before that were not clean, the bed must have been fine as I would have remembered if it was not. This was a two night stay over on our way back to Taipei. Sorry can't give any more feedback other than that!

Absolutely loved this place. Gorgeous rooms and bathrooms, and delicious breakfast buffet options. Connie served us at the front desk and she was a dream - friendly, helpful, chatty, charismatic, funny, and a total sweetheart. The rooms were unbelievably spacious and the bed had truly the biggest beds I have ever seen (and were comfy)! Location was great, a short walk to Wenhua Rd night markets and a YouBike dock just across the road from the hotel. The gym wasn’t really much of a gym, only had some cardio machines which I was pretty disappointed about but a very small con in a big list of strong pros.

Smooth check in and was given the hotel room at level 2 facing the swimming pool. As it was during winter season, the pool was not opened so it was quite peaceful.there are quite a lot of food nearby and all are within walkable distance(10-15 mins kind) . can consider renting a scooter to drive around to explore the city. Overall all a decent experience

Positives- Nice, clean rooms that still look pretty new- good sound insulation (outside the window, and outside the room)- nice small touches for Christmas (small card and goodie bag waiting in the room, complimentary piano and flute performance coupled with milk tea and mulled wine) Negatives- breakfast variety limited (almost the same food for both days. Decent taste wise-

We booked the deluxe double room and had a pleasant stay here. Rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. Bathroom was huge with a bathtub. Location wise, you might need to walk alittle further out for eateries/restaurants. Front desk service was great and they also helped to arrange a taxi for us to the hsr station.

I checked in during the evening and noticed the toilet paper was low. There was only a few pieces left so I quickly called the receptionist to have more toilet paper delivered to the room. I had 2 rooms and both were low on toilet paper. Little did I know, the staff informed me they had no more toilet paper in stock and insisted I wait til the next day for housekeeping to be in service in order to get more toilet paper. I have travelled to many hotels in my lifetime and never have I experienced a hotel to have no toilet paper available for guests. What kind of establishment is this?? How can you not have basic necessities prepared for guests. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they were understaffed and didn’t have one. Also, the thermometer was broken in one of my rooms so it was very uncomfortable the entire stay. I notified the staff multiple times and nobody did anything to try to fix it. Awful experience.
