I visited the historic Huaisheng Mosque in Guangzhou’s Yuexiu District yesterday for Juma prayer, and it was an unforgettable experience. Known as the Lighthouse Mosque, this sacred site beautifully blends spiritual serenity with rich history. The architecture, with its iconic minaret, is breathtaking. I couldn’t resist capturing photos and videos of its intricate details. The prayer space was peaceful and well-maintained, creating a perfect environment for worship. The community was warm and welcoming, adding to the spiritual ambiance. A must-visit for anyone in Guangzhou seeking both cultural heritage and a meaningful prayer experience!

Traditional accounts assert that the mosque was first built during the Tang Dynasty by Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqās, a companion of Prophet Muhammad . This would make it nearly 1,400 years old. • Modern scholarly consensus, however, suggests that while an early mosque likely existed here during the Tang or early Song dynasties, the current structure has undergone numerous reconstructions: • A significant rebuild occurred in 1350 during the Yuan Dynasty . • It was rebuilt again in 1695 under the Qing Dynasty after a destructive fire . • The present prayer hall was rebuilt in 1935

Visited on May 9, 2025. The Huaisheng Mosque, also known as the Lighthouse Mosque and the Great Mosque of Canton, is the main mosque of Guangzhou. Rebuilt many times over its history, some historical texts claim that it was first built in the 7th century, but modern scholarship places its foundation at a later period during the Tang or Song dynasties. Was able to perform my Jumma (Friday) prayer here. People of many countries, whoever is Guangzhou, come to pray here together and it was really a nice environment.

I visited this beautiful mosque in Guangzhou last month. It is one of the oldest mosque here. The architecture is amazing and the courtyard was wide and open. Inside the compound, there were plenty of trees casting nice shades everywhere. It is very quiet here and I felt serene and peaceful. The place is neat and tidy and even the bushes and plants are trimmed nicely.

Huaisheng Masjeed. This Masjeed (Mosque) is so comfortable. I prayed and did worship there. Feels so natural and so peaceful. Make me available to focus on praying and reading the Quran, and the Muslim People there are so kind. My du'a is always for them from me in Indonesia now.
