Great cheap and historic hostel-ryokan hybrid located in a beautiful neighbourhood. If you're looking for a Japanese experience on a budget, this might be your thing. Keep in mind, however, you get what you pay for.
Rooms are traditional futon/tatami style. The building itself is quite old and it gets pretty chilly in the night even with the (old) heater on. In a sense, it's too authentic at times.
Also want to mention that the futons/blankets are pretty small (I'm 5'6/168 cm and my feet were hovering over the edge.
Bath and toilets are clean and get the job done. Again, a bit chilly.
I recommend dropping by the rustic cafe located just outside.
