Such a wonderful Ryokan if you can only pick one for your time in Kyoto this is the one you want. The staff is so friendly and will have everything ready for you. English is okay too if you don’t speak much Japanese. Do yourself a favor and get at least one kaiseki dinner and breakfast during your stay you won’t regret it

Location is perfect to walk around busy area such as nishiki market and kyoto station. Room is really cozy and traditional. I have never experienced this quality of service in my life. All employees are kind and polite.

One of the best experiences in Japan. The staff made us feel like home the entire time. The location and ryokan was perfectly traditional and pictures don’t do it any justice. The amount of genuine care and love from the staff is unmatched and highly recommend to anyone coming to Kyoto. Even the food they made for us is amazing. Not like regular hotel breakfast.

Where to even begin?! We were greeted by the most genuine, welcoming staff. They truly could not do enough for us throughout our time staying here. From booking reservations for us, to leaving sweet treats for us in our room, to eagerly working to ensure our every possible need was met. We also had the breakfast on our first day and it was so delicious. You can tell the food is made with love and thought from the lovely people that run this amazing Ryokan. The public bath was so relaxing and soothing after a long day of walking Highly, highly suggest this Ryokan to anyone!!

This was the best hotel of our whole trip. We were greeted by the nicest people in the world, who took care of us every step of the way. They make you feel like home, and the attention to detail is amazing. They also put such care into breakfast and dinner. Thank you for everything! We will be back!

The room was spacious, impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and provided a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The attention to detail in the room’s design and amenities was truly impressive, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional dining experience. We had breakfast on two consecutive mornings, and each meal was a masterpiece, prepared with the finest ingredients and presented with impeccable artistry. The flavors were exquisite, and it was clear that the chefs put immense care and skill into every meal. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to 女将 小西さん and her wonderful staff, who always greeted us with warm and welcoming smiles no matter the time of day. Their kindness and helpfulness were truly remarkable, especially when they assisted us with moving our heavy luggage to the second floor upon arrival. Language was not an issue at all; 女将 小西さん was very patient with my limited Japanese and made every effort to explain things in English so my partner could also understand. Not only the 女将, but other staff members, from the young lady who helped with check-in to the kind ladies who served breakfast, also tried to speak English as much as possible to ensure guests understood what was happening. The staff would often wait for us to return in the evening, ensuring we felt cared for at all times. On our first night, exhausted from our travels, a kind staff member served us cold green tea, which was exactly what we needed. This thoughtful gesture exemplifies the exceptional level of service provided at お花坊. Additionally, the ryokan’s location in Kyoto was ideal, close enough to Kyoto Station, providing easy access to many of the city’s renowned attractions. I highly recommend お花坊 to anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable experience in Kyoto. The combination of exceptional service, exquisite cuisine, and traditional charm makes this ryokan a true gem. I am grateful for the wonderful memories and look forward to returning in the future. Wonderful ryokan experience with excellent service! Location was a great spot in Kyoto where walking to other attractions was easy and short. Huge plus is a large temple that’s just across the street. Very affordable pricing, neat onsen, delicious breakfast, and most of all — the staff were all enthusiastic and extremely hospitable and friendly to us. Will definitely book again!

If you're like me and my fiancé who like to travel more on the cheaper side but also experience everything a culture has to offer you absolute have to go here. We stayed just for one night to experience the traditional Japanese rooms and it was amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and nice and the breakfast was amazing. Really worth every cent.
