"Start from the top. What can we expect from this hotel?Smaller than most Ritz-Carlton properties, this location has a boutique feel—it's even accessed by a separate, exclusive entrance on the side of the JW Marriott. Speaking of—how does it compare to other Ritzes? The brand is known for its high-touch luxury, and this property follows suit. Special touches make it very L.A.: Saturday yoga classes, a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, a club level with skyline views, a heated rooftop pool and hot tub, and a glamorous full-service spa. What are the rooms like?Every room has city views and plush sofas. Bathrooms have separate soaking tubs, mirror TVs, and seriously comfy robes. Once we've settled in, where should we go for a bite to eat?Wolfgang Puck's WP24 does modern takes on Chinese cuisine. The food is incredible, as expected, but the setting—high on the 24th floor—is really what you’re here for. Enjoy a sake-infused cocktail, settle in, and prepare to be wowed. And heads up: at the Sunday buffet brunch, there's even a Peking-duck carving station. How do the staff treat you?Service is seamless, as is expected from Ritz-Carlton. You don’t become a legacy brand for nothing. Who stays here? The clientele comes largely from abroad. You’ll find a lot of sports-industry insiders during games (the Lakers, Clippers, and LA Kings play next door at Staples Center) as well as high-end luxury travelers looking for all the comforts of a familiar hotel brand. What are some of the highlights of the surrounding area?Just outside is the Staples Center/LA Live, which is a bit like L.A.’s version of Times Square. It's a fun area if you're into sports, but hop in a Lyft and head elsewhere—say, the nearby Arts District—for better dining, nightlife and culture. Is there anything you'd change? We only wish this were a standalone property. Anything else we should know about before planning a stay?Don't miss the ultra-relaxing CBD treatments at the spa here; the therapists use Mary's Naturals, a Colorado brand, and you'll leave feeling majorly Zen. Bottom line: Worth it?Absolutely—especially because you can use Bonvoy points to stay here." - Krista Simmons
