"So, where are we?Set on Atlanta’s Midtown Mile—one of the hottest stretches of town—Loews Atlanta Hotel is a short walk from Piedmont Park and the Beltline, the Fox Theatre, and the High Museum of Art. Arrive at the curved, 26-story glass building and enter the sleek lobby and your eye will first be caught by a white wall sculpture that hangs behind the front desk. Voices echo in the busy, modern space, thanks to its granite-and-marble floors and soaring ceilings, as well as a recent $13 million renovation that of the lobby, bar, guest rooms, corridors, and more. Who's checking in here?Museum- and theater-goers, families, business travelers, and young, trendy types. What can we expect in the rooms? My Deluxe King Room had great views of the city skyline. The bed begs to be snoozed in, thanks to its 300-thread-count Egyptian-cotton linens. The vibe is contemporary, with an upholstered headboard and some artwork. In the bathroom, there's a walk-in shower with a separate soaking tub and a flat-screen TV. Overall, there’s nothing jaw-dropping going on, but the room is perfectly clean and comfortable. Note: Turndown service is only available upon request. And the tiny details? Each room has complimentary Wi-Fi, a Keurig coffee maker, and delicious-smelling hair and body products by beauty guru Julien Farel. Room service and food: What can we look forward to?On the room service front, definitely try the grilled New York strip steak, served with a lima bean succotash, mashed potatoes, and salsa verde. Saltwood Charcuterie and Bar, the hotel’s signature restaurant, serves cured meats and specialty cheeses in a casual atmosphere. (Chalkboards diagraming the parts of a pig hang from the walls.) Don’t miss the award-winning Green Hill cow’s milk cheese from Sweet Grass Dairy in Thomasville, Georgia. Need some veggies? The restaurant also has a popular salad bar. What's the low-down on the other amenities?Located on the hotel’s seventh floor, Exhale Spa is a favorite among locals who come for a full schedule of barre, cardio, and yoga classes, plus its namesake luxury spa. Start your day with a power yoga class, follow it with an acupuncture massage, and wrap your morning at the co-ed "Hammam Detox Chamber + Rain Shower." Valet parking is $40 a day and there's also a charge for self-parking ($26/day). But who needs a car when the hotel offers complimentary rides—in a Cadillac Escalade—anywhere within a two-mile radius. As part of the Loews Loves Families program, the hotel gifts each child who stays there an activity book and crayons. Forget a toy? Need a stroller? There’s a “Kids Closet” offering these items—plus car seats, nightlights, and DVDs—for families to use during their stay. Sum it all up.Terrific location, superb spa, and affordable rates? Yes, please." - Allison Weiss Entrekin
