"Al Bidya is the oldest surviving mosque in the UAE, believed to have been constructed in the 15th-century. The mosque still hosts daily prayers, but is also open to visitors. The mosque is small and won't take up your entire day, but the view from the top is worth it—and it's also worth it to see the stark contrast when compared with mega-mosques elsewhere. The mosque is never very crowded, and visitors are a good mix of Muslim travelers from the region and those from further afield." - Laura Ratliff
