"Constructions continues on Temescal’s impending all-day cafe and cocktail bar, North Light, which will open in December if all goes well. In the meantime, an update on the food and drinks that will join the bustling dining corridor: Chef Ronnie New, opening chef at the Mission’s Alamo Drafthouse, will create a menu of light, Mediterranean-inspired food. New has also spent time in the kitchens of Comstock and Magnolia, both known for their hearty dishes like burgers, fish and chips, and more. However, North Light owner Dan Stone says things there will skew on the lighter side at breakfast, lunch, and dinner; there’ll also be happy hour snacks, late-night bites, and kid’s menus. Cocktails will come from Den Stephens, the general manager and bar director who has just arrived in the Bay Area from Portland, where he worked at popular PDX destinations like Oven and Shaker, Higgins, Coopers Hall, and Hamlet. In addition to cocktails, there’ll be a list of Mediterranean wines, and local beers. The vibe is intended to shift throughout the day, from pastries and coffee at breakfast to salads and sandwiches at lunch, and small plates and more composed dishes at night. And, it’ll be open every day except Monday from 7 a.m. til midnight, a boon for creative people in the neighborhood. Best of all, really, there’ll be a covered patio out back for morning coffee or evening cocktails, or anything in between. Stay tuned for a December opening at 4915 Telegraph Ave." - Ellen Fort
