"Churn Urban Creamery, a pop-up ice cream operation gone permanent, is opening in Portola’s recently restored Avenue Theater this weekend. Proprietor Rica Sunga-Kwan serves unique flavors, many of which include ingredients grown in her Outer Sunset garden. The shop, featuring an open kitchen, is the result of a two-year remodel of the space, vacant since 2007. Sunga-Kwan aims for transparency in ice cream production and plans to start with eight flavors, eventually expanding to 16." - Caleb Pershan
