"Chef Gilberto Monroy closed his Mexican restaurant Nuevo Sol after service on May 27. The restaurant opened in 2022, per East Bay Nosh, debuting after Monroy cooked at Bette’s Oceanview for almost 30 years. “This decision was incredibly difficult for our family,” Monroy wrote in a closing note on Instagram." - Dianne de Guzman
